OOC; Figure head said wood of a red oak. Is that supposed to be some sort of traditional remedy? Would the clinic have any on hand?

"Hmm. Seems this plague is getting worse," remarked Dodger.

"What Plague?" Holy Smokes asked.

"I think he's referring to all the sick ponies recently. That poor filly's mother we searched for came down with it, despite being in isolation." Emerald notes absently, her mind more on walking this unusual three-legged race than the conversation.

"This is not good. Those vpatients look seriously messed up."

"Oh..." Star put one hoof to her mouth in worry. "I knew something bad would happen if I left the clinic for too long!"

"I'm sure the hospital's patient-recapturing efficiency was not crippled simply because you went on an emergency call-out."

"Don't worry about it." Emerald half-orders the nurse, making sure to dampen a pity party before it started.

"It would not have made a big difference here, but it did over at the bar. Even if they are worthless scum, you probably saved some of their lives by treating them instead of letting the wounds fester. Crossbow bolt removal isn't a garage-kit job I hear but you did it. A disease is a disease, they either fall here or fall inside, but your help wouldn't have slowed the illness any. You were where you were needed most. Not even us unicorns can be everywhere at once." A smile accompanied the words, hoping to offset any harshness in them.

Shooting Star gave a small smile. "You're right, Emerald. Thanks for being supportive... Although this does kind of remind me of the last time I was at my friend Quill's house. I left to go grab us dinner, and when I got back, her cat was on fire... He was fine in the end, though." She remembered the situation at hoof and returned to watching the clinic from afar. "What do you suppose we do?"

"Keep the both of us away from cats for starters." Holy Smokes retorts.

SE:
"Oak, like wood? There's plenty of scrap wood in town, I guess, but not here. And I'm really not the pony to ask about that." A loud bang and a very feminine roar sound from down the hall somewhere. "Listen, just head outside and see if you can round up the last few running loose. Once we get them penned again, they'll be easier to fix, whenever we manage to figure out how to do that."

Group:
As you watch the ponies run around, a familiar yellow one turns and runs at you. She doesn't seem to see you, but she is running at full bore, as if intent on running through a wall.

Holy Smokes tries to use his ponykinesis to stop her charge.

"Or leaves or root. Anyway, lets see about our stray patients." Storm heads outside.

Dodger considered his options. He wasn't brawny, so he couldn't hold back the pony. Natural agility wouldn't help much at slowing her down. What he could offer was a distraction, which didn't seem like the best idea, but it was better than doing nothing.

Dodger loudly whistled, aiming to get the pony's attention and at least slow her down.

Jaquir stepped away from the charging patient's path and watched with interest at the others' efforts to halt her.

"Slow down!" Emerald calls at the charging pony. She had no ability to dodge out of the way, so her arm grips her companion a bit tighter for support. At the same time, just in case, she pushes her thoughts into the charging pony's head.

'"Sunset wouldn't want you acting this way, just calm down for a little bit."'

Shooting Star shot up into the sky, and rocketed around to grab Sunflower by her tail. "Come on, Sunflower! You're going to hurt someone!"

You manage to avoid any more patients as you head out through the lobby, which you note has been cleared of foals. Out the doors, you note several ponies running around, some chasing others, and a ways off, you spot a more or less familiar group of faces...

Group:

Emerald's telepathic message barely seems to register with her as well, but it at least gets her attention at some level. At "Sunset", she seems to hesitate, skipping a step. As she does so, Star swoops around to grab her by the tail, drastically slowing her charge, to which she still does not respond. Finally, Smokes' telekinesis, unable to do much on its own, is able to find a hold on her legs, stalling them completely. If it weren't for Star holding her back, she would have likely toppled forward. Sunflower, in an almost feral state of incoherence, simply stands there, staring into the distance behind the group. She stops attempting to run, and stands stock still.

Holy Smokes checks behind himself, just to make sure there's nothing actually back there.

There is nothing noteworthy actually back there.

Emerald held up her poor leg in the air, its carrier having run off to deal with the threat, though in the excitement against the monotony, she forgot who was actually helping her at the time. She limped closer to Sunflower, who didn't seem prone to bolt forwards, but kept just a bit out of a straight line just in case.

"Sunset. She needs you to be calm and get better." It seemed the only word to resonate at all, so why not use it more often? "Sunset would like you to go back to the clinic and feel better. That okay with you?"

Sunset turns around, and then examines the ground, stepping around in a circle like a cat examining a potential bed. She then looks back at Emerald and and smiles. "Sunset..." is all she says before collapsing. Before your eyes, you see her mane and coat dull to a sick shade of grey. A dull flash of light from her flank, and her Cutie Mark has disappeared.

"That is decidedly not a good thing," Jaquir said, going over to the collapsed filly.
