Hey Guys! I'm new to the forums, and this is my first post. I GM an MLP game for my friends, and we just decided to start using the Pony Tales rules. I want to share these stats for some changelings I made hoping for some feedback since our first session using these rules is this weekend. Basic changelings usually come in groups of 4-5, commanders with a few basic changelings, and the Queen as a solo.

Changeling - 15 HP
[0] Disguise
Flip a coin. If tails, have target enemy attack random target.
[+1] Twisted Strike
Deal 1d4 damage to target enemy.
[-3] Tormented Lightning
Deal 1d8 damage to target enemy. That enemy is stunned (save ends).

Changeling Commander - 20 HP
Trait - Hive Intuition
If bloodied, all basic changelings gain Disguise as a trait rather than an action.
[+3] Cunning
Flip a coin. If tails, all basic changelings gain 1 pip. If heads, gain no pips from this action.
[-2] Rend
Deal 1d6 to target enemy. Flip a coin. If tails, deal extra +3 damage.
[-10] Yes my queen!
Sacrifice 2 basic changelings. Deal 2d10 damage to a target enemy, and 1d10 to adjacent enemies.

Changeling Queen - 80 HP
Trait - Royal Decree
Take 2 initiative rolls at the start of combat. Have 2 standard actions.
Trait - Feast of Emotion
Take +3 damage. Remove from yourself a status effect.
[+1] Metamorphosis
Flip a coin. If heads, gain +5 health. If tails, lose -5 health.
[+4] Love of My Subjects
Flip a coin. If tails, only gain 2 pips.
[-3] Feeding Frenzy
Deal 1d8 damage to target enemy. Remove 1 pip from that enemy.
[-5] Demonic Shriek
Flip a coin. If heads, deal 1d6+2 to all enemies. If tails, deal 1d4+2 to all enemies and gain 1 pip
[-10] Dominance of the Matriarch
Flip a coin. If heads, deal 2d10 to target enemy. If tails, deal 1d8 to all enemies.

Any ideas on improving, balancing, or renaming abilities would be much appreciated.

Right here I go

Normal there is one in the offical book this a bit more balanced
Changeling - 20 HP
Trait – Shifter
When this creature is targeted by an enemy, flip a coin. If heads, the attack targets one of the attacking creature’s allies instead.
[+3] Focus
Flip a coin. If heads, gain 2 pips.
[-1] Brainwash
Target creature is brainwashed (save ends). While brainwashed the creature considers your allies to be its allies and considers your enemies to be its enemies.
[0] Echo – Immediate Reaction
Trigger - An enemy takes a standard action.
You may copy that standard action, paying the pip cost.

Commander
bump up the HP to 25 or 30
remove the trait or change it to make it into something that increases the PiP gain of others
Cunning change the heads into something that is not so bad or increase the base PiP gain to 4 or 5
rend under powered as a -2 would work as a +1 as a -2 make it 2D8 with the tails effect the same either way
[-10] Yes my queen!
Sacrifice 2 basic changelings. Deal 2d10 damage to a target enemy, and 1d10 to adjacent enemies.
No where near as powerful as any other -10 lower the cost to -6 or-7 remove the sacrifice cost and make it 2D20 damage with 3D8 to adjacents

Queen
Increase the HP to about 100ish (the time I ran a boss with 80HP lasted only 3-4 turns)
for feast change it to pay 3 HP
Metamorphosis make 1D20HP for heads and 1D8 for tails
Feeding Frenzy either make it a +1 or make it 3D8 damage and steal 1D4 PiPs
these two need a complete rework
[-5]Demonic Shriek
Flip a coin. If heads, deal 1d20+3 to all enemies. If tails, deal 2d8+4 to all enemies and gain 3 pips
[-8]Dominance of the Matriarch
Flip a coin. If heads, deal 4d10 to target enemy. If tails, deal 1d20 to all enemies.

Thanks! Always good to hear from a GM with more experience. In the campaign I run the players encounter changelings a lot, so I was trying to make one with a bit lower stats. I'll try the official changelings for our first game and see how it works. As for everything else, really awesome suggestions! Learning tons about creating monsters. I was really thinking about boosting the queen's health and regen abilities, so its good to know I almost made a good call on that. Hopefully after our first session I'll gain a better understanding. What about this for the commander:

If bloodied, all basic changelings gain gain 1 pip at the start of each standard action.
[+4] Cunning
Flip a coin. If tails, all basic changelings gain 1 pip. If heads, gain only 1 pip from this action.
[-2] Rend
Deal 2d8 to target enemy. Flip a coin. If tails, deal extra +3 damage.
[-6] Yes my queen!
Deal 2d20 damage to a target enemy, and 3d8 to adjacent enemies.

Changeling Queen - 110 HP
Trait - Royal Decree

I also decided to raise the pip gain for Love of My Subjects to +6 and changed Hive Intuition to Collective Knowledge.

change love to a plus three and you should be golden. It would be a good idea to send it to the monster arena for play testing before useing it for real.

So how many characters are you going to be running in your campaign? I mean this Queen looks pretty powerful for 4 or fewer players. I can offer decent critique, or even run it through a play-test for you in the monster arena if you want Smile Oh, and welcome to the forums by the way.

Thanks! As for the number of players, it should remain at a 5-6 person group. I've seen your monster arena play tests, and I think you've done a great job with them! I'd love to see how well the queen works.

Awesome, I'll give it a shot. I'll run her against 5 'players'. It could take a little while, but I'll probably get it done in the next few hours.
