^While on the subject of expansions, I thought I might also ask, but are we going to use the Talent Show too?
BTW - Yeah, I'll go with Mechanics as my main stat then.
I hope so. I got half my talents from there. XD

^I just noticed that while looking over your character.
BTW - I like the character. Looks like a fun one. Also, I'll give you bonus points for creativity on the ring placement (;
-Only thing that concerns me - I'm 3/4 Cajun, but I don't have a clue how to read French. Hopefully it won't prove to be that much of a problem in the campaign.
On a final note - how did you get the character image to appear on your sheet? I've been wondering how you do that on Google Docs.

Thanks!
Don't worry, I'll provide a translation.

I don't know what Talent Show is, but at least none of the talents chosen for Halynn seemed like anything I'd not allow so it's probably fine.

Re: GM Tips for an RPG rookie?
Start by isolating the ones you can take, which makes the list much shorter, then since you can pick a ton of 'em, pick whichever strikes your fancy or that you think may be useful. I like taking one Freaky Knowledge as a flavour-builder too.
I'm done Talents, just need combat and my sheet'll be up.

Re: GM Tips for an RPG rookie?
Blight I took one talent that is not offical is that ok?
I have the feeling that we are going to have to have the it belongs in a Museum debate and also in a diffrent situation one member will try to arrest another. In party conflict yay!

PM me with which it is and any information about where it's from so I can make sure.

So, as I said before. I've been working on a map. It's fairly simple and more or less done. Gives you a decent idea of where one thing is in relation to another but...I realized only now that I didn't make it with any real-world measurements of scale in mind.-head desk- Should I still use it?
Re: GM Tips for an RPG rookie?
Definitely. In fact, it would be kind of neat to give the map as a resource to the players as an inaccurate reference to the world around them. It's not entirely necessary to have a 100% accurate map, you just need a general idea of where stuff is.Dr Blight wrote:So, as I said before. I've been working on a map. Definitely, but I have an idea. Don't give us the map at start, make us find or IC make it ourselves. Carrot-on-a-stick kinda thing.Dr Blight wrote:So, as I said before. I've been working on a map. Hey, for the character creation sheet, do we not pick traits until we level up?

Re: GM Tips for an RPG rookie?
Well I'm happy to announce that I think I'm about ready to make the OOC. Not too much still left to do now on my own so I think we might even be able to start by Monday if not earlier. Just gotta finish detailing some of the NPCs and monsters, post the monsters up for review. And from there work with you all to get things started.
Oh and name the campaign. I have no idea what to call this. Anyone have any tips for naming your campaign?

Re: GM Tips for an RPG rookie?
Well, considering the characters and the little bit of backstory you gave us, I'd say something B-Movie-ish, like, IDK, the Isle of Memories or something.

Re: GM Tips for an RPG rookie?
Hey, um, I'm a bit confused on a few things. For one, how does this play by post thing work? Also, How do the dice rolls work, not d20, like, d8 and d10 and d12, and what the buck does 3d8 and 2d10 and the like mean?

Re: GM Tips for an RPG rookie?
2d12
The first number is the number of times you roll. In this case 2, so you roll two dice.
d stands for dice
the second number is the number of sides the dice has. In this case 12, so the dice you roll are 12-sided.
as such, 2d12 means "roll two 12-sided dice." Some people use actual dice, some people use a random number generator.
As for how a play-by-post works. I'm not sure I understand the question.

Re: GM Tips for an RPG rookie?
sub to answer someone makes a post in the campain page then the DM reactes to the post so on and so forth this is the only time that spliting the party makes the game go faster.
Side note did you just give your character the exact same stats that I gave mine?
Side Side note why does a doctor need history? that training could be better spent in an other stat.

Because if you read his backstory, you'll note that he is an insane reader, and as such, has learned a lot about the history of many things, as well as reading lots of medical texts. Also, what are your characters stats? Have you linked a Character sheet yet?
