A World, A Part (Recruitment, Info, and OOC)
So this will be something of an odd game. The game will be about the PCs being low powered creator deities of sorts (in addition to whatever they were before) and making their own world/plane of existence out of what concepts they can manage to get their hands on.
There will be several mechanical differences from a normal Pony Tales game.
I want you guys to make your characters with 8 points worth of traits from the Genetic Engineering document. I would like you guys to make stuff that isn't exactly normal and that's different from each other. You don't have to play equine races or even races that are already made or even anything similar. As long as it works for the sorta cute semi-anthropomorphic style of the show, and isn't basically a human or something, it should be fine. (An example of human-ish stuff that would be ok would be devils from the Disgaea games or stuff of that kind of style.) I'll probably be not super strict about that, so long as I like whatever it is you came up with.
Pre-post Edit: Also available at the same cost as Fireborn (1 point) are the various forms of "My Other Half is Also Dragon" found in the Joke Templates doc. You can even take multiple if you want.
Note: Seriously though, I advise you guys to take Cutie Marks/Expert Skills.
Edit: Ponykinesis/Telekinesis is a 1 point racial trait.
As for where your characters came from, I'd like this also to be different from each other. You're all starting out in a place called the Outlands which is basically a realm where pieces of shattered dimensions end up. So for example, one player could be a survivor of a plane that collapsed (say because something like Discord had their freedom and this ended up ripping the plane completely apart). Another might be a creation of a god. (Note: you guys are not "gods" in the technical sense, you're "creators".) Basically stuff like that. Just run ideas past me to see if it fits.
You can't take Fracture the Fourth wall or any Destinies/Utilities that allow you to break the 4th wall as part of their mechanics (though stuff that could otherwise be re-flavored to make sense could be fine).
Edit: You can't take It's Over! either. Smartass.
The History skill works oddly here (though mechanically more or less the same). Since most of the planes are places your characters have never been to, while it still does function as "this is what I've heard/read about this place", it also is used to learn facts about places by just trying to get an innate sense of them.
We will be using the Virtues of Living Legends, instead of the Elements of Pony Tales.
You have a second set of stats for the purposes of world crafting. They each start at 1 and you have 3 points to allot as you choose. You may choose to have 0 in a single stat but, if you do, you cannot ever use it. When using these stats you roll a d8 and add your stat value as a bonus to the roll. You cannot use these stats for any purpose but crafting your plane (unless I explicitly say so) and refining resources.
The Creation stats are as follows:
In addition to each stat being able to do the things mentioned above, they can be used to Refine a resource. This is used to get resource types out of others. This costs a good deal of the resource(s) being refined and yields a lesser amount of the refined resource. Some stats are better at refining a certain type of resource from another (and some just can't do it in one step at all). The stat used it based on what you are trying to get out of what. Typically there will be a stat I deem is the best for this, a second that is not quite as good, and the other two will have more difficulty or won't be able to do it at all.
Examples of Refinement: Getting Passion out of Fire. Getting Electricity out of Energy. Getting Electricity out of Air and Fire.
Definition of terms: (I might add to this if there's significant confusion about things.)
Resource: A concept, element, etc. Examples: Fire, Water, Dreams, Love, Friendship, Anger, Sadness, Light, Darkness, Red, Yellow.
Expression: How a resource defines a created object. Examples: Physical, Mental, Emotional, Temperature, etc.
Clarifications: Each character possesses resources individually, not as a group. Thus a player cannot use Addition to create something out of Fire another player possesses. Players can swap resources by a willing use of Modification from all involved participants, though this will likely result in a loss of some amount of resources. Players can work together to use Addition to create something together with resources they possess but, this requires an Addition roll from all participants.
Leveling System
If you guys want to take or make unofficial things (Utility, Combat Talents, Destinies, Virtues, Traits, etc.), I'm likely to be pretty accepting of that, just run the idea past me before assuming I'm saying yes to it.
Also, do you guys want to use Philadelphus' Talent Specialization Supplement?

You cannot use these stats for any purpose but crafting your plane (unless I explicitly say so) and refining resources.
The Creation stats are as follows:
- Spoiler:
Addition: This is the purest act of creation. You make something where there was nothing. This is used to make things out of the resources you have. It is also used to add resources to something already created in your world.
Subtraction: This is used to remove resources from your world. You may use this to remove a single resource type from something (like say water from a duck) or removing that thing entirely. When you do this you get a portion of the resources that were removed, the rest are typically lost.
Modification: This allows you to exchange resources between two or more things. You cannot change the way the resources are expressed however. This can be used to swap a resource you have in your possession with something that is already in something in the world but, the total loss of resources from doing this is greater than with Subtraction.
(Example of use: You have Mountains which were made with the physical expression of Water and you have Oceans which were made with the physical expression of Fire. You can then swap their positions so now Mountains physical expression is Fire and Oceans physical expression is Water.)
Alteration: This allows you to change the expression of a resource in something created for your plane.
(Example of use: You have Trees with the physical expression of Wood and the emotional expression of Sadness. You could change the expression of Sadness to a physical expression so that you now have Trees physically made out of Wood and Sadness.)
In addition to each stat being able to do the things mentioned above, they can be used to Refine a resource. This is used to get resource types out of others. This costs a good deal of the resource(s) being refined and yields a lesser amount of the refined resource. Re: A World, A Part (Recruitment, Info, and OOC)
I'm totally in this... And going to make a robot. Might or might not be pony-ish... Unsure at this point.
Edit: I vote no to using the Talent Upgrade system... We've got enough odd stuff to deal with without putting that into the mix.

I agree with Xel.

No, kaji, it is not the Talent Show. It is Philedelphus's Talent Refinement thingie.
I would like a spot, but it is very late at night/early in the morning and the character creation process is even more involved than usual so I'm just gonna go ahead and not make my stuff until tomorrow maybe day after if that's okay.

Re: A World, A Part (Recruitment, Info, and OOC)
The talent upgrade thing seems... a little unnecessarily complicated. I can see how it could be a lot of fun, but this campagain will probably have a lot of confusion already.
Race so far:
Race so far:
- Spoiler:
A Thousand Faces (3) - At Will
Preparation time: 30 Seconds
You change your appearance to that of any medium-sized creature that you have seen. It takes a perception check of DC 34+Your Level to see through the disguise.
You may also choose to take on a unique form of another race, similar to that created by the Alter Ego talent, which is impossible to recognize as a disguise.
Talent (Cutie Mark) (2)
Characters of your race gain a cutie mark. Check with your DM if you want to use one of these for a non-traditional creature, like a Minotaur or Griffon.
Mechanical (2)
You are considered a magical construct. You do not age, nor do you need to eat, sleep, or drink or breathe.
If a character would make a heal check to heal you, they make a mechanics or arcana check instead.
With the proper resources (DM’s discretion), any severed part of your body may be reattached or recreated with the proper resources,
so long as you have not been killed and any crippling injury can be repaired with the proper resources.
Specialist (1)
Characters of your race have a minimum of 3 in any attribute instead of 5 (10 is still the maximum).
I have no idea what it is yet, exept for the following:
It is a magical construct of some sort.
The Thousand Faces unique form is a cloud of gas. For which I'd like to add the weretimberwolf skill:
KILL IT WITH FIRE
Weretimberwolves are highly flammable. Whenever a weretimberwolf in its timberwolf form comes in contact with open flame (including mundane fire or lava, the Spyrotechnics racial ability, any combat talent that has been flavored to involve fire, etc.), then it immediately ignites. The weretimberwolf takes 1d10 ongoing damage until the flames are put out.
(Note: baby dragon weretimberwolves are still fireproof in their base form, but not in weretimberwolf form.)
It seems to have no benefits: I don't think it should cost any skill points.
Just for fun. And shenanigans. And fire.

No real rush. In fact, I'm sorta hoping you guys will take the time to look over each other's characters and change things as needed for variety and better synergy instead of having to rush through the process.

adding some sf to your fantasy:
VNS-S-G4504-3
Now let's see how long it takes for the other characters to give it a nickname.
I just read Existence. Blame David Brin.

Re: A World, A Part (Recruitment, Info, and OOC)
And I think with that we've hit our robotic limit. Sure people can still take that racial trait, but I'm thinking it'll be smarter to pick something more golem-ish or something for the rest of the group.
Re: A World, A Part (Recruitment, Info, and OOC)
@Kajisora, a couple things. Does your character have any personality or a personal history? (Well more like it must since this particular swarm somehow exited it's origin universe.) Why Laughter? I'm not objecting, just wondering if there's a reason. You should get someone to help you out with your combat build, it's sorta all over the place. As a note, Paranoia is just a horrible move, don't take it.
Edit: Also I don't understand why your character has Arcana. It doesn't seem as if it has any way to actually use that skill aside from just Arcane knowledge in general.
@Everyone: How do you guys want to handle X/Session moves. I'm thinking either just treat them the same as X/Day or leaving it up to me to determine when I think a "session" has ended. Other ideas are welcome though. Except for X pages as that just doesn't work well at all.

Personal history: Very little. I was planning on pulling the horrible cliche of "it fell into a black hole and weird stuff happened." It will have some quirks and knowledge passed on from it's predecessors though (serial number: generation 4504. more than enough time for stuff to happen to the programming.) The swarm is designed to interact with organic lifeforms: It's not going to do the whole "emotions? what are these things?" routine (It is supposed to raise the first generation of the colony after all)
Laughter I'm changing to Versatile: I did that before I decided on what the character was. It doesn't fit.
Combat I'll go have a look at... maybe I was trying out too many different things at once.
As for the arcana: that's for later. The universe it came fom doesn't have magic, but the swarm is programmed to learn and adapt. I'm taking It's Witchcraft and maybe ponykinesis as level up utility talents. I'm even thinking of taking the Spelljacker Destiny.
Besides, I tend to see it as a science stat, as in the understanding of magical theory, with magic being as much part of the laws of the pony universe as gravity and electromagnetism.
I also notice I forgot the actual world-shaping stats. adding those as well
EDIT done, done and done
pretty much a straight up dps build now: I was trying to combine too many combat roles at once

Re: A World, A Part (Recruitment, Info, and OOC)
Two real questions:
Are we gonna have a player limit/have we reached it?
Can I have my character take a "Expert Skill", not necessarily a "Cutie Mark"?

Re: A World, A Part (Recruitment, Info, and OOC)
Well, I'm looking for 4-6 players so I won't take more than 6. 5 people have expressed interest so far. Expert Skill is fine. I wasn't really differentiating. Whether or not you have a picture on your butt is entirely up to you. =P

Admitingly I do hope I wont be the only one form a Pony-ish universe.

That implies the other characters are going to be from a specific universe at all.

Originally, I was going to make a deep, meaningful character from a broken and lost world (maybe on a quest for redemption?). Then it started snowing and Christmas music came on and that all went out the window.
Here, meet Jingle Bell!
For someone who's Jewish, I sure love Christmas...
