The Use of Chems
Utility Talent:
Chem-Writer [Magic] 1/day
The power to write a chem- a mystical True Name of some thing- allows a creature to tap into an ancient and incredibly powerful magic. The chem's power, when placed into a sculpture of a body- of a pony or similar shape- animates it, bringing that body to life as a golem. The golem will obey the single injunction decided by the chem's writer at its creation. After the golem has finished its task, its chem is fulfilled and ceases to function. Golems are incapable of creativity, and will fulfill the task as literally as is possible. They are created with 3 in all stats except two, chosen by the writer of the chem, to which they enjoy a +10 bonus.
Generalist's Chem
Prerequisites: Chem-Writer
Your skill with chem-writing gives your golems excellent dexterity and skill in all their works. The golems produced enjoy a 5 bonus in all stats, as opposed to 3.
Infused Chem
Prerequisites: Chem-Writer
Your talent with chem-writing gives your golems improved specialization and power. The golems produced enjoy one extra specialized skill in which they receive a +10 bonus.
Oddly Shaped Chem
Prerequisites: Chem-Writer
Your ingenuity in chem-writing gives you the power to animate golems in shapes other than that of a pony. You are capable of animating any inanimate object into a golem; anything, from a golem weapon transfigured to automatically aim and fire itself to a golem of a cart capable of steering itself. These golems have +15 to their chosen actions, but no skill bonuses in any other action, and may be incapable of certain actions based on their shapes.
Holy Chem [Magic] 1/session
Preparation Time: 24 Hours
Prerequisites: Chem-Writer, Generalist's Chem, Infused Chem, Oddly-Shaped Chem
There's a difference between a normal chem and one written correctly. Ponies of the modern day and age only have access to simple chems, designed for use in labor. But this is the power of writing the true Chem- the Chem capable of creating a fully living, fully independent Golem. This creates a new character, whose stats are that of a first level character; a True Chem cannot be written for anything other than a regular-sized, generally pony-shaped statue, though it can be other species such as griffons or dragons. The result has free will, but also has an inborn, fierce loyalty to its creator.
All golems have the below racial talents.
The Name is Life
All golems exist for a purpose; this purpose is exemplified by a symbol inscribed upon a piece of paper and placed within them. All golems have a hatch somewhere on their person. In this hatch lies the chem: a piece of paper or some other material, upon which is written the name which animates the golem. When this chem is removed, the golem shuts down, losing all abilities until the chem is returned.
However, this effectively makes a golem immortal. If a golem's body is destroyed utterly, the chem can be removed and placed into another golem body; this revives the golem. Unfortunately, if the chem is destroyed- not just scribbled out, but the medium of the object destroyed- the golem is lost forever, and is counted as dead.
If the Golem is in a Winged shape:
Flying Doll
Your creaky body is not very suited to flight, but you manage. You take -10 to precision and Brawn skills while flying and may walk on clouds.
Mechanical
You are considered a magical construct. You do not age, nor do you need to eat, sleep, or drink or breathe. If a character would make a heal check to heal you, they make a mechanics or arcana check instead. With the proper resources (DM’s discretion), any severed part of your body may be reattached or recreated with the proper resources, so long as you have not been killed and any crippling injury can be repaired with the proper resources.
Purpose
You were made for a reason. At creation, your maker chooses a skill. You gain training in that skill.

Re: The Use of Chems
That's pretty neat, but it almost feels more like a destiny to me...
Once you get Utilities with up to 3 or four prerequisites it starts feeling that way.
A question though... can you have more than one permanent golem?

Re: The Use of Chems
Probably shouldn't be able to, no. Being able to create permanent infused life, with the capability to grow and mature just as ponies do, is pretty serious mojo!
Also, maybe it should be a destiny, yeah. More of a character-driving thing than a talent.
