Also note that being able to activate a d12 crit with any ease means you can generate 4 additional pips with Dazzling Performance, or slowly but steadily make your entire team awfully tanky with Knight's Presence. d12 crits are meant to be really, dangerous.

Very, very good points.

Yeah, D12s are a little ridiculous - predicated on the idea that they'll only trigger once every 1-2 battles (1 if lucky).

Let me begin with this: This was me mathhammering it.

I still stand by my proposed version of 5 dice = no d12s, 2 dice = who cares. The too often I'm complaining about is that Derpy's lightning can ever combo with critfisher to end a fight on turn 1. add in

Armor
While you are dazed, you may roll twice on all die rolls and use either result.
and a friend with both
Combat Talents wrote:[+1] Knife in the Dark - Standard Attack
Choose One: Deal 6 damage to one target creature; or deal 4 damage to two target creatures.
and
Combat Talents wrote:[-2] Below the Belt - Reaction Utility
Trigger - You deal 5 or more damage to a creature
Effect - That creature is dazed until the end of your next turn.
and you have the ability to almost assure yourself at least 1 if not more crit per turn -> end fight on turn 1 super-crit begins.

Oh, and that still leaves you the 2k required to buy Unacceptable so you can reroll all those pesky 1s.

You also don't need the ally if you just take DDRush, though that puts you back to turn two activation. It's still scary, though.

But you could leave DDRush out of your set when you had your dazer ally around, and then use it if you get isolated. So the build still works sans teamwork, and it's only slightly hampered.
