Re: The Hordes of the Blight - The Adventure
[Apologies for the delay, I was hoping Caden would post his initiative and stuff last night, which didn't happen. Anyway!]
Group 1:
The Channeler turns its energy inwards, finally erupting in an explosion of energy. It's still standing, but barely. The three Scythlings, meanwhile, turn their blades on themselves - and two of them collapse to the ground. The third is somewhat unsteady. The affected Surgeon injects itself with its own needles, while the Bloat... just wheezes.
Group 2:
Boss: Fog Assassin
The light that Paladin fires into the fog illuminates a frightening figure - just taller than a man, covered in sores and pustules leaking gas and fluids, with a pair of scythe-like arms growing out of its back and arcing over its its shoulders.
In that moment, it hisses and leaps - crossing the distance between its starting point and Paladin in a couple bounds. It slices its blades at him before leaping back into the fog, leaving a cloud of noxious gasses in its wake.
"I'll leave you all to get acquainted!" The man says, before running off into the forest.

- Combat Stuff:
- The Channeler does 8 + 15 damage to itself. It is now bloodied. Scythlings 1 and 2 are now down, while Scythling 3 takes 8 damage and is bloodied. Surgeon 1 deals 3 damage to itself and inflicts Ongoing Damage 1 (save ends). The Bloat does nothing. It is now Zakhar's turn.

Re: The Hordes of the Blight - The Adventure
That gas did not taste good. Aparix fell off-balance, turning towards the monstrosity as he did. At least he hoped that was a monstrosity and not a human undergoing a coincidence, because otherwise he was about to shoot a guy. And shoot he did - vision obscured by his own rags and the cloud, it's an amazing feat it hit at all, even glancing a blow as it was.
- Spoiler:
- Used Shooting from the Hip; I now suffer vulnerability 3 to Gassy's attacks until the end of my next turn. Also the thing in the gas cloud takes 3 damage. No save.

Re: The Hordes of the Blight - The Adventure
Group 1:
The Bloat gasps and coughs, before letting out a noxious purple gas that seems to slow the group down, making them more susceptible to enemy attacks. The Channeler, meanwhile, transfers more power into the last remaining Scythling.
Ghost Tracker meanwhile returns from the sky, landing next to the Bloat. She lets out a loud screech, disorienting it and providing an opening for Quill and Mitsuna to make attacks. Quill promptly fires an arrow at the beast, nicking it.
Group 2:
Bellator, with a less-than-sane laugh and charging of arcane power, brings out his blade and charges into the fog cloud, coming into view of the beast and striking it with his blade. The fog makes it difficult to land a solid hit, however. Lorez meanwhile launches a beam of blinding energy towards the outline of the monster, disorienting it.

- Combat Data:
- The Bloat is bloodied. The Bloat inflicts Vulnerability 3 (save ends) on all members of the party, sans Ghost Tracker. Ghost Tracker uses Go For The Eyes! inflicting Vuln 2 on the Bloat until the end of her turn, and Quill and Mitsuna can use the following attack:
[0] Shoot For The Eyes - Free Attack
Deal 1d10 damage to target creature.
Quill takes this opportunity and inflicts 5 damage on the Bloat, and I take the opportunity to not have to fill out the rest of the monsters' turns. Mitsuna gets to make that free attack before I continue.

Re: The Hordes of the Blight - The Adventure
Paladin brought up his sword to block the attacks from the sycthe-arms, though the sudden attack left him unbalanced. When the man ran away, Paladin scowled, wishing he could follow him, but with this threat presented to them, he couldn’t turn away... so instead he turned his back on the man, focusing fully on the threat in front of him, this blight hidden in the fog.
If Paladin was honest, he disliked how it was just a single creature, for his abilities were more directed towards large scales battles and taking on multiple enemies at once... though he wasn’t completely powerless one on one.
The runes on Paladin’s sword light up, glowing pure white as a new apparition appeared in front of the human spellblade, a summoning, but not of the fire giant. But off a pure white humanoid-figure, wielding a sword and shield and facing the assassin, striking a blow almost as soon as it appeared, while once again Paladin’s meer presence strengthen the defenses of his allies as he regained his balance.

I've lost track... Are there any Blighted that haven't had the Gauntlet thrown at it? If so, that one and Throw the Gauntlet please. If not, the Channeller.
Regrettably, my brain is dead and I can't make flavors...

Re: The Hordes of the Blight - The Adventure
Group 1:
With a gasp and a few more puffs of gasses, the Bloat unceremoniously falls over, unmoving.
Meanwhile, one of the Surgeons moves over to the last remaining Scythling and uses its mutated hand to mend the Blightspawn's damaged flesh. Its vigor renewed, the Scythling then charges forth, slashing with deadly intent at Mitsuna. The second surgeon moves to the Channeler, mending its wounds.
Group 2:
The creature leaps out from the fog once more, this time targeting Aparix with its slashes. Despite its blindness, it manages to aim on-target... mostly... okay, not really. Its swing goes wide, but still manages to knock Aparix off-balance.

- Combat Info:
- The Bloat is now out of the battle, finally. Anyway, I believe the Channeler is the only one with the gauntlet thrown at it... unless you threw it when you used Paranoia, in which case the only one not challenged is Surgeon 2.
Anyway, Surgeon 1 heals Scythling 3, making it no longer bloodied. Scythling 3 then inflicts 14 damage to Mitsuna. The other Surgeon heals the Channeler. Mitsuna's turn!

Re: The Hordes of the Blight - The Adventure
Aparix reeled back from the swing of the blade(?) and...
...the sword(?). That was a physical object, and not just some sort of vapor. That meant that...
Aparix, nimble of arm and nimble of finger, grabbed a stamp from his belt before the scythe(?) had half completed its off-arc. "Go back to Nu'Joursei!" he shouted as he slammed the golden sigil on the beast's outstretched weapon. It seemed like the right thing to say. The thing flew back into the cloud, looking confused, probably. Before the Gaseous Malefenci could re-situate itself, Aparix raised a well-practiced arm - no longer nimble, but about six times as sure - and sent a shot spiraling in between the creature's eyes, presuming it had eyes to speak of.
...he was pretty sure that was the thing's head. Well, not exactly sure, but...actually, maybe that wasn't between the eyes at all. Still, it had hit somewhere, and that was what was important, Aparix assured himself confidently.

- Spoiler:
- Used Stamp Act to interrupt our foggy friend's attack - I don't take the damage and it is stunned until the end of its next turn. Also did 1 damage with called shot, because heaven forbid I get a good roll...unless it's a saving throw, in which case I get a 13. Hooray!

Re: The Hordes of the Blight - The Adventure
- Combat:
- [-2] Wheel of Fortune - Interrupt Utility
Scythling 3 chooses a new, random target for that 14 damage that Mitsuna would have taken. I'll let the GM pick it, but let me know if some freak coincidence makes it hit Mitsuna anyways.
Why yes, I did use it with Tragedy, which targeted all three Scythlings if memory serves. As well as the Channeller, one of the Surgeons (not sure which?), and the Bloat. Paranoia is a utility, and therefore can't trigger Throw The Gauntlet.
[+2] Paranoia - Standard Utility
Scythling 3 Makes an attack of it's choice against the Channeller.
[0] Prepare Spell - Minor Utility
Out Arcing Bolt.
In Distracting Illusion.
Mitsuna dodged back nimbly. Focusing on her new adversary, Noxa's will commanded it to start attacking it's fellows in retribution...

Re: The Hordes of the Blight - The Adventure
Disoriented, the Scythling strikes at a different target - Ghost Tracker, severely injuring the Blightscorned. It strikes again at the Channeler - but this time it's far less potent. As a final act, in its delirium it stabs itself, and falls over to the ground.
- Spoiler:
- Ghost Tracker now has 3 HP left, which is also the amount of damage dealt by the Scythling to the Channeler. It does, however, take 19 damage from Throw the Gauntlet, and is now out of the fight.
- Edit:
- Also forgot to mention, but everyone in group 2 suffers 2 damage, and Aparix, Lorez, and Bellator are dazed (save ends)

[Not much to report here. It's Zakhar's turn, and the only foes left in the fight are the two Surgeons and the Channeler.]
Group 2:
Bellator, shouting incomprehensible things which probably relate to battle, takes another swing at the stunned Fog Assassin, managing a grazing hit. Lorez, meanwhile, takes the opportunity to charge more power for an impending attack.

Re: The Hordes of the Blight - The Adventure
As the being in the fog struck out at Aparix, the avenger struck back, a solid blow dealt to the assassin before it could retreat back to its cover. After Bellator struck out, and Lorez began gathering energy, Paladin decided that now would be a good time to help his allies deal more damage to the asssasin, a blade of light shot though the fog once more, doing no damage, but stick to the creature and illuminating it, making it much easier to hit and to hurt, which the glowing avenger took advantage off to land a quick blow.

Aparix choked out something smarmy, or at least made the attempt to. That stuff was stronger than any alcohol.
Well, not any alcohol. Most of them, though.
At any rate, that thing -whatever it was - either didn't like him very much or else liked him entirely too much. Hoping it was the first option, as killing things that liked him left a bad taste in Aparix's mouth...or maybe that was the gas...or the alcohol...anyway, the small-statured shooter raised his weapon once more, taking careful aim...

Re: The Hordes of the Blight - The Adventure
As the party fought, they could faintly hear rustling sounds, like the flapping of wings, and the winds blowing through the trees. Then, suddenly as Aporix attempted to fire, a flash of light, accompanied by a loud crack briefly flashed in front of them.
"Now, that's a bit more than I was expecting." A woman with long blonde hair and brown and gold clothes dropped down from the sky. Or rather a woman with long blond hair, brown clothes, and gold and brown wings in place of arms. Around her neck was a thin metal chain holding a white circle containing a spiral. "But that's Mutus for you. The Ever-changing One isn't about to let you fall into a pattern when it comes to the Blight." The chain began crackling and sparking, and the woman's eyes took on a wilder look. "Now would you friendly people happen to need any help?"

Paladin was surprised when a flyer turned up, joining the battle all of a sudden. However, he really didn’t mind, and in fact, smiled grimly, and nodded at her question, saying. “The help would be much appreciated.” Before launching an attack, his avenger moving alongside him so they struck at the beast together, working as a pair to inflict a serious wound onto the beast before pulling back, Paladin’s presence protecting Apraix and the newcomer from harm.

Aparix grit his pointy teeth. making a mental note to thank wossname later for the assist.
Now, though, he needed to focus.
In another reality, a shot would have rung out, but here the metal flew forward as swiftly and silently as a godly arrow, and with almost as much staggering power. It would help, however, if Aparix could stop making such glancing blows.
No more picking pockets. No more gutters and seedy bars. He would be a better shot, or he'd be a worse person.
He breathed in.
'I feel your pulse," Aparix mumbled. It was a saying back in his village, something old and familiar amidst a world gone mad. It didn't translate perfectly into the common tongue, but the gist of it was "I understand you now, your hopes and desires, your innermost being, your all." Aparix, however, had managed to perform an act of cultural appropriation on his own people, and used the phrase mostly to mean that he had an eye for the target now, and was confident he would not miss. Perhaps, at heart, he was still a thief after all.
He breathed out.
He pulled the trigger a second time.

The thing in the fog snarled - both at the new arrival and at the damage it was receiving. Its eyes blazed with fury. Its shoulder leaked a combination of blood and pus. Still the pores on its body produced the noxious gas, and still it fought on.

Re: The Hordes of the Blight - The Adventure
The bird woman, watching the group fight nodded appreciatively. While they were doing that though, she began humming to herself. It was one of the more simple song sung in tribute to Mutus, but it would do the job.
It was indeed a tricky thing to call on the power of Mutus directly. Sometimes his power could feel like it was shredding your insides. But sometimes it could shred your enemies jsut as well. As the lightning flowed through her necklace, Rai was able to direct his power outwards, producing a minor shoc, and inwards, causing pain, but helping to create a storm inside her that she was aching to let out. But not just yet.
To take her mind of the pain and the chaos within, Rai smiled and turned towards the others. "I'm Rai, by the way. What kind of names do you have?"

- Spoiler:
- You actually have 24 HP, mj - don't forget the fog cloud dealt 4 damage to the party.
"Bellator!" The thus-named Lokira called out. From context it would have been unclear whether it was his name or a war-cry, but the former it was. "Less talk, more killing!" He yelled as he charged at the fog monster. But as he approaches, the monster seems to disappear into the fog. While his blows do land, they're glancing at best.
Lorez, meanwhile, launches a blast of blinding light from her hands, striking the creatures and causes it to clutch at its eyes with its free hands in pain. Having given herself an opening, she said, "M'name's Lorez!"
- Spoiler:
- Bellator deals 7 damage to the Fog Assassin, Lorez 9, and the latter attack blinds it until the end of its next turn. It is now Paladin's turn. Note - Lorez is bloodied.

Re: The Hordes of the Blight - The Adventure
The Fog Assassin's strike cleaved though the avenger, sending it back from where it came, and making Paladin grimace as he blocked the blow himself, coughing as the fog washed over them. He wasn’t able to block all of the blows however, and the monster drew blood. He was starting to flag... but he could go on for much longer, and the monster was flagging.
“Keep fighting, we’re wearing it down!” He encouraged everyone, whilst focusing his ki once more, before using his gift to transfer it to Lorez, wanting to make sure his allies stayed save before himself. He didn't answer what his name was, as he was a bit busy with the fighting. Introductions could wait until AFTER this monster had been vanquished.

Lorez offers a word of thanks as her wounds are healed.
Meanwhile, the Fog Assassin may be unable to see, but it can feel. And it's with this talent that it brings its scythe-like talons up to its mouth, slathering them with venom once more, letting the fog take its toll on the party.

Another blitz of metal arced through the air - Aparix had given up on precision shots now that he had a better idea of the target, it seemed.
