[Feature] Introducing GafferBot - The Dice Rolling Robot

Hey there, everyone! Just a quick little announcement to let you all know that the dice rolling function has been repaired and while far from a perfect solution it's now possible to roll dice on-site.

Just use the 'Dices Roll' selection at the bottom of your page when posting and GafferBot will come up with some shiny dice rolls for you on the spot.

Here's a quick demonstration. Feel free to use this thread to experiment with the dice rolling system.

I prefer off-site rolls. Makes it less messy by not having an entire other post with just rolls.

Is there any way to add built in titles/comments to the rolls or do you simply have to remember? I also agree about the post spam being an issue.

It's not a perfect solution, admittedly, but it was quick to configure and there's no reason not to put through the fix. Unfortunately this one is simply the properly configured Forumotion dice rolling hack, which allows for very little customisation - I'm working on a javascript based solution, but it's harder than normal because forumotion policy prevents database access.

I still prefer offsite options but I'm glad the option is here.

Also, y'all might want a basic FAQ on this thing. It's not complex but still makes sense to do so.

same here... I'm not a fan of this GafferBot... Don't think I'll use it that much. But still cool that it exists.

I think I shall ban my players from using it, but use it myself occasionally in my own games in seemingly random moments, so basically I post just a small thing and then the bot will be all like "HERE'S THE ROOOOOOLLS YOU JUST MADE DM!" and I'll pretend to be all like "Shush" but it's what I wanted...

Generally with something of such footprint it's better to leave it in the OOC thread. Still, there if you need it. And as said, working on my own solution, which might be a while in the works because of design constraints.

I just had an idea!

Take away all the junk on the right-hand side to that the posts are absolutely never longer than what is needed for the text itself, and it might get more use than it does. If it was tiny like that, then it would actually be preferable to scouring messy posts for what their rolls are.

Until then, it is a bit odd when the Gafferbot takes up more post space than the actual poster does.

Figure I should probably use this sometime. Testing...
