Discordian Promise

"...We try to beat Discord at his own game." Steel says, finishing Midas' sentence. "Anyways, I think we should still stay together. Power in numbers."

Sunlit Wave smiles widely as Compass rose leapt up, but frowns and sighs quietly at Skitterbuzz's remark. "Splitting up is probably a dangerous idea anyhow." He says, mostly to Midas. "As far as the rules of the game, we're to try and reunite the Elements of Harmony. I suppose our groups is more making an effort to...rebuild the Elements of Harmony. What we do with them after that...well, nobody has ever gotten that far. I suppose we'll make it up as we go."

"Better factoid... Why are we doing this? Outside of the fact that it's for Discord's humor... That part is clear." Marked added, he fully didn't understand anything about the elements. "And... Again, what's the importance of these elements?"

"Well as far as I know, none of use can leave and return home unless we succeed." Sunlit Wave says with a hint of annoyance. "I believe in Discord's exact words, the elements are 'the only things that could contain my might.' If that could becomes a can, who knows what happens."

Midas shrugged quietly. "I don't really know. I figured Discord just hated us and wanted to make us hurt."

"Ah..." Marked said seemingly finally getting it now, mulling over the possible outcomes that could mean with how this game plays out.

"Well then, if we've answered your question, let's start with that door." Sunlit Wave says brusquely, pointing a hoof behind him. He turns around, smiling slight slightly and says "Ah, the wrench door. I was wondering which one I pointed at."

Midas nodded, then walked up to the door and knocked on it.

The marking on the door glowed briefly, then it swung back. Midas could see a dim corridor ahead

Midas jumped a little bit, but after calming down, he lit up his horn with Celestia's light.

Everyone was so focused on the doors. Compass could understand that, there didn't seem to be any other way out... but still.

Five doors, for six elements. It sounded as if whoever had put the doors there wanted them to split up, except then where was the sixth pony supposed to go? And...
Who had arranged these doors to appear anyway? Discord?

"Something's not right here," she muttered, turning away from the doors and back to the statue. It had something to do with it.

Whatever they did, it fixed up a worn statue, and brought color to it. That had to mean something. And Compass didn't want to leave without figuring out what.

Compass could see that the statue was very well made. The coloring, positioning all were perfect. The expression on her face was one of surprise, and a hint of fear rather than the wise and inspiring smile her followers tended to depict her with. Even so, the followers of the Faithful Student would be thrilled to have the statue in their main hall. For one thing, they had long wondered what her cutie mark was, and it was clearly visible.

But the tiara, that was the important bit. Now that Compass too a closer look, the tiara actually seemed to match what the different groups had settled on the original form of the Element of Magic. And the Faithful Student was wearing it in its full, undamaged form.

The pedestal itself was perhaps a bit less pristine. she could see five holes of various sizes, evenly spaced in the pedestal.

"So... What else can we figure out about this room... There is some gag or puzzle or something here to figure out... I mean the fact of five exits seems to hint that the other half of that element thing might be here or somethin'." Marked commented as he looked around himself trying to figure out what the deal could be with this room.

Midas turned around when he noticed nopony was following him, but he didn't say anything. Instead, experimentally, he focused Celestia's Light into a beam and fired it at the statue's tiara.

Compass turned to look at Marked as if breaking from a dream. She blinked, and for a second a frown, as if wondering why they were there, crossed her face.

"A gag? What do you mean?"

She slid the shard if Magic out of her pocket, holding it between her hooves and looking up at the Student. The tiara she wore... if that was the element of Magic, what was Compass carrying.

"Five doors for six elements," she mumbled. "Five holes on a pedestal. But there are six elements..."

She frowned. She was never very good at puzzles.
Maybe someone else should take a look at the statue, instead of obsessing over the -mundane- doors. She opened her mouth to say so, when Midas shot a beam of light.

The beam of light hit the tiara, and bounced off the ceiling, the floor, and several walls before nailing Midas in the eyes. Nothing else reacted

"Well like that little light-based gag there... I'd rate it a 4/5, good for a lighthearted chuckle." Marked answered with a chuckle. Then hearing there was holes in the pedestals, goes to look them over... For any major traps or something.

perception check:

Compass ducked, holding her hooves over her head as the light ricocheted across the room. She flinched; she might not be good at science, but, well, she knew direction. And that little lance of light was headed-

"Midas!" she yelped, leaping back to her feet. It might have just been light, but a full blast of it, right in the eyes?

For the first time since entering the room, she ignored the statue of the student and stepped towards the younger pony.
"Are you okay?nit's not funny Marked," she added. "What if he hurt himself?

"Yeah... That's comedy.. It's painful sometimes. That brand is called slapstick. Buck it, the fact that he was the one that sent out the light to get it end up shined into his own eyes... It's funny to end up with such a clear silly fail like that." Marked explains as he goes over the holes and junk for traps.

Looking over the holes in the statue, Marked noticed that while the sizes were all different, the shapes of the wholes was uniform. They looked a little bit like keyholes...

"Ok... This is odd... Looks like keyholes of some type. Weird..." The Diamond Dog comments with a bit of confusion.

Sunlit Wave jumps slightly as the light shoots around the room, darting a bothered glance at Marked Question before hurrying over to Midas. "Five keyholes, five corridors." He remarks absently, distracted by his once-over of Midas.

OOC:

Midas seemed to be a bit dazed, but was otherwise unharmed

Midas fell down when the light hit him in the eyes, his horn returning to an ambient glow rather than a beam. He rubbed his eyes with his hooves, tears running down his face more from the brightness than from the pain. "Ow! Ow ow ow ow ow bright ow."

Midas opened his eyes and found that there was a pink blur in front of him. "M'okay. Everything's fuzzy though."

Compass sighed as she stepped back. Just being dazed was a relief... even if Midas wasn't a unicorn, and hadn't brought them here, he was still a kid.

"But...if they're keyholes, what do they unlock?" she said, looking over the statue again. "Does gathering all five mean we...free her?"

Now Compass was starting to feel as dazed as Midas looked.
