The top gives a bit but doesn't quite pop the way you feel it would to open. It seems to need more weight than you can provide without rolling something working a little harder or smarter about this.

There's a loud POP as the Cruxtruder bursts open and spews out a flashing, pony sized ball of light blue...well, light. It also spurts out the upper half of a similar colored pillar of crystal that looks the right size for the lathe.

A countdown appears on the clock on the side. Apparently, you have seven minutes and four seconds until something happens.

Ocean stared; between the two of them, the machines took up most of the space in her room. Maybe she should have had DP drop them outside or something.

TC: I have no idea what this thing is.
TC: You have no idea how much this annoys me.

Still, unlike the Alchemeter, the Cruxtruder had something she could manipulate- or which looked like it anyway. With some misgivings, Ocean spread her wings, and landed next to the smoke stack.

TC: Here goes nothing.
TC: Hopefully Starbutt has not made this thing radioactive.

She slipped her PDA between her teeth, hooves and wings wrapping around the small, black wheel on the side of the machine and beginning to push.

Spoiler:
Wasn't sure what operating that wheel would fall under so...rolled for each stat I thought was appropriate.

Mechanics[9] + d20[11] = 20
Athletics [3] + d20[4] = 7
Endurance[3] + d20[5]= 8

The wheel actually moves extremely easily and your own force nearly lands you flat on your face. However, you can't turn it very far before there's a clunk from inside and it stops moving. It seems that whatever that wheel was moving just hit the cap on top.

CA: Uh, sure, thanks, but we probably should get items ready now, and since you know what to do, somehow, you're explaining how you figured that out later, then I don't have to worry about us getting lost on what to do.
CA: So I'm going to look for a clear space to put all these free ones close together, and then I'll deploy them, and I'll try my best not to break anything.
CA: If you don't mind, I mean, and also should we complete that daisy chain sooner rather then later, because we all are in pairs but three of us don't have a server, and three of us don't have a client, and it seems like these items are important, so we probably should make sure everyone has them, if that makes sense?
CA: If you all think it's a good idea, just pointing it out.

And Ink Well is going to look for someplace to put the Cruxtruder, Totem Lathe, and Alchemiter, preferably as close together as possible without breaking anything or making it impossible to move around.

Spolier:
Nah, don't worry I'm fine waiting. Don't worry about it until we get in-in the game, okay? It's kind of a relief to not have to worry too much honestly, I get busy a lot lately, family being good and caring and trying to get me out of the house, that sort of thing. Sorry for the late reply, anyway.

She felt like some kind of slapstick pony to be laughed at, crashing in such an up dignified manner. Somehow, she managed to keep her PDA in her mouth and her sunglasses in place when she fell.

Behind her dark shades, she directed a glare at the machine when her device buzzed with incoming messages. She stared at it for a moment before replying.

TC: If anyone else has gotten a Cruxtruder cap open, let me know.
TC: I am currently feeling the urge to buck it.
TC: Creative does have a point though
TC: And You have already installed two of the machines.
TC: Destiny, could you add a lathe to my growing collection of esoteric machinery?[
TC: An alchemeter, a Cruxtruder and a lathe.
TC: I think Starbutt is just making up words.

TC: So that is why it didn't appear as a typo.
TC: Well, the other two are certainly made up, so my point still stands.
TC: I do not have a preference
TC: But I would appreciate it if you could make my room bigger and add it there.

You manage to enlargen the room a great deal, making it much less cramped than it was before and about 5/3 of it's former size. Your build grist goes down to 180.

LF: Really? You wanna make things complicated that quickly?
LF: Alright, fine, I'll explain it to you.
LF: Completing the chain as soon as possible is a great idea, admittedly, but if we go to it too quickly everyone will be rushing between doing their own thing and being someone else's server.
LF: Which needs to happen eventually anyway, but I figure should be put off until we figure out exactly what these machines do, and maybe some of this other stuff.
LF: Not just how they work.
LF: I'll tell you how I know how they work as soon as I figure out how I know they work, promise.
LF: Me knowing stuff on instinct has kind of been a thing my entire life?
LF: I've learned to just kind of go with it and then things usually turn out okay, so long as I can get other people to listen to me.
LF: This is why I bug you guys so often. Like for example:
LF: Watch the skies carefully while we play this game, alright folks?
LF:...oh, and uh, yeah, placing that stuff down's just fine.
LF: It doesn't matter where; trust me, this place is messier than an exploding paint bucket already.

GG: oh dear

Blank does a quick read through of the chat history to see what the others had done.

GG: we just opened the cap and it gave us a timed mission with no objective
GG: TC LF do either of you know what to do with that?
GG: it gave us a floating glowing orb thing and a cruxite
GG: also
GG: im up for making daisy chains

Blank stared at his monitor for some time after, trying to judge just how tired he was, and what making real daisy chains would be like.

The lathe buzzed to life again, this time carving the dowel into a symetrically abstract, wobbly sort of shape. The seizorb continues to flash in your peripheral vision.

The Alchemiter comes alive and scans the totem with its laser. A brilliantly blue crystalline cloud forms over the alchemiter, seemingly brimming with lightning and rain. The clock on the Cruxtruder is at five minutes.

TC: Something heavy?
TC: I will be right back.

Ocean walked towards her book shelf, picking through it. A moment later, she pulled something out; a giant, thick, hard-backed book that seemed barely read. Anyone who caught a glimpse of the cover would see a stallion, covered in pouches and gross musculature, and a mare, bent in suggestive ways which were not scientifically possible.

Ocean measured the book in hoof...then threw it towards the Cruxtruder with all her might. As it banged against the machine, she began typing again.

TC: I finally found a use for Lifields Aquamare run.
TC: It is an excellent bludgeoning tool.

The book doesn't hit quite dead on, but instead its corner catches on the cruxtruder's top, causing it to slam down heavily atop the device. The clock starts ticking down at 11 minutes and 44 seconds and the cruxtruder bursts open, releasing a seizorb of bright pink and the top half of some similarly colored cruxite. In doing so, however, the Lifieldian Aquamare book is also flung into the air and falls down towards the seizorb.

Meta:
That wasn't going to work because you threw it sideways and not down,  but Liefeld bashing will save your soul.

Anyway, wanna roll something?

>Palette: Dance around and sing "I'm a Little Tea Pot" while rubbing your head and patting your belly

That is the dumbest thing you've gotten the urge to do in weeks!!!

STUPID STUPID STUPID

And yet, the uncovered expanse of your fuzzy-coated belly...

It beckons.

>Palette: Offer yourself as server to someone cute.

Not a bad idea, actually. Unfortunately, it might take some doing, as you've never seen any of your COMPATRIOTS in person before. Judging who's pretty from typing quirk alone has led ponies wrong in the past, and who knows how much of a HANDICAP you'd be taking, Mr. Titular?

But on the other hoof, you're STARVED for attention and, while well-versed in OLD ADAGES like "BEGGARS CAN'T BE CHOOSERS" and "GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT", you think it follows logically that if you PRETEND not to be a beggar, you'll be able to CHOOSE whatever you like. After all, as another OLD ADAGE says, "BELIEVING IN FAKE THINGS MAKES THEM SLIGHTLY LESS FAKE". And it thus logically follows from there that if you can get OTHER PEOPLE to believe things, those things will become EVEN LESS FAKE and therefore more REAL.

...your blatant attempts to PAINT OVER REALITY with more appealing COLORS aside, you'd better get on what the urges are telling you to. They cannot be DENIED for long, which now that you're acknowledging it sounds moderately SINISTER, but whatever.

LF: Okay, so which one of you chuckeheads thinks they're the cutest?
LF: Excepting you, Ink.
LF: Not to discount your beauty; in fact being too attractive might be the problem.
LF: It's vital that I be server to whosoever among you is the fairest, apparently, but if it turns out Ink is mad attractive and I connect to them, we two will be playing an entirely different game than the rest of you.
LF: Which would be bad, for those of you not paying attention at home.
LF: Which I'm willing to bet is all of you.

Bright, having given TC the last item, had been waiting idly to see what happened next. But when she saw the giant book about to fall on the likely important orb, she sprung into action. Since Bright preferred to use a hybrid system of the Telekinet, she was able to use her magic to briefly speed up her machine's processing, and switch to Revise mode and attempt to move the book out of the way.
