Not content to bask in simple intimidation, the letters of the entity swirled and contorted around the room. Through a sinister sensory strikedown, it seemed to be daring the STOMP team to attack as they tasted terrifying pain.

And then the coffeee hit.
Grease's brain registered the pain. It almost simultaneously registered the futility of reacting to it, or to doing anything other than it's most efficient course. "Dustyairventtakequillwithyouwe'llkeepbusy." He says, swiftly zipping up his jacket and unfurling his electric wings to their full wingspan, filling the room. As they passed through creatures, they left a trail of energizing sparks in their wake, and filled the room with a pale, gentle blue light, to match Tilde's sinister fluorescence.

As the unpleasant synesthesia continued, the STOMP team could feel a shift in the area around them.  It was less of direct pain and more of illness and weariness as the glowing letters flowed around them.

OOC:

Temp HP shuffle, it's now:
10 temp HP to Gearick
10 temp HP to Ruby
3 temp HP to Grease's familiar.

All players are dazed until the end of their next turn.  All players and their summons suffer 5 ongoing damage (save ends).  Currently not directly targeting Trotson but doing more of a handwavy "and then he passed out".

Ruby frowns a little, bracing herself as the she feels the bile rising in her throat as her head begins to swim with nausea. Swallowing down the unpleasant sensation with some effort, the crystal shine around her pulses as her head clears.

"Well.... that was unpleasant..."

“Bleck.” Gearick ‘said’ gagging a little bit as a feeling of illness swept over him. The unicorn grimaced as he summoned a small ball of electricity, that shot a bolt of lighting towards the swirling glowing letters. “This thing is annoying me more and more.” Gearick muttered, even as he looked around the room, trying to judge how big it is. “Problem is, I’m not sure this place is big enough to bring out the big guns.”

As Nightshade woke up, she saw a disappointed Brisk Iron looking at her as two unicorns stood a several paces farther back. "Wandering through restricted areas and tampering with files is disappointing to say the least."



Grease could see the letters from his own words appear in front of his eyes as they twisted and contorted.  Likewise, so could the other STOMP members.  Their words then wrapped back upon them with bright dizzying lights.

OOC:
Yes, taking damage to Temp HP counts for taking damage for Perfect Focus.  I remember that being answered in one of the Ask a Simple Question threads.

All players suffering ongoing damage take 10 damage and suffer a -1 penalty to their next saving throw.

Ruby looks around as her companions are attacked by their own words and frowns. Closing her eyes, she takes a deep breath, focusing on her magic as the shine on her coat brightens into an outright glow before flowing down through her hooves and into a wave of light as it hits the floor. As the crystal light passes over their others, their coats and scales briefly take on the same gem-like sparkle as they feel a rush of energy within before it passes. Ruby's own glow dims faintly for a moment before she releases the breath she'd been holding.

"There we are!"

Nightshade rubs her eyes as she regains conscientiousness.

"Frisk Ion... is that you? Did they capture you as well? They tried to torture me but I didn't say nothin', boss."

She shakes her head and then staggers to her feet. It takes a moment for her to grasp what is happening. She quickly recovers back to her perky personality.

"Ah..." she pauses for a moment as a smile of relief comes across her face.

"This place is like a lateral labyrinth. The halls just spiral into sharp 90 degree turns. This place must of been build by some orderly madmare or something."

She turns her head around sharply as if looking for something.

"How... how do you tell if something is restricted around here? You guys should really put up signs or something. Somepony could get lost and cause a ruckus."

"Actually, I'm not concerned about damaging this place at all. I'm more concerned with the fire giant turning us into ash." Gearick said calmly when Grease commented about rebuilding the place, through the unicorn was a little surprised he actually managed to keep up with the dragon considering just how lighting fast he was talking currently. Deciding not to take the risk, Gearick focused his magic. Rearing up on his hooves a blazing white run crafted itself in front of him as the unicorn intoned. "Tutori rei lux, Te peto ad colligunt usque tuus ensis et vestram servetis iusiurandum ut mihi"

From the rune emerged the solider of light once more, a indistinct figure which only its sword could clearly be made out, a weapon that was drawn from its sheathe as it spoke, its voice deep and resonant
. "Per meum ensis et per juramentum meum, Ego percutiet eos qui resistunt tibi!" Without any more ceremony, the avenger struck. Sycthing its blade through the letters that made up the enemy, as the ball of electircy shot out another weak spark, Gearick feel back to his feet and his eyes stopped glowing.

Nightshade tries to keep a composed face while trying to hold back smiling wildly. The thought of taking life serious was a most entertaining idea.

"I don't believe I have ever slack off in any of my responsibilities as of yet. My approach might be unorthodox but there is a method to my madness. I believe that is why you hired me. If you over specialize you breed in weakness. As for the serious part..."

She restrains herself from laughing.

"Ahem, forgive me, as for the serious part you make it sound like we have any control over these events. We are nether the end nor beginning of this story, we just continue the cycle. Do you think stomp is the first ones to try protect the world from evil artifacts? All these ancient ruins we explore to collect these artifacts, were they to not built in their time to keep the same artifacts secure from evil as well? In a few thousand years when stomp is buried and forgotten in the sands of time and it's vaults are left to the plunderers and raiders who then will be there to protect it from the things it discovered?"

Her face takes on a more serious tone.

"I do the things that need to be done at the time they need to be done. Forgive me if my enthusiasm is weakened by knowing how this story is going end. If you take the things you can't control to seriously it will only end up driving you mad in the long run."

"Claiming to know how the 'story' will end sounds a bit full of yourself.  Similarly, there's a difference between having a lighter outlook and simply not caring.  You will be given one more chance.  One of the ponies here will escort you to either the break room or the door, your choice.  Also, it seems some of your belongings will be returned.  There's a bit of an oddity with your book." Brisk Iron returned Nightshade's grimoire but upon opening it, the Nightshade discovered that every single page was now blank.

"Of course I'll chose the break room. I haven't eaten in what seems like forever. I'm starving. Say, has everpony ever chosen to go with the door before?"

The thought of rejecting food just sounds absurd to her and she waves off the notion.

"Ponies often confuse confidence for arrogance. I know how all the stories end because everypony's story ends the same way. I've seen this play out hundreds of times before. If I didn't have fun with it I would have probably died of boredom ages ago. It is always best to die laughing, you know."


She puts her necklace back on and then opens her book.

"Well, this is strange..."

Her eyes dart back and froth across the pages as if she is reading the word that aren't there as a sinister grin creeps across her face.

"All the pages are blank. This could mean a few things. Either the little scamps are hiding and need to be coaxed out or someone unwittingly released them from the book and they are off reeking havoc somewhere. Or any number of infinite possibilities. It is hard to tell just by looking at it."

She takes a moment to examine the book more closely.

As Nightshade examined the pages, it didn't seem like magic was removed from her grimoire.  Rather, it seemed as if there had never been magic, or even writing, there at all.  There was an emptiness to it that hadn't been there before and the attempt to search for it was leaving her tired.



Meanwhile, Tilde continued its assault on the STOMP team.  Letters danced in and out of their vision as a sharp shock shook them to the core.

OOC:
All engaging in battle take 10 damage (before resistance or vulnerability).
Those suffering save ends effects take an additional 5 damage.

"Wait, something is wrong. What is this? ...No, no, no, no!"

She holds the open book sideways and shakes it as if something was going to fall out.

"It is nothing, it's empty. It is completely void of magic. This can't be mine! It must be a fake!"

With a frantic look she dashes towards Brisk and puts a hoof on her chest.

"What happened to it? Who was the last one to touch it!? We have to figure it out before it's to late!"

The sudden burst of emotion has left her feeling a bit fatigued.

The Celestial Avenger managed to strike at Tidle as the magic struck against them, but unfournantly that was all it could do. Tidle's attack was powerful enough to banish it and dispersed the spark, making Gearick scowl, and covering how his legs wobbled at Tilde's attack. "Oh to tartarus with this!" He cursed before his eyes glowed an angry red and he reared up on his hooves once more. "Elemento ignis hic opem petimus, ut debitum repensatum!"

A firey run formed in front of him as he spoke, a large one that stretched from roof to floor. After the chant was done, his fire giant emerged from the room, dominating the room and whilst the tempature heated it, it wasn't unbearable... through the furniture of the resting room did get set on fire due to his presence.
