Re: The Final Prize [IC]

Post  Dusk Raven on Thu Jan 22, 2015 9:00 pm

One moment, Evil Eye was panting and glaring at the opposing side... and the next, they had conceded defeat.

Being a guard, he was well-trained in how to handle those that surrender. But this wasn't a situation where he could take them into custody, and they sank into the floor much as Evil Eye and his companions had previously. Evil Eye sighed and sat back on his haunches, even as Storm Blade addressed the crowd. He chuckled slightly at his fellow guard's antics...

Survival is forever.

Blackstar raised an eyeridge in surprise. "So forfieting is an option? Good to know." Inwardly, he asked Supernova, You alright, Kiddo?

I'm fine, old man. Probably better than you. Just give me a few minutes

"Pointless? Oh dear me.  You seem to forget that a mind in isolation without stimulation will go positively mad.  And the audience does seem quite mad that once mighty warriors would so easily lay down arms.  We'll let anyone go who wins and they were oh so close to winning."

Blackstar walked over to Storm Blade and put a hoof gently on his shoulder. "Not saying you aren't right, but probably not a good idea to insult the bloodthirsty cowards who could probably throw us against a team of fully grown dragons next." he said quietly, hoping the crowd couldn't hear him.

Acoustic leaned on his guitar and closed his eyes. "We should probably make sure we finish off our opponents from now on, it would kinder to them if that voice is implying what I think its implying."
Get the feeling we'll be made to fight until we die, or worse lose, should probably figure out how to get out of here. and probably handle that announcer too...

Blackstar was waiting for Storm Blade to respond to his comment, but Supernova had better ideas, and questions. As a good grandfather, he relayed them dutifully.

"You know, as long as we're talking, Announcer Lady, mind answering a few questions? Like, how exactly do we 'win'? We've already beaten a few groups. Is there some sort of quota we have to reach?"

"It's a bit of a weighted scoring system to determine how far and how fast you proceed.  Details would spoil the fun.  However, since you've charmed the audience ever so, how about I offer you a bonus round?  If you win, we'll allow you to interact with your prior opponents in a non-combat situation."

"It's also a good way to make certain they're okay." He adds quietly.

Storm Blade ignored the comments and reactions to the others. Only concerned with the announcer lady... something about interacting with those five bothered him, but he shrugged it aside, saying firmly. "We will take this bonus round of yours, and we shall beat it." Confident in the party's ability to take on anyone that stood against them, and they were only getting stronger.

Blackstar twisted his lips. He didn't miss that "slip" about the dangers of the bonus round, but frankly, he would have been surprised if it hadn't been frought with death and destruction. Only one problem though...

Don't worry, Gramps, I got this. Love some good old fashioned target practice.

Well, that was taken care of. Blackstar nodded. "Alright then. If everybody else is for it, I guess I am too."

"Very well then.  Let's get things ready."  The fighters briefly sank into the floor for a minute, then they rose back up into an area that didn't look like the arena.  All around them was dried out trees in a desolate forest.  Suspended in the air were a multitude of glowing orange crystals.  Suddenly, there was a whistling noise like a mixture between a tea kettle and a sharp inhale and then crystals near Supernova and Living Lightning exploded in a fiery blast. "It seems like the bonus round has begun!"

OOC:
Supernova and Living Lightning take 40 damage. [reaction attack - Sunstone Crystal]

While there are currently "60" crystals, it is technically considered to be only one target with hitting many as flavoring based on damage.
As usual, regular heal to full but fatal damage stays.

As the team began to rise through the ground, Living Lightning curls up on the floor like a large jungle cat. By the time they reach the re-purposed arena, Dark storm clouds have formed overhead, just inside the top of the dome. It gets progressively darker in the arena until the explosions light the place once more.
"Nnneat." Living Lightning murmurs sleepily, his voice echoing a little as his voice box loses proper form in the blast. His tail twitches, and a ball of lightning flies over and lands on Supernova's withers, sinking in like a small water balloon.

OOC:

This is a great battle to try this style.
First off, using Knight's Challenge as I roll Initiative to challenge THE SWARM, as I will be referring to them. This means that I can activate Shielding Knight when Supernova gets hit by their opening attack (I cleared it with Zamuel, it's checks out). So Supernova gains 10 HP.

Then I'm just going to use Demand Duel to gain energy. I don't want to overwrite my challenge on THE SWARM, so I'm going to challenge Supernova. Don't worry, I can opt out of the dealing damage part of things.

HP: 70
Energy: 6

Re: The Final Prize [IC]

Supernova reeled a bit at the sudden attack of the Gems, but she had never thought this was going to be easy. Lightning's heath boost helped as well. Now she was ready.

In a few swift moves, Supernova detached the cane from her legs (Gramps always kept the thing so tight) and flipped it into the air.Once it was out of her hooves, Gramps slowed it's movements long enough to allow it to charge, so when she grabbed it out of the air, it was sparking and ready to go. Supernova decided to let off a smaller blast first, svign energy for the big blasts later.

Crystals gonna get wrecked.

turn+status:
Obviously, declaring the swarm my prey.

[-1] Withering Cane - Minor Utility (Bladespell)
The next Single attack you make also causes the target to suffer Weakness 5.

[-2] Frikin’ Lazer Beams (Lightning Vortex) - Standard Action (Attack, Single)
Roll a d6 and gain the corresponding result.
Odd: Deal 2d20 damage to target creature.
Even: Gain 4 energy, then deal 1d12 damage to target creature.

d6: 6 Even. I double checked this time.

d12:8

Gain 4 Energy.

Deal 10+8=18 damage to Swarm
Inflict Weakness 5 on Swarm

Re: The Final Prize [IC]

Post  Fury of the Tempest on Wed Feb 11, 2015 10:05 am

"Time for pure offense." Storm Blade said a little needlessly as they faced down the horde. Charging his swords with lighting the pegasus charged forwards through the swarm of crystals. Using his blades to a path through, as lighting danced from his blades and arced to other crystals, the pegasus guard not concerned about defense currently, knowing the others would keep him covered.

Turn:
Gain 4 PiPs
[-2] Lighting Blade, 1d10 damage on next single-target attack. 1d10 = 6
[-1] Bull's Eye. 3d10 Damage. 3d10 = 10+7+1 = 18. Crit activated.
Crit, 2d10 damage. 2d10 = 9+5 = 14 damage. So close to another crit...

Health: 100
PiPs: 5
Status: Ready to destroy as many crystals as I can.

Re: The Final Prize [IC]

Supernova was feeling better physically, thanks to Acoustic's music, but she still had a bad feeling about this fight. The crystal's could fight back, and if they weren't fighting back...

Well, it was probably better to cripple them as much as possible before hand. One of the more powerful spells of the cane would drain the power of the target. Here's hoping it worked on crystals too. Supernova thought absently as she let another blast fly.

turn+status:
I think we all know the skipping a turn before an attack is a very bad thing. So my goal is to weaken them as much as possible before that attack lands. If anyone else wanted to throw more on, go right ahead.

Also, while calc-ing my energy last turn, I forgot to take into account my 2 energy for minors, so I actually have 5 energy to start. That being said I'm gonna spend all of it right now.

[-4] Soul-Devouring Cane - Minor Action (Bladespell)
Target creature suffers Weakness 9. The next Single Attack Power you use deals an additional 9 damage to its target.

Even: Gain 4 energy, then deal 1d12 damage to target creature.

d6:6

d12:11

Someday I'll get a Crit in this game.

Deal 10+11+9 =30 damage to Crystals

Inflict 5+9=14 weakness (which, when combined with the last turn's weakness, comes to Weakness 19)

HP:100 (Wow, back to full health)
Energy:4
Status: Hoping the crystals don't have a way of ignoring or throwing off Weakness

Living Lightning's tail twitches in his half-sleep, and the clouds above rumble ominously. Abruptly, a few of the crystals fall to the ground, dull and inert, and lightning can be seen visibly gathering in the bulbous, stretching mushrooms of cloud. "You wanna offend? Thenuse th'lightning, dummy." He mutters in his sleep, giggling and pointing a claw at Storm Blade. "s'waiting right there for ya."

OOC:
That's been my plan since the battle started, MJ.
Using Conduit to drop Weakness 15 on THE SWARM and give Storm Blade +15 damage.

HP:90
Energy:4
