"...That's a strange story," Nadir said after a moment. "I don't think it's very believable, either. My master would say that if the Weak wanted to survive, then they should become the Strong. Having Strength is what gives you the right to rule, not a ring..."

He paused, then added, "But I like your story more. Even if it is just a story."

"You may be missing the point- it's a fable told to keep spirits up, keep hope alive. But yes, just a story. Even if they existed at some point, they're most likely long since dead, except maybe the wizard if he turned to necromancy. And actually, Strength is not what is required to rule. Strength is required to lead, Desire is required to rule." Horizon stretches a bit where he sits. "But the heroes walked off into the sunset, and that's all the happy ending anyone needs. There is a power in stories like these, ill-placed as it may be."

"Well, eventually they became Gods, so technically, they are still alive. But it's true, it was a very long time ago, and we don't know they exactly details. Even their names are lost now." Eight said, guardedly. She looked around. "Anyone else want to give a story a go?"

"Well do you want to hear one of my stories? We did agree they were decidedly bloody and depressing, and on top of that most people assume I'm making it up or completely insane, and not in the usual murderous psychopath kind of way." Horizon pauses and thinks for a second. "Nah, I probably won't tell any stories. Not now anyway. What about you, pup?" He looks over to the Gnoll.

Nadir hummed. Horizon might not have had any stories he wanted to tell, but the more he spoke, the more he revealed... the same way the girl's story seemed to say something about her.

Try as much as he wanted, though, the golem couldn't quite explain what the words were saying.
And for some reason, the idea that he had nothing to contribute to the stories beyond function...Disturbed him.

I'm gonna move us along.

Horizon stretches again, and stands up. "Well, if we're crashing for the night, now's the time. I'll be lookout for a bit." He walks over to the nearest tree, and peers up it. Then, he shakes his head, and moves to the next, choosing the second one, and begins climbing the lowest branches. "Might be getting too old for this."

Nadir watched, faintly curious, as Horizon clambered up the tree, a strange sense of pressure on him. He wasn't going to sleep anyway- but he wouldn't speak up to say so. Revealing that would be foolish, especially for something as ridiculous as someone else's comfort....

Even so, Nadir thought he recognised the feeling of pressure. It reminded him of something he had heard about, called guilt,

From atop the tree, Horizon sees... well, to the horizon. He can see quite well above the treeline, and a few things below it.

He can also see the sun beginning to set, and night begin to fall.

Horizon settles in on a branch, letting his eyes wander. The pace certainly doesn't look that bad. He half expected everything to go to hell in the night, though, so at least remains partially vigilant. More than once he glances down to the ground- the other one, Nadir, catching his attention, sitting still like that, obviously not sleeping. Rather unnerving. Still, he doesn't let it bother him for too long, and makes sure to keep watch for the real threats.
