[WL/PbP] You are (Not) the Heroes
Welcome to Maretropolis, a sunny city with more criminals and supervillains than the rest of Equestria combined, yet somehow maintains socio-economic stability. This is thanks to the efforts of the Power Ponies, six intrepid mares who maintain the harmony in the city by punching the lights out of villains who threaten the social order.
So, what's the problem?
The problem is, the other heroes in the city are put out of a job because of the absurd competency of the Power Ponies. They're too fast, too strong, too intelligent - too well-oiled a team for any other individuals to ever show them up...
One day, a few individuals receive a letter with a simple message: 'Meet me in Central Park. It's about the Power Ponies.'
Something is changing in Maretropolis City... and that something needs help to happen.
This is an idea/interest thread for my newest random idea: You are (Not) the Heroes. As the intro suggests, players will be playing the ones who are overshadowed by the Max Level Badass Power Ponies at every turn, trying desperately to reach crime scenes before them. They might be sidekicks, or the police/guard, or just freelancing superheroes who aren't quite as famous as the Power Ponies. Whoever they are, they are super done with the Power Ponies, and someone just messaged them about an opportunity. What will follow will be a mix between a mystery and villain-of-the-week style plot progression, where the players try to find out exactly how the Power Ponies are so incredibly overpowered, while trying to take down villains before the Power Ponies get to them.
The game will be using Wanderlust because I haven't run enough Wanderlust and it's pretty fun. Also Wanderlust is great for limiting characters to a single or few 'gimmicks'. It probably won't be a long game, I already have a few potential endings in mind, and with the way play by posts end up I don't want to drag the game out by too much.
Players will probably be starting at Level 4 because destinies are fun and I want to maximize fun. I also have some plans on quantifying stuff like Cost to State and Collateral Damage, which will factor into the overall popularity of the player group.
Hero List:
The Crimson Chef - Senshuken
Dove Colt - Faege
The Wolfpack - Sliverbrony
Rousseau - Nightlight
Madame Mask - Paper Shadow
Trickshot - jaguargamma
UPDATE: People who are interested and are considering creating a character, your characters all gain this optional ability for free:
What do you think? Would you be interested?

You can create a unique superhero costume that is exactly your size. You cannot create a costume that mimics the costume of another hero/villain. Other creatures must make a DC 35 Perception check to recognize you through the disguise.

I am interested, I need more Wanderlust experience under my belt. A quick question though, what kind of tone should we expect this game to be in? Light-hearted? Humourous? Serious?

I'm planning for it to be humorous, but still with elements of adventure and excitement. It's MLP meets saturday morning superheroes, that should say enough. Combat is real but strictly nonlethal for PCs, and you can make it as action-packed as you want it to be as long as it doesn't go into gore or dark territory.

I'm semi-interested, but I don't have any ideas for a character.

Scratch that, I've got a fairly interesting concept after reading through the ability list that I really want to test out. Introducing Dove Colt, the colt who summons doves. If the game becomes official I'll roll up the character.

Re: [WL/PbP] You are (Not) the Heroes
I know I said I would roll something up only if the game was confirmed, but...
Screw it! Behold Dove Colt, Pigeon Extraordinaire!
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1SbazfF-fy3ZbejYLHd6hCYAsyj2uCKwOqlVc-ByUuog/edit#
Dove Colt, as his name implies, is a master of doves. Able to speak to doves, summon doves, conjure flaming doves, create illusions of 20 foot sized dove flocks, and help ponies fly with large crowds of doves, Dove Colt is a versatile hero who is small of stature, but big of feathers.
Combat-wise, Dove Colt is likewise versatile, with ability to heal up to 50 HP per turn and dish out up to 60 damage every other turn using the Nova feature. Even if not the main damage dealer or healer, Dove Colt can give allies standard actions that have +5 energy gain and can summon helpful pigeons that give energy and deal damage. His primary combat flavor is using doves to swarm enemies or fluff up allies, and his 8 cost ulti will coat enemies in pigeon poop. Overall, cute as a button, enthusiastic and inexperienced but nonetheless a force to be reckoned with.

Bruh.
That has to be the best goddamn character I've ever seen.
P.S. I'll let using a flock for signature spectacle slide because that is absolutely hilarious. But for future reference, please ask before bending the rules on other abilities. I'll probably allow it, but I'd like to know first.

I'm still getting used to Pony Tales but if there aren't enough players in the end I'm willing to learn Wanderlust as well - this looks like a fun little idea to toy around with.

Meet The Crimson Chef.
Maybe not as grade as our bird themed Superhero, but I decided to go with a hero that is food themed. He started off as a character designed to support the rest of the team, but my desire for him to also be able to pull his own weight in combat resulted in him becoming quite the scary damage dealer with options to help his allies when need be.

Re: [WL/PbP] You are (Not) the Heroes
So my character The Wolfpack is nearly finished, I only wanted to know if nistend of taking the Superhero costume, I could use Second skin or another similar Ability to allow my character to change his appearence to that of a Timberwolf.
EDIT:
I just looked through dove Colt´s character sheet and now I`m not quite sure what you ment with that statement as all your Burst attacks say "you may target different creatures" which as far as I know means you can also have everything target the same creature as it doesn´t say "you must target different creatures" which means the part of the Nova feature you can use is the extra standard action(s) once per rest.
EDIT:

Re: [WL/PbP] You are (Not) the Heroes
If it involves actual shapeshifting rather than a costume then you'll need to expend the ability points. But if it's just a costume to strike fear into your enemies then the super hero costume will suffice.Sliverbrony wrote:So my character The Wolfpack is nearly finished, I only wanted to know if nistend of taking the Superhero costume, I could use Second skin or another similar Ability to allow my character to change his appearence to that of a Timberwolf.

Re: [WL/PbP] You are (Not) the Heroes
I have an idea you can use. The only idea I could come up with for a B list super hero is an actual former Superhero from (x alternate universe) who was some how magically put in Equestria, transformed into a pony, lost all their powers, and generally spends the game trying t convince everyone else that he is totally a superhero.

Hmm. Miniaturize, Spider Climb, Might bonuses, Stealth Mode. Seems to me that you made Ant-Man the character...

I changed Dove Colt's feature to Conjuror.
Also, yeah, sounds like Ant-Man.

Re: [WL/PbP] You are (Not) the Heroes
Ok here it comes The Wolfpack aka Zellbriq and his companion Inu, a novice in old druidic techniques of the Zebras, now living in Maretropolis, studying at University at day and hunting down criminals as a peck of wolves at night, or atleast until teh Power Ponies "invaded" his Territory. Now he looks for Allies to help reclaim his hunting grounds.
In Combat he can summon Timberwolf spirits , support other allies, or change his form slightly, to better hurt an enemy himself.

I don't have the Animal Speak stuff that would make this complete (I favored a more purely Stealth oriented build) but beyond that yeah, I see where you're coming from...

Also, can we have an update on the situation for players interested/writing up characters, just so I can have a rough idea when to pay attention again?

Re: [WL/PbP] You are (Not) the Heroes
Let me explain my silence. I had a character idea, and I made sheet and then checked everyone elses again, just to be on the safe side. It was at this point I became aware of the Crimson Chef's existence, and shortly after I learn that we basically had the same skill spread with very minor variation. So I decided to scrap my character (I don't like it when two characters have to compete with their best skills). I struggle enough as it is to make a Wanderlust character without having to start over. I think I have an idea now, but I suggest making a deadline and if I haven't got a sheet in by the deadline start the game without me...
