Pony Poetry!

Hey all!
I'm a poet, if you didn't know it! I love to rhyme all the time! Although not all poetry is quite so... flow-etry?
All right, I give up. Any other poets out there? Prose gets all the popularity, but poetry deserves its day. So let's share some of the fun stuff we've written. Maybe we can come up with some new poetry, and then it'll be even more fun!
To start off easy, I want to share the haiku I wrote the other day. I was challenged to write a Twilight romance in haiku form, but they didn't tell me which pony to ship her with. So... I did everypony. Here they are, all 6 of them.

A star, a diamond.
Two sparks join in an endless
embrace. Raritwi.

Gentle winds of love.
Through the wings of birds and books
comes true love. TwiShy.

Rainbow in the East
that cuts through darkness, shining
brightly. Twilight Dash.

Two friends, understood
not through words or facts, but through
true love. Pinkie Twi.

Two becoming one.
The honest worker joined the
bookish mare. TwiJack.

The sun shall guide her.
A wish, a beacon, a lost
dream. Twilestia.

CHALLENGE! Let's get some creative juices flowing! Every post has to end with a challenge, which someone has to follow. So, here's a challenge for anypony out there. Think you can do the same with a different pony? How about... Rarity? Write a collection of haiku about Rarity like mine. I ended each one with the name of the ship, but you don't have to if it won't fit properly. Just remember: 5-7-5.

Just a "collection about Rarity"? How many? Can the ships include, say, Twilight again, or is that null and void because you've already done it? Heck with it, have seven Rarity haikus in an approximate order of least-to-most crack-shippy.

His love for her shines
As bright as amethyst gems
Or scales. RariSpike.

Canterlot is full
Of "class", but they outshine the
Rest. RariFancy.

A heart as cold as
Stone, warmed and melted by her
Beauty. RariTom.

Why pick one stallion
When you've got charismatic
Twins? RariFlimFlam.

Every ounce of gold
Is nothing compared to his
'Stache. RariMagnet.

"So rare," she said of
The griffon. She prizes such
Worth. RariGilda.

Maybe he has a
Thing for white ponies. Dunno,
LOL. RariDiscord.

Some say wincest is
Best, but I have some standards.
RariBelle? Ew, pass.

Next challenge: an amusing limerick about Best Pony, whomever you believe that is.

Sweetie Belle is charming for all to see
And in my eyes, clearly, she's best pony
But some will dispute
And others refute
Shattering our forum's precious harmony

I wasn't going to be too picky. Yeah, it's not quite right, but we're just here to have fun!

A sort of modified diamante. Instead of 1-2-3-4-5-4-3-2-1, I used the triangle numbers, 1-3-6-10-15-10-6-3-1.

Challenge: Now you must acquire a taste for, freeform poetry! [insert freeform poetry here, posing stoically] Write a free verse poem about one of the CMC. Make it sound like it belongs in a beatnik club. Bongo music is a must.

...Dear lord, that was awful. Well, I'm passing the torch now. Write a Shakspearean sonnet about a background pony.

Is he naught but a clockwork sort of colt
With orderliness only on his mind?
Though his expressions paint him as a dolt
Could it be he's truly terrible and kind?

Is he a resident of distant stars,
Psychologist, or psychic pony pal?
Will he, when Equestria takes its pause,
Rush forth to save the day and win the gal?

Time Turner, Doctor Whooves, Sepia Tock,
What is this elusive stallion's true name?
And what thinks he, when looking at a clock?
"Such clockwork!" or, "It's me who is to blame"?

But one thing you may count on: in the end,
This pony here can be called "A True Friend".

For your next challenge: write a four-to-eight-stanza poem describing how Celestia felt directly after banishing her sister. Have fun!

Luna, my sister, why did you go?
Your hate so clear on your guise.
You froze me to my very core,
And yet the sun must rise

The world is safe for now at last,
Heavily, this currency buys,
One thousand years of solitude,
And yet the sun must rise

I bear no ill will, the fault my own,
To you, my hope, it flies:
To tell you that the night is fine,
And yet the sun must rise.

The world is the darkest before dawn
I wish I could have been more wise.
Agony burns at my failure today,
And yet the sun must rise.

Twilight bridges the sun and moon
And with friendship, hatred dies
But so long away I must toil alone

Yes millenia hence we shall gain our prize,
Should you heed what I advise.
Please never forget our familial ties...

K is for Kingdoms that he's overturned.
R is for Ravaging all that he's earned.
A is for Art, there is none in his ways,
S is for Slaughter, the joy in his days.

And, because that one is sort of a kiddy acrostic, here's a better one:
Under the light of the shimmering stars,

Something is coming. Listen and weep.
A monster is waking from caverns so deep.

Many have looked for that creature of stars.
In vain did they search, but now, one is near.
Not coming in kindness, not lovingly here,
Only panic it brings us, blind terror and fear.
Remember my child, 'neath the shimmering stars,
the creature, unstoppable, born from the stars.

(Has anyone else ever had a poem... fall apart before? I swear, the original goal for this one was supposed to be ABBA, but it kind of turned into ABBB ACCC AA, where every A line ends in "stars." I have no idea why I did that.)
CHALLENGE: Remember everyone, the challenges are just to keep us from not having any ideas. Feel free to write any poem you'd like! In fact, if you want to do an earlier challenge, go ahead!
Oh, I forgot. Actual challenge. How about a poem about the adventures of the Mane 6? And since my last rhyme scheme fell apart, now you can't use any of the normal rhyme schemes, like AABB, ABAB, or ABBA. Be creative! ABCBA. ABABB. ABCACBBACBCACABCBA. The possibilities are endless!

I've learned these lessons so many a time,
Mastered the arts divine and arcane
But in contest, I'd rank myself silver.
I stress too much, is that such a crime?

The dark midnight moon
Though discordant, we still chime,
Everything changes

My friends all support me, isn't it sublime?
My happiness I do not feign:
No longer am I merely a lost chilver.
(You thought I'd miss out on that rhyme?)


(For those wondering the rhyme scheme: ABRA-CAD-ABRA! Yeah, it's basically free-form at that point, but eh, for fun.)

No challenge. A poem that came to mind while working on something for Classical Disuption with a player.

A fallen angel of whom I kissed,
Regret for pushing and love betwixt
I've fallen faster than the rain,
And don't believe he feels the same.

The angel speaks of all his sin,
But listening, I see within.
The warm and kind soul that hides inside.
Protecting and guiding the group who I spied.

The angel and I yell within these walls.
My water eroding his stone heart in all
It's harder than most, the heart a diamond
But I'll keep at it, until the last end
- Diving Wave.

I hate poetry. But I did write a song for a game that didn't get used, and without a tune its essentially a poem, right?

So they say life in this town just ain’t quite fair
Social injustice enough to make one despair- to put the town in disrepair
Can you see the way this place seems
Rundown shantys, and rundown dreams
How can you so badly treat other creatures like these
So unicorns please, can’t you see,
Time to rid this town of this social disease

The Mud Dogs aren’t the only ones you know
From Cows to Sheep to Buffalo- Even Pegasi are treated low.
When all the way across Equestria,
From the poorest dog to Princess Celestia
They all enjoy the same basic liberties and rights
They can work where they want and see the sights
They are all equal under Celestia’s Royal light.

This isn’t a matter of property or status
You Unicorns can throw every bit you have, every insult at us.
But it won’t matter because we know what’s right.
And the mud dogs know it and are willing to fight.
They really aren’t asking for all that much
Just to be treated nice and such
But if that’s too much of you to ask,
Then perhaps some other should take up the task
No matter how much you stop and stall
There will be equality for all
Be it now or tomorrow or next week
We will get what it is we seek
So why bother putting it off any longer?
This will only make your town, your economy stronger
Come on everypony, open your eyes
Greendale’s due for a new sunrise
Bring this town into present day
Show that you’re ready and willing to say
Every creature in town is A-OK

So they say life in this town just ain’t quite fair
Just look at all those Dogs out there- Can you say you really don’t care?
You know it’s time to change some things
For everything with paws, claws and wings
Equality in Greendale would be such a sight

Wait... are you kidding? I would have sworn that said Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash! What am I going to do with this song then?

CHALLENGE! I don't know, pick one of the earlier ones. I need a minute to sulk.

I seem to like writing poems from the point of view of a water pony about a crush ^u^'

The Ice:
I don't know why you did it,
I was simply your foe.
But as the ice had covered me,
I saw your face you know.

You were injured, that much was clear
Your mane and hat askew.
But instead of healing you or allies,
You healed me didn't you?

I'm sorry that I left so fast,
I was just so afraid.
The ice inside my heart, I felt
Would shatter if I stayed.

A hero like that Citrus one,
except just a normal boy.
I wish to see you, if you don't mind.
Please don't think this is a ploy.

I want to see my hero stallion,
The one with the straw hat.
I hid my heart from my sisters
for you to take it back.

We both are blessed by Sir Cryo,
Alicorn of Ice.
And maybe, since you're on a boat,
A little talk is nice?
