Wanderlust: Equestrian Nights

"Sure." The twins say in unison, and continue to eat.

"I'm going to meditate, personally." Bubbling Spring says, nearly finishing his lemon sorbet. "Which means I need someplace quiet and peaceful." He looks around The streamer-festooned Party, and sighs. "Does anyone have any suggestions other than the palace library? I'm really sick of that decor. And the scent of books." He asks, grimacing.

Lavender swallowed her bite of muffin carefully. "Can I train too?" She asked softly.

Water answers Bubbling, "Hey, from what we've seen from this place since we got here, its all Discord and Cultist attacks. Maybe out towards the edges of town? I'm sure there's a park or a farm or something out there that's open and quiet..." She shrugs. Meanwhile, Soft speaks to Lavender. "Oh, um... well, If Bubbling here is to be believed, it seems like you're plenty strong, if it was you that really saved us from the fire. You're probably better than I am at magic, even. It might be better if..." She trails off and nudges Water. "Oh, hey sure, you can come along and train with us. It's just that what we're gonna be doing is going to be really tough and really dangerous, so don't come if you think you're gonna want to stop halfway through." "Yes, that, and also dangerous, like she said, and we don't want you getting hurt. If you really want to, sure, but it might be better if you give Bubbling some... quiet, peaceful company." Both twins smile big, semi-convincing grins.

Lavender chewed her lip. "But some of my magic is really loud. I don't want to disturb him. And I can take care of myself."

"Wellll..." They twins look at each other, and then Water leans in and whispers into Soft's ear. Soft thinks, nods, and whispers something back. The whispering goes back and forth for a moment before they both glance at Wandering, and then look at Lavender again. "Sure, you can come, just as long as Wandering is ok with it." "We don't want you getting hurt or in trouble."

Wandering Eye nods. "Fine by me."

Water shoots Soft a sidelong glance and then beams at Lavender. "I guess you're in then, kid. So, where are we headed?"

An exuberant party pony bounces in to interrupt. "Ooh! I know! Applejack has a big field out in back-forty! Twilight usually uses it to practice her mega-spells, but I'm sure she - oops, wait, I wasn't supposed to..." Pinkie's face darkens briefly as she pauses, before snapping back to her usual cheer. "Nevermind! I'll show you were it is, I'm sure Applejack won't mind!"

"Uhhh..." Soft goes quiet, shying away from the pink pony. "Well, I guess that'll do." Water offers helpfully, and then stands up, laying some bits on the table. She looks at her sister a minute, and then grabs her, dragging her to her hooves. "Let's gooo." Soft merely grumbles a reply.

Wandering Eye drops a few bits on the table as well, and begins to head out. "The training ground for a princess? This should be interesting..."

"You bet! This way!" With that, Pinkie leads you out the door...

Bubbling Spring heads outside, quietly missing the hubbub of having the pink party pony close by, and starts walking towards the edge of town.

The twins wave goodbye to Bubbling, and turn their attention to Wandering, Lavender, and the Pink Pony. "So, is there something really special about this place we're not supposed to know about?" "Water!" "What?" "...Actually, yeah, fair question."

"Nope! It's just a big empty field."

Some time later, Pinkie Pie leaves you at the edge of the training ground. As promised, it's a big empty field... Except that there's no grass, or trees, or rocks. It's a just a huge dirt lot, with scorch marks and craters all over the place. There is a creek running down the middle... But, it would appear to be dry right now. It is also surrounding by a thick treeline against unwanted observers, but is otherwise featureless.

"Well..." "It's empty alright." The twins look around at the empty lot. "I guess this'll do, huh. What do you say, squirt?" Water looks back at Lavender, who at some point during the walk was picked up and given a ride on her back. "Gonna show my sister what REAL magic looks like?"

Wandering Eye looks around. "No collateral... I can see why this would be a good spot. You can go first, I need a few moments of reflection to prepare." Wandering Eye took a position near the edge of the clearing and closed his eyes, mentally seeking out his connection to the Beyond...

Lavender had been fairly quiet through the ride, but once they arrived and Glowing Soft suggested she show them her magic, she perked up a bit. She hopped off of the pony and headed to the center of the field. She was a bit nervous about how they would react, after the thing with the bunnies, but nothing else she did was that weird...

"Drumroll Please!" A drumroll sprung up obediently. She spun around for about 10 seconds, then pulled out a bunny from her cape. She gestured dramatically and placed it on the ground. A crash accompanied the action, and mystical sounding music replaced the drums. "But, wait! There's more."

She continued to spin around, and pull bunnies out of her cape, until she was completely surrounded by bunnies, doing bunny things. When there were 10 bunnies in front of her, she gestured dramatically. Look at all these bunnies. So cute. But can you find the real bunny, with all the illusions in the way?" Teddy prodded her once "Without Touching!" She added

Soft watches Wandering go off to meditate, before her attention is taken by the show in front of them. When all of the rabbits are formed, Soft "Ooooh"s quietly, eyes alight at the cute bunnies. Meanwhile, Water immediately begins to scrutinize them all, trying to keep track of the first one created. She flaps into the air a little, as if her higher vantage point would assist. At the same time, Soft tries a trick of her own, trying to use her basic magical sense to try and "feel out" the illusions.

Water Drop has quick eyes, but Lavender and her bunnies are faster: she loses track almost immediately.

All of the bunnies show up the same under Glowing Soft's scan.

Wandering Eye opens his eyes to see the display, smiling slightly. "Most interesting."

"I don't get it." Water says, slightly frustrated. "How are we supposed to tell which one's which, they all look the same." "They're sort of the same magically too... I think that's the point though, you gotta look at each individual one. They aren't meant to be discovered." Soft smiles at Lavender, and Water begin to catch on. "Ohh, right. Well cool the, can you do that with anything else? Like those birds?" "Or yourself? That could be really useful." "Or other ponies in general?" Water says, casually flying up a little bit closer. She seems slightly distracted as she mumbles to herself, her front hooves moving in little circles. "Ok, now how did I..."

Wandering Eye's eyes seem unfocused, as if he's not quite paying attention to the events unfolding. Then he focuses on the bunnies, and then turns to Lavender, smiling slightly. "Are any of the bunnies real?"

Lavender broke into a grin,tilted her head, and rubbed the back of her neck. Suddenly, she pulled the bunny out. "This one is." She offered it to Wandering Eye.

There's a splash of water, like a bucket being emptied, from Water. "Oh come on, I was just about to use MY new trick to figure it out." She complains flapping down to look at the real bunny. "I figured out how to make water appear again, I was gonna dump it on the rabbits and see which one gets soaked." "Ohh, that's a good idea. I was just gonna start looking at them until I found the different one." Soft blushes. "I guess my magic isn't as good as I was hoping, either..."
