Well there was this one time, not long ago, that I commented in a thread where the topic creator used past times where he should have used pastimes. jocolor

All depends on where you live, actually. Where I live it's, "Who really cares" #teasing

Oh THAT'S what he meant. I thought he was asking about our pasts.

I can write but have no motivation to. I have mediocre drawing skills. Collaboration with others jumps my productivity in those areas by 200%.
I play Xbox- Forza, Madden, Halo, Call of Duty (god I hate that game, but damned if I'm not pretty good at it), Battlefield, Elder Scrolls, etc, etc.
Also, Air Force, and military things in general. Every once in a while I play Yugioh with friends.

AAAAAnd Football. I like watching it, LOVE playing it, even though I never get to. Other sports to a lesser extent.

Hmmm, I watch a few TV shows (mostly sci-fi or fantasy stuff, though also like me some crime/law shows, no love for sitcoms aside from Better Off Ted which was possibly the funniest thing to be displayed in cathode ray tube format ever). Quite a bit of anime. Movies on occasion (less than I'd like, more than never). Watch a few youtube series' as well (though not very much).

Read some web-comics, books (almost entirely sci-fi and fantasy), and a very small amount of comics.

I play a few browser games and less console games than I'd like (and way less computer video games than I'd like since I have a very low powered laptop right now). I don't really play anything competitively and tend to prefer single player games.

I used to play Magic waaaaaaaay back in the day and every once in a while pick it up for a short bit again. I play other board and card games when a friend or someone has them (though most of my irl friends have moved away so, not so much these days).

I've designed a few tabletop RPGs in my time, though most have never reached a state even closed to "finished". The most fully designed one was a Star Wars one (before 4th ed D&D came out) I did with my best friend because we wanted to play a Star Wars game but didn't like any of the Star Wars systems that existed and another of our friends jokingly challenged us to make a better one and he'd run it for us. So of course we did over the course of the summer and he ended up running us a trilogy of campaigns with it over the next two years. (And then 4th ed D&D came out and we kinda facepalmed as they'd done a few of the things we'd tried to do a lot better than we had. We did more or less design things in a Heroic, Paragon, and Epic tier manner amusingly enough. Though our Epic tier was more reminiscent of 3.5 ed D&D's insanity, with one class even potentially having several dozen NPC cohorts and thousands of NPC followers via an advanced for of leadership at the last few levels. This was also one of my first serious attempts at making a modular race system and it came out pretty decently, if it was a bit bare bones since we only really created what we needed to. )

Many different fantasy games, tabletop, cards, boardgames, and of course tons of video games. I've also watched a bunch of anime probably close to 500 different titles.

As for more productive pastimes. I write, though recently it's mostly pony. But I do have a thing for free-form poetry. I eventually aim to become a successful published fantasy writer by the time I'm 40... well I'll see how that turns out.

And to on a more physical side, I walk a lot, (nothing quite like a nice 10 mile walk through a the park) I also run when it's warmer out and run the half-marathon every year. I did run the full-marathon once, 7.5 years ago, and since then I've decided to stick to the half.

I've always thought of myself as a fairly physically active nerd. Smile

Post  Jason Shadow Sun Nov 04, 2012 2:28 pm

The ways I spend my free time can pretty easily be divided into two categories: input (absorbing content created by others) and output (creating my own content).

As far as input goes, I read books/fanfic/webcomics; play video games (well, mostly computer games); watch television shows (usually shows that have already ended and have been released on DVD); and pretty much just muck about on the internet. When it comes to output, I write (albeit usually pony stuff these days, but I'm working on worldbuilding for my own fantasy universe) or draw.

Also, recently I've been participating in theater for my high school's drama department; in their production of Get Smart, I'll be playing Mr. Big (Only two more rehearsals until the next show!). Naturally, rehearsals have been draining away most of my free time, but once that's over, there'll be more time for my other hobbies.

Additionally, I've inadvertently begun to cultivate a social life, too. It's fascinating seeing the theoretical principles of "friendship" I've heard so much about actually be demonstrated in the field... Very Happy

I enjoy reading so much. I've recently gotten into the Codex Alera and Dresden Files series (both of which you should read like right now), and I'm finally continuing the Percy Jackson and Kane Chronicles series after having put them down for a while. (I read non-fiction too, just not at the immediate moment.) I do enjoy writing as well, but to be honest it's been a very long time since I've written anything, but I plan on changing that very soon...

It's gonna be biblical in scope, just you wait. Unfortunately it will probably not be biblical in readership

Uh, I also enjoy cartoons. That, though, like my writing, I've slacked off a bit in that as of late. I keep hearing great things about Gravity Falls and Adventure Time, not to mention I'm behind on Young Justice, and so I keep meaning to turn on the TV to check them out but nope. I've been a Nintendo fanboy since I was 6, though recently I've started earning enough money to buy things besides Nintendo products. I enjoy anime; my favorite anime is *shrugs head towards avatar*. I also enjoy a few webcomics, including Penny Arcade and Cyanide & Happiness, though my favorite is *shrugs head at avatar*. I enjoy That Guy With The Glasses.com, or at least a good majority of it. My favorite series is Atop the Fourth Wall.

I only go outside occasionally, but when I do I like to swing on swingsets, roll down hills, and lie down with my girlfriend and watch the stars. I am currently in the process of finding a new girlfriend to do this stuff with.

I enjoy pizza, especially with lots of meat and Parmesan. I have fancier and less fancy tastes as well, but pizza, at least at college, is the most frequent offender to my palate. And there's a bunch of other stuff too, but this post is too long as is.

Oh, yeah, I love swings and lying down with Proc's girlfriend and watching the stars. Also food. My favorite is burgers, I could eat them until the cows come home (so I can eat more). I enjoy most food though there are some things I dislike like artichokes, avocado, and brussel sprouts. Also, I enjoy me some fruity girl drinks, particularly those with rum. (Though I'm not a heavy drinker by any stretch.)

So you don't have anyone to lie down and watch the stars with either, huh?

Not currently, though I haven't really been looking. I was in a relationship for over ten years and that ended a couple years ago and I don't have too much of a social life currently. *shrug*
