Re: Logan's Item Idea Shop.
Hah, I like it. So you use gold instead of bits? (I jest). I look forward to more of these, I just wonder what the 'official' market prices aim to set items like these at. Though that should be easy enough to adjust when it rolls around.
Just a question. Is Death going to be a scythe? Cause that's the only fitting weapon I can see, well maybe an executioner's axe.

Re: Logan's Item Idea Shop.
Personally I'm going to think of them all as being magical cards that turn into cool stuff while in combat or something.
Re: Logan's Item Idea Shop.
Gold bits, I went by what Dan gave me. And yes, these are OFFICICIAL prices and abilities so far
Death is actually "Change", not "demise" so a morphing weapon seems better to me. Maybe raise the die one size, maximum of 12 so 1d4 becomes 1d6, 1d6 to 1d8, 1d8 to 1d10 and 1d10 to 1d12
... Or what Xel said.

Re: Logan's Item Idea Shop.
Yeah, I like what Xel said, great flavour to that. And a morphing weapon is pretty sweet. I have a great craving to whip out my Persona game now...
Re: Logan's Item Idea Shop.
Also I suggest that the Hanged Man be a non-combat item that lets a pony fly as just a head by itself and stuff for a limited amought of time once per day. And if anyone got where I got this idea from give yourself a cookie.
Re: Logan's Item Idea Shop.
I'm keeping these mostly as Combat Items, since that's what the Item System revolves around and is low on right now.
Status: Added items: Death and Strength.
Edit: Added (Save Ends) to Wheel of Fortune.

Naa,,, From where I see it, the Item System is the only place that can effect both combat and non-combat.

Good point, but if you can think of some way to make a floating head combat applicable for a trinket, I'll add it up top.

Never played. The only thing I know is firing ginormous tears from one ginormous eye :/
But...
Combat talent: THE HEADLESS HORSE!/ THE HORSELESS HEAD! 2/battle Immediate Interrupt
Trigger: Enemy attacks you
Effect that attack is nullified.

Re: Logan's Item Idea Shop.
Wow, that's a way better item than what I was thinking... Mmmm... Maybe for a non-combat item make The World give you an extreamly detailed map of just where you are?
Re: Logan's Item Idea Shop.
Wait, That fits the LITERAL meaning, but not the Self-Sacrifice meaning...
"At the cost of all pips, Nullify any damage to an ally. If you are at 0 pips, this talent does nothing."
That seems a bit better.
And the World's meaning is Completion, or Travel, so that fits an Out of Combat talent. In combat though...
If playing with a board, -2 pips to move to one unoccupied square on the board. If not, then -2 pips to travel up or down in the initiative order.
Edit: Added the Hanged Man and World items to the list above. Tentative.

Re: Logan's Item Idea Shop.
Maybe more have the World's combat move be able to either help you move up a turn or have an enemy move down a turn in battle order.
Re: Logan's Item Idea Shop.
Actually, that might work better.
Gain the following combat talent:
[-2] Worldly Travel
Move one creature in the battle anywhere in the initiative order.

That'd be too OP. I suggest this:LoganAura wrote:Actually, that might work better.

Re: Logan's Item Idea Shop.
All right everyone. Before you make any more comments, please take a quick Tarot Symbology 101 class (EDIT: except for Logan; you're probably good). Death is not killing. Strength is not physical force. The Hanged Man is not macabre. I happen to really enjoy all the deep richness that is the symbology of the Arcana Majora, so please, please stop messing them up!
(For the record, Death is about change, just like how Death is the passage from life to the afterlife. Strength is primarily about inner strength or fortitude, although physical strength is a smaller facet of it. And the Hanged Man represents the bridge between the physical world and the spiritual/metaphysical.)
EDIT: Okay, those aren't the ones you're messing up. Still, those are some of the more common mistakes people make. However, I find your description of the Hanged Man odd, since the Hanged Man is usually depicted as being hanged upside-down by his ankles. Death is... kind of unusual too. Congrats that you did know it was about change, but I think it's supposed to be more... permament than that. And it feels like the World deserves more for its symbolism than just a map. However, that calls to mind the key question: are you going for symbolism, or are you taking it from the actual card? Your Death is based off of the symbolism of the card, but your Hierophant is based off of the actual Hierophant.
Or maybe I'm just overthinking all this. (Wouldn't be the first time.)

Re: Logan's Item Idea Shop.
I'm kinda splitting them between the actual and the symbolism since some of them are harder to make literal meanings for and some of them are hard to make symbolic ones.
For example, The world means both Travel and achieving success. If I did the last one, essentially what it'd do is give an "It's Over" like skill and I really doubt anyone is actually going to do *Gather energy, Draw blood draw blood, Gather Energy, Draw Blood Draw Blood, It's Over* just because their trinket allows it, and Travel is something much easier to think up abilities for.
The hanged man, according to my book, also represents Self-Sacrifice and giving up physical things for a spiritual connection. That's why it was so hard for me to think of anything for it other than "Give up all your pips for X effect". I'm changing the noose necklace to a cord bracelet too because of that reason you noted. *Doh*
And the Hierophant has no real way to make the meaning into an armor so I went with the fact that 1.) Hierophant is a religious figure, 2.) Regen needed to be used, and 3.) It made sense for something regarding religious nature to heal the wearer.
Also, thought up something for Magician. Magical Book (yes it's a weapon.) That essentially gives you the Dangerous and Talented traits. 4000 gold. Reason? the magician means that you have all the skills needed for your task to come to fruition. Or something similar, but my book says it in two pages and I don't want to type it all out.
Alicorn, If you can think up any items that fit the non-literal meaning it'd really help. Like I said this is an IDEA shop, not all of the items are mine alone.

Re: Logan's Item Idea Shop.
The Magician is also called The Juggler in some sets. It represents skill and dedicated training, the mastery of an art. It does not represent the wisdom of how to use it though, only that one is skilled. Wisdom comes later in the cycle.
Also, the Heirophant represents moral authority, not necessarily religious in nature. Regen really doesn't fit with that. Immunity to Dominate however would represent this trait well, as in taking on the role of the Heirophant you proceed to speak for a higher authority, and thus are unswayed by those who seek to corrupt you in that role.

Re: Logan's Item Idea Shop.
I was mostly going by my own book and deck.
And a Hierophant, themselves, is more of a religious figure. I'm splitting between the literal meaning of the cards and the figurative spiritual one since some are VERY hard to do one way and others ae hard to make out the other.

Re: Logan's Item Idea Shop.
How's this? After looking up the meaning for the Sun, it didn't make a lot of sense as a weapon (at least one that didn't utterly destroy all opposition).
The Sun - Trinket
Cost: ???
Out of Combat:
1/Day, treat a natural 1 as a critical success.
1/Session, complete a task that can be performed by yourself instantly.
In Combat: 1/Battle, Remove a single negative effect from yourself.

Well, the sun is optomism and hope and joy and other positive things like that. I kinda get the feeling it'd be something like the Healer's staff-- a healing item.

Okay we are working with very different tarot sets then. I'm working with the cycle of enlightenment interpretation of the tarot, when by journeying through the tarot one goes through the stages of enlightenment.
