I should warn you not to overdo it on puns, because before you know it, you'll have nothing but puns and that gets old fast.
Not to mention painful to sit through.

Other than that, the occasional pun can do when appropriate.

In all honesty, I probably won't be doing much if any punning in-game. I can think of 'em when I've got time, but not usually in the heat of the moment.

I'm going to say yes, as long as you don't force it, the player wants it, and you don't make it awkward for everyone else. Hell, one of my character's central points in his backstory was that he was in love, and wished to quit his life of crime (after one last big job, of course) to spend his days with his love. I doubt I'll have control of the loved one, so I assume if she ever appeared, she would be an NPC. As long as you are careful, I think it'll be fine...

But making things awkward is what I do best....

Exactly! Though I still believe an ellipse should have four just on principle of cool.

Also thinking about making a thread for the actual campaign today, mainly cause I'm that bored. Even though it would actually be able to be started till like April 13-14

Only if you think you can pull it off.

And yeah, if not handled properly, it's going to be rather awkward in execution.

It worked phenomenally in the original AOH game - I think... Every one of my players got into some sort of romantic relationship by the end of the session. Their relationships were great, great story material. Kindulas' relationship with the lovable Fluttershy-esque red dragon Scarlet in my home campaign also became an incredible character arc - the most dramatic moments of it still his favorite moments in any D&D game thus far.

But it's also very, very hard to pull off well. Chris Perkins, a masterful DM, actually wrote a column recently saying it's so hard to make work that it's probably best not to even try.

So, I'd take that to mean it's extremely hard to do well - but if you do pull it off with the right players... The rewards can be fantastic.
