Luna's Command: The Continuing Wibbly-Wobbly Saga (Topic Two, to be Absolutely Clear)

Brilliant looks around the room for a moment for any sign of the timberwolves or that mysterious stranger. "Well, it looks like nopony will be interrupting us this time. Guard, tactical positions!"

"Oh thank Celestia, I was hoping to actually fight in this bucking cave. Now which one will I make bleed first?"

Scorch also gets ready for a good old-fashioned brawl...

"All righty then so let's try this again shall we? Gonna make you bleed so good."

As the Pegasus pulls the trigger on her weapon, she is struck in the throat with Iggy's chakram - a glancing blow, but still enough to make her bleed, and decidedly enough to alter her aim. The blast splashes off of the stone near Wandering Eye, not hitting him at all but lighting the area around him and giving her fellow guards something to aim for.

"Bluh," she says, as she regains the wind that was knocked from her. The unicorn next to her makes a shuffling motion in order to get more fully out of her way as she steps back. Then his horn glows with a violet light, and he is surrounded by a force field. The blasters outside the field, held aloft by his ponykinesis, begin firing upon Grizzle and Costume Change.

Grizzle grits his teeth around his sword, which sparks with wild electricity as he charges forward, dodging around the unicorn's laser fire and leaping up to stab at the minotaur's chest. The minotaur steps back nimbly, but the sword nicks him, and he roars a moo of defiance.

Spoiler:

"Hmm... nice." Costume lifts up the top of his hat to show his forehead, where a horn quickly appears in a burst of green flame. "But I can do magic, too."

As quickly as it appeared, Costume's horn glows the same lime green, shooting lightning at the minotaur and one of the pegasi.

Pre-Combat Things:

Actual Combat:

Luthier practically spilled all of his instruments out of his pack (some of them merely shards of wood or bent metal at this point) and threw them up into the air.  As he suspended their telekinetically, he produced a series of seemingly uncoordinated sounds- like an orchestra tuning.  But eventually the chaos began to stabilize as the instruments settled on droning specific notes.  First Luthier's horn started vibrating, beginning to give him a headache.  Then the discordant triad fell into place- and Luthier could tell that the tones were resonating with the two enemy unicorns who had not been fortunate enough to put up their shields yet.

The minotaur barely stumbles back from the blast that his hit its stomach, while the pegasus just sort of slumps over to the ground, barely raising its weapon still. Two unicorns, feeling they're in over their heads, attempt to cover them - or that might just be the music thing.

About three hooves to the left of the chaos, one of the earth pony guards raises its blaster, aiming for the section of space previously lit by purple magic and firing a single controlled shot.

The Minotaur regains its balance, taking a few deep breaths. "Tough little ponies, aren't you?" One gets the feeling it's grinning behind the mask. "But not tough enough to ride the lightning!" He raises his left axe. "Or tame the thunder!" Now the right. "Welcome, ponies! To a slam session you'll never forget!"

With this strange and possibly threatening promise, the Minotaur slams both axes into the ground, creating a shockwave that shakes the entire room. By coincidence, probably, small rocks dislodge themselves over Iggy and Cobbled Stone.

Two pegasi take to the air and circle around each other once before swooping downwards, scattering magic bullets over the majority of the party. Seeing this, Plug dodges nimbly around the bullet, leaps nimbly into the air, and tosses underjawed a dagger into one of a pegasus's wings. "Yeah, keep talking," Plug says, "But we aint' exactly amateurs here!"

Time to focus, Brilli. You can't let that unicorn get away. She casts a critical eye around the battlefield; first things first. Wandering Eye looks like he's hurting something fierce. Her horn glowing magenta, the stone floor damaged by the guard's errant blast quickly assembles itself into a barrier. She summons an actual shield around her fellow Guardspony and blasts the minotaur with some leftover energy. Most of it goes into a spell designed to accelerate her actions, however.

The monster looks down as the beam of magic basically splashes against his chest. "You're gonna have to do a lot better than that if you want to tame this beast!" the half-cow cries, charging forward, aiming for the biggest other creature here - Scorch, in this instance.

One of the unicorns suffering from the pain of the music around him manages to get up their own force field, a bright green color, and fires in the direction of Coobled Stone. The tired foal wakes up a little - a sudden burst of adrenaline - and dodges the strike, reaching into his bad and pulling out some strange device. One blast later and an encouraging word to Iggy, and the unicorn who hadn't put up their force field yet is down and out.'

Plug, having pulled off an impressive move, is now occupied trying to bat away a concentrated pack of magical beams with his sword. It mostly isn't working out for him.

Spoiler:

Scorch grunts as the Minotaur rushes down at him, but breaks free from an immediate engagement. "Yeah, give me a moment buttercup," replies the dragon, "I'll be with you soon enough." Scorch heads over to Wandering Eye and keeps the pony on his hooves despite the blows against the unicorn...

Wandering Eye began his routine once more, building up power and placing a mild hex on the minotaur.

One of the pegasi falls from the sky,, mumbling something about feeling woozy as it went. The unicorn nearest it looks to roll its eyes (judging, oddly enough, by the fall of its shoulders) before reraising its blasters and going to town on Grizzle.

Grizzle, in response, wraps his wings protectively around himself and tanking the blast. "Not today, you scum!" he cried, lifting into the air and speeding forward, lightning trailing the path of his sword. With a mighty rush of air, the sword collided with the field, sneding sparks flying - literally - as the magical barrier began to crack.

The minotaur shrugs off the chakram that scrapes alongisde its head, tearing open its mask, and lets out a forceful "MOO!" that echoes off the sides of the cave, and maybe even its bottoms. One of the Earth Ponies opens fire with their own weapon, and surprisngly another one joins, focusing on a singular target - Grizzle reels back from the barely-there field, looking winded.

Costume whistles to get the minotaur's attention. "Hey, you overgrown cattle! Look o'er here! What's wrong, you can't hit the li'l ponies with your big slab of meat you call a poor excuse of a brain? Betcha can't hit me!"

Combat Stuff:

"And I bet I can," a Pegasus nearby says, bringing its weapon to bear.

Luthier's own music- not that he really considered the noise he was making right now music- was giving him a headache.  

"Hope that thing's not soundproof...!"  He shouted at the unicorn who had managed to put their shield up- glad to see that the other unicorn he had targeted had already collapsed.  He turned his attention to the minotaur and one of the pegasi, sending some instruments flying their way- and not ones in great shape either.  Right now he was actually trying to make them sound like they should- if he lost his concentration the painful noise could only get worse- or be accompanied by the physical pain of falling wood or metal.

Hmm... we need to neutralize the minotaur. Brilliant takes a moment to focus and strategize.

At the same time, the Minotaur rears back once more, spreading its axe-filled arms wide and mooing to the heavens. "You little hexes cannot hurt me, THE THUNDERER!" the best less burden practically crows.

That being said, he seems more than a little out of breath after saying so...

Plug, looking up at the minotaur triumphant, looks around the cave quickly before dashing to one side of it, taking a deep breath, and appearingto fade away. "He's disappearing into the shadows!" a pegasus, a bit slow on the uptake, calls after him. Two of the earthen guards fastidiously ignore him, one shooting at Brilliant Shimmer and the other at Cobbled Stone (who dodges once more, now looking a little peeved).

A unicorn, in a desperate attempt to stop the music swamring around its head, opens fire with its weapons, scattering magical shots across the noses of Composed Luthier and Brilliant Shimmer. This only causes the music to increase in volume, speed, and screech. A pegasus places his hooves over his poor ears and, screaming, accidentally steers himself straight into a stalagmite, falling unconscious to the ground. Or maybe it wasn't an accident. The unicorn, meanwhile, loses its shield with the distraction to its concentration, but puts it up again, reinforcing it with extra magic, after a few moments.

Cobbled Stone, while all this is going takes advantage of the opportunity the minotaur has given him, pulling out the biggest metal stick the majority of ponies there have ever seen. "You want thunder and lightning?" he shouts to the bullheaded bruiser. "CHEW ON THIS!"

There is a brilliant noise, loud enough to be silent as the night and a deafening beam of light, bright enough to be the break of day. It's as if all the flame a dragon would produce over its entire lifetime is compressed into a single shot of painful burning. Several of the crystals embedded in the walls break open, sending purple shards flying everywhere, as dust flies up from every direction, enveloping the battlefield with a thin layer of grit.

Several moments after, the dust settles.

The minotaur stands precisely where he was before, axes crossed in front of its chest. One is crackling with electricity, and the other vibrating with sound. They are undamaged, and a chipped and cracked cannonball lies at the bull's hooves. "Moo-hoo-hoo-hoo," the beast chuckles. "That all you got, ponies?"
