The New Repuplic's Call [Skype] (Full)

Headline : The Diamond Dogs have magic! Last year the world round saw the black star fall from the sky across the sea into the Ridge-back mountains in the heart of the Continent of Adacanis and now wild magics fly forth from the paws of the hound elite. Official inquiries abound, but each question asked just raises tensions.

Cue the adventurers: Be it for academic advancement, journalistic glory, military applications, or just a really strong desire to learn teleportation; organisations, governments, and individuals from around the world have traveled to any one the rival dog kingdoms in hopes of discovering the secrets of this new form of magic for themselves.

Should you count yourselves among the curious masses, you will likely be found searching the City of Oak Bark. The city is the last of the old Equestrian holdings on the Continent and serves as the world's gateway into the interior. Probably not coincidentally, the first grand display of dog magic to the whole word took place here.

Any limitations on characters (banned skills, starting level, etc)?

Could we get an idea of who the other (reserved) player's characters are (to get an idea of what characters have been made already), or are they not made yet as such?

I'm considering a minion/mook/companion based character with a purposefully embarrassing/silly backstory.
Likely knowledge-focused, with a focus on healer/support in combat.

Will make a sheet later.

No skill that are ban off the bat though I do reserve the right to ban anything that becomes overpowered later on. Game starts at level 1. Nothing is made yet.

Made a sheet. Flavor/name/certain abilities pending until I discuss things with Kajisora, and see what other abilities the others will take (will probably change some of the abilities that become redundant).

Since only one person is being recruited, doesn't really matter, unless the reserved-peeps go for it as well.

Well I've built this much so far on my character, (link here) but totally unsure what flavor to best go with it. My own ideas feel like too many options at this moment. So getting a few ideas from the rest of would be great.

Sounds suspiciously like an Earth Pony...

Oh! Maybe this character was born into/adopted by a Unicorn family, and he felt inferior somehow - despite their urgings to the contrary - because he couldn't do magic; and then WOAH! Diamond dogs have it too! Maybe he can learn it after all!

Mmm... The idea of an Earth Pony with a Magic-related inferiority complex... Makes me think of having my character run on anti-magic rage to do things. And for some reason, some how, it makes me think of this pony's rage in a Sunderblade-ish punch of doom!

Updated Glitter Dust. Now he has a Breezie-oriented backstory and flavoring! It's still pending, though, as I'm still trying to find how to make him fit in with Kajisora's character in mind...

Two things of warning.
One you would be playing a skype game with 5 other people that have been playing the system anywhere from day one to less than a month in it would be like an ensign newbie being thrown into the poker game of the old guard officers.

Secondly you would have to present a character that could be selected over any other submissions.

@Zarhon: I don't think having Magic linked with Awesomeness is a good idea. Regardless he looks overall ok. And like a really silly idea.

@Taffy: I think it'd be better to have a newbie join the campaign myself. And I say build a character. We've still got a bit to wait for even all of the reserved peoples to make characters and/or drop or whatever.

@Me/New info:I equally have updated my character, only thing still to do is flavor. (also traded out HoC for Radicalness for those that saw my non-combat build before.) MEET GREEN EYES THE EARTH PONY!

Ok... I'm highly unsure what to think of a duel-character like this. It could work wonders. But really not so sure it's a good idea.

I would love to try out this character. With or without backstory.

I'd suggest updating the character to the abilities system... Other then that seems like a neat idea to play an open changeling character.

Taffy, do you have a working microphone for the Skype calls? It's rather clunky to play over Skype if you can't be heard/respond vocally (you can text, but that's clunky for both yourself and the DM/others, if he's okay with it that is).

Edit: Added more flavor to Glitter Dust, namely, minion/conjuration individuality and names (bottom notes).

I've wanted to try a Jekyll and Hyde type character for a while. But, I thought it would be more interesting if the two entities really were two whole different people, rather than two "sides" of the same person.
