"Everything was filed according to procedure and that's the only book of that style in the archive. We've attempted magical scans of the area but we can't even find a trail to begin to start a search." Brisk Iron said to Nightshade in a very calm and even tone.

Re: Equestrian Radio Show's Adventure Variety Hour: Explorers of STOMP (thread 2)
Ruby grinds her teeth in pain for a moment as her knees shake before letting it out in a shakey breath.
“I say, that IS a jolt isn’t it…”
She says under her breath as her power flares up into another shockwave. As the light passes over the others she moves over to Gearrick’s side and places a hoof on his back, sending another smaller pulse through him when she notices he seems to be faring worse than the others.
“Steady on.”

Nightshade looks at Brisk Iron in shock and disbelief.
"How can you stay calm in a situation like this?! Do you know how serious this is!? Maybe your so calm because you realize that our doom is certain."
She dunks and covers she head as if protecting her self from falling debris.
"Inside my book- what use to be inside my book at least, was just one spell. One partial, incomplete spell... the omniverse spell."
She pauses for dramatic effect.
"It wasn't even one percent finished. Well, at least I think. It is hard to gauge infinite knowledge. But that little bit of knowledge over the magical fiber of omniverse far surpasses the combined magical potential of all the artifacts kept in the keep by a thousand fold!"
She then stares off into the distance before giving a weak smile.
"It may or may not also contain the trapped soul of the... god of death. Which in the hypothetical event that it discovered it is no longer trapped within the pages of the book might seek out revenge and live up to it's name shake... yeah..."
She quickly stands to her feet and points fiercely at one of the guards and barks orders.
"You there! Quickly, set the alarm to death con, um, bajillion! Our world might not survive this but we still have a chance to save countless others."
She then starts to think about all the other possible worlds out there and the kind of creatures living on them. Pictures of fluffy bunny creatures pop into her head and a smile comes across her face. Then creatures made of chocolate. Then she wonders if eating such chocolate creatures would be considered morally wrong. Then that makes her think if other creatures that eat us think we taste like chocolate. Then her eyes got wide as she wondered if chocolate also had feeling like us. Maybe we should build some type of chocolate nature reserve to protect them or something. That entire thought process took about a second before she blurted out the random sentence.
"Think about the chocolate! Won't someone think about the chocolate! Chocolate has feelings too! ...I think."

Brisk Iron's expression didn't waver for even a moment, "If things were truly as dire as you claimed, shouldn't you, I, or any number of these guards already be dead? You're being hysterical. We'll certainly take precaution but I'm not seeing any reason to panic. Either what was in the book was never the threat you thought it was or something has managed to quite thoroughly negate it. Now you're going to need to calm down or you will be escorted off of the premises."

Re: Equestrian Radio Show's Adventure Variety Hour: Explorers of STOMP (thread 2)
Nightshade gave a frustrated sigh.
"Just because we are not currently dying doesn't mean the threat of immediate destruction is any less real. Let's pretend for a moment that the clear signs of danger aren't here, why would somepony take the effort to strip the pages of a book? Why not just copy the pages down, rip out the pages or simply outright steal the book? Only somepony with mad skills could have done this and you're not even a bit curious as to why? They must of wanted something important from this book to go to lengths like this. In all your years of experience do you honestly believe this was done with benevolent reasons in mind?"
She always finds it astonishing that those with oblivious ignorance are always the ones telling her to be more serious. The world could be on fire and they would tell her to just relax. She couldn't be the only one in the world that could spot danger before it happened she thought. She refrained from telling her that outright because Brisk didn't seem like the type to handle criticism to her order well. In a way she felt kind of sad for her. Her stubborn attitude was what helped her build this strong organization but it would also lead to it's eventual collapse. Like a stone pillar slowly eroding. While she didn't say it out loud out of respect, how she was feeling was clearly expressed in her determined eyes.

Re: Equestrian Radio Show's Adventure Variety Hour: Explorers of STOMP (thread 2)
Nightshade makes a sad face then walks towards the break room without saying a word. She wasn't upset with Brisk just disappointed. Brisk said it was arrogant for her to say she knows how the story would end but she seen this scenario play out countless times before. A proud and stubborn military commander refusing to believe in something they can't see until it was to late. She thought this time might be different. But it is like yelling at words on a paper expecting the story to change. Brisk's law and order makes her predictable. She resolved if they were being willingly blind then she had no choice but to be their shepherd that will lead them to safety. If they were going to be stone walls then she would be the roof that shelters them from the storm that they were never aware was upon them. Besides that what else was she going to do until she got her book back she thought. She had her book stolen before but this was the first time somepony stole the words from it. Magic like that can't be destroyed only transferred. She knew eventually she would get it back in time. She just didn't know when. She reasoned that soon her book will return to her purged by fire like the dross removed from refined gold in the furnace. That thought brought a smile back to her face. Then she realized the corridor she had been walking in was taking longer to get through then she remembered and all it's features seemed like endless identical reoccurring patterns of doors. She came to the conclusion she was lost again.
"Oh come on!"
She shout to her self while silently wishing a dozen curses upon the pony who designed this labyrinth of madness.

Wandering the grounds instead of following the escort as previously requested left Nightshade Glimmer waking up an unknown room far away from the Keep with neither her book nor her necklace. However, while this may close the book on her story, STOMP's story continues as we're mere moments from an exciting act of valor from Hector Gildedwings fighting off the dreaded Tilde!

((I refer you to the Absence thread.))
Hector struggled to his feet. He had been mostly truant throughout the battle, unsure of what to do; as it happened, Ruby's encouragement gave him an idea. "...Okay... Let's try something then..."
He began to vibrate his wings. Only earlier that day he had been practicing Brisk Iron's magnetic weather-crafting technique; he wasn't sure what it would do in this circumstance, but it was worth a try. Metal objects began to shake as he felt the magnetic fields thickening around him. He shook harder, a thick line of sweat running from his brow as he tried to focus it towards the floating letters...
Dr Blight wrote:"Up and at 'em old boy. Tough it out and power on through!"
Says Ruby as she pats Hector on the back, a little of her magic passing into him as she does.

Using Unacceptable to add +5 to his save as a free action, bringing his total up to 10 and a success.
[0] Not On My Watch - Free Action [1/Battle]
Trigger - You or an ally makes a saving throw and dislikes the result.
Effect - Add a +5 bonus to the saving throw.

Hector's eyes snapped open as he felt an oncoming lightning strike. He had a technique for this, one he had used many times in the Equestrian skies. He caught the bolt in one claw - and, bringing his other claw up, he pulled it through his shoulder, across the stomach, and out the other claw, pointing it straight back at the source in a terrific jolt!

Re: Equestrian Radio Show's Adventure Variety Hour: Explorers of STOMP (thread 2)
Ruby drops to her knees with a cry of pain at Tilde’s latest attack, her inner light flickering for a moment as her magic responds to the assault before she grits her teeth and rises to her hooves. Closing her eyes and focusing on her magic she lets out another shockwave to revitalize herself and her allies, this one particularly potent as it hovers around them as a shimmering nimbus of free energy for a moment. Breathing a easier, she considers how each attack seems to be increasing in strength before frowning.
“This… does not appear to be going favorably gents…”
She says with a wince.
“This… does not appear to be going favorably gents…”
She says with a wince.
- ”question”:
- Amazing Grace allows me to heal up to six targets, I only have 5 available targets at the moment, can I use that sixth slot to awaken Trotson, I’d like to have him use his Call Out utility to see if we can’t get some help in here. I'll include the utility at the bottom in case you need to read it.
Assuming I can then add this to the end of my post.“Come on Trotson, up you go.”
She says as she nudges the little ewe with a hoof gently to rouse it with a bit of magic.
“Stay behind me Trotson old boy, and I need you to listen carefully. Trotson. Speak.”
The little crystal ewe hides under Ruby’s legs before taking a deep breath and letting out an ear-splitting shriek of distress than can be heard throughout the compound. (think the screaming goat videos, but absurdly loud.)
Call Out (2) – At Will
You let out a loud call. You make it clear if your call is meant as a warning, distress call, etc. Choose one:
A) Name any number of creatures that could recognize your voice. They hear your howl automatically and know how far away from them you are and in what direction.
B) Every creature within one to ten miles (your choice) hears the call and knows where you are in relation to them.

Re: Equestrian Radio Show's Adventure Variety Hour: Explorers of STOMP (thread 2)
“Its not going too badly with you being able to keep us up all the time.” Gearick said, having grunted a little when Tilde’s lighting nearly flung him onto his hooves... but their newest companion was swift in recovering the damage and giving him an even stronger temporary barrier, even letting him throw of the lingering weakness of the lightning. Still, the unicorn had to admit, they were taking more and more damage, and as Tilde’s attack were hitting everyone... it was hard for Gearick to summon except for his giant.
Except the summoner had a few more tricks up his sleeve that he hadn’t pulled out before. Eyes glowing gold once more, the unicorn rose up his left hoof before slamming it back down onto the floor, a magical rune issuing forth before him. From it emerged a translucent being of energy... only it didn’t emerge fully, instead a beam of energy shot from it after it wa halfway up, hitting Hector and giving him a burst of energy and then the being vanished.
Meanwhile, the fire giant’s sword glowed, and what looked like chains of pure fire wrapped themselves around Tilde. They didn’t seem to restrict his movements, but at the same time, they didn’t exactly come across as painless either. The giant hoping that the large scathing attacks would make the chains burning the enemy multiple times instead of the normal one.

Re: Equestrian Radio Show's Adventure Variety Hour: Explorers of STOMP (thread 2)
Hector scarcely noticed the assistance of his allies or the activity around him, focused solely on strengthening his magnetic fields. His plan was sketchy, but it was a plan: if Professor Lichen's notes were correct, and Hector had understood correctly, and he was doing this just the right way, then the magnetism would hopefully solidify the abominable, damnable Tilde into something he could handle in a nice, straightforward way...
- Combat:
- Regen 3, courtesy of Grease.
Take an extra standard action courtesy of Gearick:
[+4] Trance - Standard Utility
You suffer vulnerability 4 until the end of your next turn.
And now I shall take my normal Standard Action...
[–7] Mask of Thundering Death (Shatter Armor)- Standard Attack
Deal 1d10 damage to target creature and that creature suffers that much vulnerability until the end of your next turn.
1d10 [6] + Grease's Buff [3] = 9 damage, and that much vulnerability, to Tilde of course.
...and then use Greater Reloader...
[0] Reload - Free Utility [1/Battle]
If you spent 7 or more energy this turn, gain 5 energy.
...and then use my Minor Action for...
[-1] Offhand Strike - Minor Action [1/Battle]
You may immediately take a standard action, as long as you use it to make an attack.
...to use...
[+1] Headshot - Standard Attack
Deal 1d6 damage to target creature. If you roll a 5 or a 6, treat the die roll as though it were twice the result.
Dealing, before Resist/Vulnerability:
1d6 [3] = 3 damage to Tilde.
More warning: I'm gonna pour a fair amount of hurt on my next turn, but if you can deal any significant damage or buff someone else's damage DO IT NOW.
That being said, I rather hope, for character purposes, that Hector gets the last blow in. We are both finally getting this fight.

Re: Equestrian Radio Show's Adventure Variety Hour: Explorers of STOMP (thread 2)
Grease watches as Hector hurls the Lightning at Tilde, shivering as the magnetic field in the room shifts. "That.was.awesome." He says emphatically, completely unaware that his bowtie is smoking and fizzling under the collar of his jacket.
- Spoiler:
Spellscape familiar is toasted. I'll take 6 HP from Ruby. Gain 1 energy from my trait.
Make completely literal use of [+2] Friendly Encouragement - Standard Utility
Target ally can roll twice on his or her next attack and take either result.
On Hector. If you're about to go for another Shatter Armor into overload (which is what it looks like), I can't think of a better move to roll twice on than Shatter Armor. This also lets me go Panther Mode next turn, especially if Tilde is suffering from vuln...
Save vs. Vuln: 1d20=18. Neat.

Ruby staggered on her hooves when the bolts slammed into her before shaking herself off. Looking around at the others as she finds herself too tired to make another shock wave just yet, she spots Hector who appeared to have taken quite the beating from the bolts. Walking over she places a hoof on his side, intending to send a more directed bolt of magic through him. Her magic flickers brighter for a moment, creating another weaker healing shock wave.

As burning flames encircled the letters, there were a few lingering pulses of magical energy until they all disappeared. The air slowly started to return to normal.
- OOC:
- Miscalculated. Battle over. You can start post battle cooldown discussion IC though I do have something for the OOC thread.

Ruby stays alert for a few moments once Tilde fades, looking around as the air shifts back to normal before sighing in relief.
"Well... THAT was quite a workout wasn't it? Is everypony quite alright?"
She asks as the glow about her lessens back to its usual shimmer and Trotson peeks out from his hiding place behind her legs.

Grease sits down on the countertop, hard. "Ineedto blow something up. So, yes." He says with a heavy sigh, folding his 'wings' and unzipping his jacket. "But first, logistics. Where in the name of alternating current did Tilde go?"

“Hopefully we’ve seen the last of it.” Gearick said, sighing in relief when the golem’s chains of fires did their job wonderfully... the unicorn gave his an old friend a nod before it faded away, returning back to its plane of existence. Turning to to Ruby, the unicorn said. “Through, without your restorative magic, I think we would likely not have won that fight, thank you.”

Hector fell back to all fours, panting heavily as he watched the dissipating letters before him. He heard his team mates congratulating each other - he, however, had other concerns.
He looked around the room, taking stock of who was still present - the object of his concern was not. "Where... where is Dusty?"

"Air vent." Grease says, pointing at the opening in the ceiling with one claw while fiddling in his gearbox with the other. "She took Ready Quill with her, they should be fine."

Re: Equestrian Radio Show's Adventure Variety Hour: Explorers of STOMP (thread 2)
"That's nice," he said quietly, leaping up to the open vent in the ceiling to start clawing his way up and in. Grease could say she was safe all he wanted: Hector wanted to see it...
- Acrobatics:
- Getting up to the vent isn't a problem, but Hector's a big boy, and getting into the vent may prove problematic. Let's find out, shall we?
Result: 1d20 [5] + Acrobatics [11] = 16
