And as an added bonus, we also helped save a whole town.

500 By my count. Really I don't put that large a focus on the actual numbers. I aim for about 2-3 sessions worth being a level up. Two sessions worth if you've done some innovative thinking and good role-playing.LoganAura wrote:HEy, Silent? What's our Harmony status?

Direction and distance to the bynd:
Four hours east south east of the city. You are headed east north east for the monastary for Silver Star. So it would be a bit out of the way.

Trigonometry power go!
We will assume movement is standard pace regardless of direction, and that we are going on a perfect angle. That is, North-east being 45 degrees off east and north respectively, East-North-east and East-South-East should be a 45 degree angle off from each other.
This gives us an angle. Meet them along a North-South line to get cardinal distance between our proper route and the bynd (this assumes we go straight back to the other path, and not angle our approach to best suit the path. If given a time to reach the Zodiac, I could draw up an exact timeframe).
Cosine rule applies: a^2=b^2+c^2-2bc(CosA)
Our triangle is isoceles, b = c at 4 hours of length.
a^2 = 32 - 32(0.707)
a = approx 3.
So... We'd lose three hours simply switching routes.
If we assume "a day's travel" is instead eight hours of travel, or 12 hours of travel, the math changes a little bit:
a^2 = 16+ (64|144)-2(4)(8|12)(Cos45)
a^2 = (34.75|92.13)
a = 5.9 (for 8 hours), or 9.6 (for 12 hours)
This means that if we go to the bynd, and we have a map so we don't get lost (perfect geography knowledge assumed for easy math), we add the time taken with the 4 hour journey, and subtract out the original time:
If it's 8 hours to Star's Reach, we're 1.9 hours behind schedule.
If it's 12 hours to Star's Reach, we're 1.6 hours behind schedule.
...And they said math wouldn't be useful later in life. If it's a 12 hour journey, another 90 minutes won't kill anypony. 5400 seconds of effort? Easy as counting to 5400.

Re: Signup and OOC for SilentBelle's Campaign - An Arctic Advent
Heh, good ol' math. It's 8 hours to Star's Reach. That's basic enough knowledge for everyone to know.
Re: Signup and OOC for SilentBelle's Campaign - An Arctic Advent
I don't think the issue would be going two hours out of our way. It would be if we get stuck dealing with something that takes the rest of the day or longer.

I leave it to party judgment. Glenrir has resolved that it would be pointless, but he would not object if another suggested it.

Well, Camellia already came as close to volunteering to go as she'd ever clearly state, lol.

Re: Signup and OOC for SilentBelle's Campaign - An Arctic Advent
Sure you can. It's actually a decent time if people want to make changes and what-have-you, swap a talent if you wish, so long as you keep the general essence of what your character is
Re: Signup and OOC for SilentBelle's Campaign - An Arctic Advent
I dunno about it being a decent time.... we're still waiting on changes to It's Witchcraft, Ponykinesis, Weather-Crafting, and possibly other stuff....

I meant in the way that you haven't spent any of your talents yet or magic points.

Re: Signup and OOC for SilentBelle's Campaign - An Arctic Advent
Alright, it's been about half a month, I think we should try and get this thing moving again.
Re: Signup and OOC for SilentBelle's Campaign - An Arctic Advent
Yay. I don't mind. I'm still waiting on a post in another campaign for... three?
The post is daunting as hell, 7 pages long last I checked.

Re: Signup and OOC for SilentBelle's Campaign - An Arctic Advent
Well, now that the major changes have taken place it's also a good time to re-work character sheets. I'll get on that in a bit.

If this weren't full I'd be tempted to join, myself.
If one of the players in this turns up absent, perhaps I can work out an idea...
