Oh yeah, and my "Fire Dance" combat talent is from Paper Shadow's combat expansion. Is it still alright if I use it?

Okay so my best friend said stuff in his corner of the universe is going crazy right now so he'll be making a character but doesn't want to do any games just yet for a month. I'm still up for doing this whenever, but he won't be joining me.

EDIT: Also I'm still lurking and reading everyone's characters and it all seems SO AWESOME ((Dang okay it might be obvious a good deal of my character's story obsession stems from my own)) when I'm not busy tackling my growing pile of fanfiction to read I SERIOUSLY gotta explore this site more for stories and characters.  

Well 4th, if you get in the game Fancy Tome might have long conversations with Theseus about books. XD

On the top left of the sheet is a button called "Share". Click that and change the setting from "Just You" to "Anyone who has the link". We can't see it if you don't. Don't worry, everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) does this, usually multiple times...

That happens to everyone now and then... And far as I know google doesn't have any option to make it default to be open to anyone with the link.

All right, so far I have 8 entries. That's... probably a few too many, so I'd like to narrow it down a bit.

1. I'd like to give precedence to people who have never played a game before.
2. Next, I'd like to give precedence to anyone who is not currently in a game.
3. After that, I'll just go down the list by order of asking to join.

I'll probably shoot for... six people max. Is that all right with everyone?

Five to six people is the ideal. You don't want to go over that for sure.

Alright then, guess that puts me down the list a bit since I'm currently in two other games, but I'm fine with that. I want to give people who have never played before a chance after all!

For a new GM, I'd actually suggest limiting yourself to 3-4 players. Prioritize other new people and people without any/with very few other games going on right now. Ease yourself into the role rather than jumping straight in. After that, I'd suggest picking select persons rather than First Come, First Serve. You'll want some experienced players to help you out after you get the newbies and others out of the way.

I may back out anyway, but I do have several other games going on right now(only one here, though)

I'm not sure I approve of those criteria (and not JUST because all three of them rule me out first.)
What you should probably look at is
'What characters fit best with my setting.'
'What skill sets work best with challenges I intend to loose?'
'What PLAYERS who have submitted do I think I'll get along with the best?'

Filling a game with new players is already sort of risky, and I'd say it's a bad idea to try it when you yourself are a newbie DM...

I'm not sure if basing it only the character skillsets is really a good move. Obviously no matter who is picked, some amount of re-adjustment is going to be needed as too many of the suggested characters are Brawn focused.

I do agree that you don't want a game of entirely new players but, I don't think limiting the game to 3-4 players is really going to much help with a play by post game like this. (Really, 3 is too few for this system.)

As somebody who doesn't even plan to app a character I'd say because this is a play by post game, go with six players and the rest of the stuff you planned to do.

Also I would suggest you do look over everyone's sheet and voice opinions of them at lest for the two you have to turn away... But then again, that's just something I know that I'd do... Cause of how I be.

I'm with Z2, here. His three questions are a good practice for getting a good cohesive party, and if I may add a further point, it may be good to give feedback on each character to help drive improvement and tuning them to fit best with your setting.

I actually think a play-by-post game would be very slow with only 3-4 players, but maybe that's just me. I do have to agree with picking your players though, you want players that you think would make your game a better experience.

I'm just hoping I get to play, but I do think that just 3-4 players would be kind of dull.

What about... splitting it up into two? Would it be possible to spirit up another campaign from the people I have to reject?

As much I as I would love to, I have a feeling I'd be over-extending myself on two games, trying desperately to entertain both groups while never having enough time to plan either of them. But I am a man of ideas, so if there's anyone who wants to GM but doesn't have any ideas, I could offer them.
Now, where was I? Right, looking over character profiles to pick a group of five or so.

Sigh... I feel like Twilight from "The Ticket Master." No matter who I choose, there have to be people that I reject, and I feel just horrible about that.
But, in the end, my goal is to make a smaller team that I'm comfortable leading. So... I think I'll choose the following people:

Ugh. I hate saying that with finality, but... if I want to get this game on the road, I've got to do it, huh? I've tabulated the abilities, the stats, all that stuff, and I think you're nice and balanced. The only things I need are the following:
Ping, I need your items.
Logan, give me a bit. I have to decide what "Sweet and Elite" will mean in this campaign. Hmm... You will be in Canterlot at one point, so...
EDIT: Oh, actually, one more thing. Could every pony give me a summary of what your cutie mark means specifically? I have no idea if it will come into play or not, but I'd just like to know.

I'm not at all shocked that a member of the staff chose Logan and Ping over me (you can feel free to read whatever implications in that statement you like) but, I'm shocked you would boot me out in favor of Z2 whose character doesn't even have a background story or much at all written down of personality. One of the other new people sure but, he had the laziest contribution so far so it's just insulting. Not that I'm unused to being insulted by the staff. Well, see you around I guess.

Judging by the sheets, Z2's character had the highest Precision stat with 10, plus training in Acrobatics and CM in Mechanics. No one else had over 7 (with a small exception to someone with a 10 in Stealth), and your character in particular had three (technically four, thanks to AJoAT). Alicorn said he chose to make sure that the stats were nice and balanced, so it kinda makes sense Z2 got in...
