What can I actually feel in this form? Can I feel the ground, or warmth, or anything? Can my mouth move naturally, and express emotions well? Can I cry?

So should I make another endurance check to avoid going splat?

What it sounds like is that you need to make another roll... And then tell us which one is your ender roll & which one is the flight check at a -15...

I'd say they should go in order, yes? First to fight the fall, then to resist the impact.

and 4+12+3=19 for Endurance.

Okay, in this form you have enough sensation that you can grasp things without worrying about breaking them, or dropping them, and can have vague ideas about things like temperature and hardness, but more sophisticated sensations are out of his grasp. His mouth moves, and he can portray emotion, but once again, it's not perfect. And no, he can't cry, and yes, If you're doing that as a flight check, you need an endurance roll.

I'd say it's upto you to pick and choose what roll when where... But now that you picked it's gone that way... Hopefully you don't get any damage out of that fall...

Yeah... The assists... DO TO LITTLE! To help in my opinion... It should be a like sacable help that get's better the higher your roll is... Starting at a 15 = +2, a 20 = +3, a 25 = +4, & a 30 gets a +5 bonus minimum... Or the starting DC starts at 20 when a harder Assist DC, and no-bonus starts at 25 for the hardest of assistances... ALSO there should be in theory RP bonus to my roll given the timing... And the context... So yeah... That's my two bits on the whole Assist Mechanics and how WEAK they are... They too weak... And too much upto the GM to be either worthless or worthwhile to even try.

To be fair, all you're doing is clapping a beat that Skitter wasn't even expecting. You can't expect that to help much.

Also, the design flaw in your setup is that as we can see from what you just did, you can use your 20 persuasion for every assist check you ever make. so now just add +3 to all our rolls, and see how much extra we get. That's doing everything Laughter and Grandeur do, but doing it all the time. And 20 persuasion is a force in its own right.
Assist rolls scale upwards extremely quickly because of their broad range of applications.

Err... Only if it's a perception assistance would it be a +20 total... But yeah... There is a flaw in my idea, but the same is true of the old system having it be pointless in how little it helps & junk... But I think that's solved by having it be the "assist DC" being something low level-ish and the context of how good it being of a roll... Cause high-rolls should always get better results then low-rolls... If I were to get a 20 total on an assist check... The clapping was to give Skitterbuzz a type of timing to run off of... WHICH IN THIS ROOM IT'S BUILT AROUND COMEDY AND TIMING IS EVERYTHING in comedy... >.>

It doesn't matter if it'd work in every situation but hey... in this context... a 30 Assist by the LAUGHTER REALM character in a puzzleroom built around his stalk & trade... SHOULD TURN A FAIL INTO A PASS! That's all I'm really saying at this point... And I'm just not understanding why it didn't. Assists are 100% built around context in my opinion... So yeah...

The thing is with assist checks, I kinda always saw them as being more for when someone juuust misses a DC. For instance, the first assist roll I made pushed another player over the posted DC to avoid getting flattened by a wall of fire. And, as you guys are now demonstrating, the little boosts can add up. Skitter is getting +2 from laughter, +2 from the assist, and +1 from grandeur. But when someone misses a DC by a lot, that's what magic points, and Check boosters like Generosity and Yee-Haw are for. And yes, the bonuses can matter, and lessen the impact, but right now, it isn't enough to turn a fail by that much into a pure pass. I'm sorry.

As far as what you are saying about the context, I think all I can say is that's not how I interpret the assist mechanics. Once again, I'm really sorry, but that's how I see it.

Xel, I think you come across as more hostile than intended in many situations because the standard internet dialect interprets CAPS LOCK as shouting, and not just emphasized words. Admittedly, bold words don't do much better, and _underscores_ are rarely used for emphasis, but you're certainly less likely to be misinterpreted that way.

I'm sorry, just the type to put a lot of passion in what I say... To explain just how strongly I feel on the subject. It's just what I do.
