A Tale of Two Kingdoms
My, it has been a significant couple of years...
Mirage Sands returned from the center of the planet; Trust, Love, Hope, Sacrifice, Progress, and Inspiration united as the Elements of Harmony once again in six lovely ponies; and I got my brother back! ...and that was just one day.
A dragon threatened to saturate the land in fog...
Solum took over turning the planet once more, leaving me to just focus on keeping the sun active!
The draconequus Tyranny came back to terrorize once again... and was turned to mist, once again.
Prince Sirius got married to Gleaming Shield! ...and I heard he had a very peaceful honeymoon, after having to save the changelings from the invading Hoofghanistan Templar.
Dawn Glimmer managed to qualify for the 'earn one pair of wings, get a crown free' deal, and is currently learning the finer points of politics...
Even Tyranny got reformed! I hear he's working as a dance instructor now...
Now all that's left to do is defeat Sombra, seat the alicorn of passion back on the crystal throne, and then I, Prince Ignis, will get to take my first vacation in over 1000 years!!!
...
What do you mean the crystal empire has been back for a while?
What do you mean there's an alicorn of 'love' already on the throne?
WHAT DO YOU MEAN SHE COMES FROM 'THE' KINGDOM OF PONIES WHERE THE PRINCESS CLAIMS TO RAISE MY SUN?!?
SOMEPONY GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS!
*Sob* My vacation...

Re: A Tale of Two Kingdoms
So, I'm recruiting for another PbP; that way when I try to procrastinate working on one, I can make myself work on the other
Looking for new players, up to 6, try to use the full complement of alternate elements, but you won't be the MAIN bearers. This will be a weird sort of investigative campaign, where you and other players, potentially some from Equestria even, try to figure out why there are two kingdoms SO SIMILAR to each other, and why they never knew about it. Since Ignis pays well, you will start with the full complement of bits.
No banned races.
Talent Spec Points.
No Element Upgrade points.
Switching out combat items at will, just tell me.
Probably Grapple, unless players object?
Flaws allowed, 1 free (Free flaw cannot be 'Derp')
Players:
Confirmed:
Cassiopeia - her curves are for strangulation purposes
Wild Blue - Wavelenght: 470, Height: 2 ft., Topspeed: A LOT.
Wishful 'There is no Way I'm Calling You Wihkuk' Thinking - the changeling.
He-who-has-not-yet-been-named - totally batty
THE MIGHTY PORKO
Tourmaline Sharp - A gem of the music industry

Re: A Tale of Two Kingdoms
*already has theories popping up in my head to what's really goin' on*
I'd like to reverve a spot, not sure what I'll make, but I'll most likely test out another of those different elements... Think the party would be best set by having a full set of these alt-elements.

Re: A Tale of Two Kingdoms
Grapple? Which alternate elements do you mean? Specific ones from a specific thread or just... any?
Edit: I've got two ideas. Both are a bit silly. Giant snake or thauramin player (like a theremin but, with magic).

Re: A Tale of Two Kingdoms
You have an opinion on which of those character concepts you'd prefer I went with? (I'm currently leaning towards giant snake as there's not too many games I think I'd get away with it.)

Re: A Tale of Two Kingdoms
Like, JUST a snake? It might be fun to give Ungula Nagas to Equestria's minotaurs, but I'm not sure how a plain snake would work...

Re: A Tale of Two Kingdoms
Well ponies can manipulate doorknobs and pencils with hooves somehow so I figure doing similar with a tail makes about as much sense. Check that. More sense. But, if you don't like the idea, I'm fine with doing the other.

Re: A Tale of Two Kingdoms
You could do a type of Naga character you know, Ramsus... I think that might be cool and work for both parties enjoyment? Yes, no, maybe?
Re: A Tale of Two Kingdoms
*shrug* I was just responding with my thoughts on it. If he says no, I'll consider the Naga idea.
I'm not sure how I feel about the Grapple system. Making Leggo! and Gotcha! useless seems like a really weird call.
The elements seem pretty complicated (and thus a little bit hard to understand exactly how they function) outside of Love and Trust. A question about Trust. When it mentions abilities, did you mean the Ability scores?

Re: A Tale of Two Kingdoms
The Grapple system is more to deal combat without doing combat... It was extremely fun doing it between players in Shadow Walkers. Also failing the Grapple, nine times out of ten get you combat event. Grapple rolls are NOT skill checks... So that makes things different and interesting... But hey, if you don't like it I'm sure we don't need to use it.
Re: A Tale of Two Kingdoms
I would like to ask for a spot, and also ask how you feel about re-using a character. Since I have a feeling the first two campaigns I was in won't start up again ever, I want to try to use one of those characters.

It's not that I dislike the general idea. It just seems to be a system where generalizing is punished and it pointlessly nullifies two utilities which normally are meant to deal with those exact situations.
Edit: To explain what I mean about generalization is punished... Everyone who has a 10 in a stat will operate at the same strength but, anyone who chose to have all 7's will just suck at grappling. This actually makes very little sense since that kind of person would probably have the ability and know-how to be a better grappler.

Re: A Tale of Two Kingdoms
@Ramsus
It's my campaign and I'll punish generalizing if I want to
But that is a reasonably valid point... Perhaps I'll institute some manner of rule where you have to utilize the same attribute as the enemy for certain defensive grapples, that way your jack of all trades could at least have an advantage in preparedness and countering...
@Colter
I'm usually not thrilled, but if the character's adventure got cut off for reasons beyond your control, I can certainly get behind 'trying again'.

Re: A Tale of Two Kingdoms
Oh, some grapple notes:
You are usually medium sized. The exceptions to this are:
A. Special Plot Things
B. The Shapeshifter Destiny
C. Labelled Utility downgrades to small
D. The 'Bigger Mac' Flaw allows you to grapple with large creatures, but gives you a -5 to defensive grapple checks. You still count as medium otherwise.
E. The Appleteenie Flaw allows you to avoid well, granting a +5 to defensive grapple checks, but disallowing you from initiating them. You still count as medium otherwise.

I like the idea, Colter, but I'd hold off on assuming too much about that changeling conflict
Otherwise, I like the idea.

Re: A Tale of Two Kingdoms
Hey Colter, I'd actually advise against Paranoia. It's generally more reliable to view it as helpful to the enemies than the PCs.
Edit: I also note that you don't have any items. Or your TS points.

Re: A Tale of Two Kingdoms
Just making a Note of it that I've got my character done non-combat wise. I'll do combat hopefully later tonight. If not, tomorrow. Done. I've got Telepathy on their mostly just because I think it's important for someone to have it. If someone makes a character who they feel it would make more sense for, I've got other Utilities I have in mind that I could take.

I'm going to ask for a spot, just in case I think of a character I want to play as...

I'm not going to give you a spot without a character, but you'll still probably get in... once you submit something.

Re: A Tale of Two Kingdoms
Well, had more people applied and the limit was reached, I would have been the first to give up my spot as I hadn't actually made a character yet. Perhaps I should have worded it as "I wish to express interest", but yeah, I understand...Z2 wrote:Paper Shadow wrote:I'm going to ask for a spot, just in case I think of a character I want to play as...

I'm strongly considering making this a Skype game instead, your thoughts?
