"I'm alright!" said Lightfoot, woozily getting back on his feet. "'Tis... but a scratch... Everypony stay indoors... windows barred and all that... so she can't get you!"

Lightfoot attempts to fly off after the smoky wisps, but given his dizzy state and their head start is simply not fast enough to catch up.

Zahra coughs and groans, staggering back onto her hooves shakily and disentangling herself from her heavy robes. "I saw too late, too slow my eye - and for my failure, three pegasi." she sighs, turning to slump back towards home, "I've lost, I've failed, no great scholar am I," but then she pauses to look back at all the hurt ponies strewn through the hall - the entire village was there, and scarce but a few ponies had survived unscathed. "But I can't go home, and let ponies die. This much I'll do, then make my byes."

With a heaving breath, she pulls herself back up the stairs, lurching forwards one step at a time. "Who is hurt from the nightmare's raid? Stay where you are, I know first aid." she calls weakly, making her way through the wounded and helping them where she could.

Copper tries to right his hat, steady his buckling legs, and speak to the air to send away the worries:

"That... probably COULD have gone worse, but it should have gone much better. Ugh, did she really somehow STEAL THE BODIES of some of the pegasi? ...The mind control worries me more than the 'eternal night' thing... It also probably rules out that just being a curse and not actually a mad demon...

The unicorn slinks his way after the zebra who burst in at the last moment, nervously attempting to request aid:

"Listen... whoever you are. You seem to know a fair bit about how this was supposed to go, and I also got a certain sort of tip off. While you're making the rounds could you surreptitiously ask after those who want to help, and lead them to the library? I think... I think I should go ahead to there myself."

Coppertop slowly trudges out of the hall, SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING his options on the way to the library where research supposedly continues.

"But... she didn't answer my question if lights are allowed," Bright Idea mutters to herself, not really sure what to do now, other than refine the new ideas swirling inside her head, including lighting systems are princess tracking devices so guards won't lose track of Celestia in the future...

Wormwood stood shaken for a few moments, then slowly roused himself to motion. Wow, I'd have paid more attention to the sunset if I'd have known it might be our last...

"Um... I can help with the medical aid... I'm not a doctor or anything but I know a few things." He figured tending to the injured would help take his mind off of what was to come... at least temporarily.

Quite a few ponies who can still stand come up to Zahra and get healed up enough to set on their own healing motions. The ponies can notice Coppertop leaving the party-area and various mares, colts, stallions, and fillies, all around. A small white earth pony filly, with a pink mane and no cutie mark mumbles something quietly before slipping off out of the building herself, disappearing into the night before anypony can take too much notice.

Lightfoot's perception is 8, and without a nat 20 which I don't think he can get there's no way he would ever be able to hear the filly. But just for fun...

I'm... gonna go ahead and say he completely misses seeing the filly.

Lightfoot observes a unicorn heading out of the hall. After he said not to leave. The nerve of some ponies. He swooped down next to Coppertop.

"Sir," said Lightfoot. "If you insist on going outdoors when there is a very dangerous being loose in and around Ponyville, then I must insist on escorting you somewhere safe."

"If the safety of others' environment is your only concern, I can escort YOU to a pony I believe to be standing alone... Given that the dangerous being you mention is only to become more dangerous; I don't think there currently IS a zone of safety beyond that which we fight for, but I intend to learn what I can at the library regardless, and... Try."

Copper stands still for just a moment, in which his knees can be seen to shake.

"...I would appreciate your help."

"If there is no zone of safety..." said Lightfoot, half to himself. "Then... I won't be of much use guarding Ponyville or making everyone stay somewhere..."

Lightfoot looks to the sky briefly before closing his eyes and looking back at Coppertop.

"And if I am no help here I must find a way to help!" said Lightfoot. "If you intend to go to the library for answers, I shall follow! Consider me at your service, sir!"

Lightfoot gave a hearty salute.

The 6 ponies the overseer had visited all receive a quick, brief message in their minds, in the overseer's voice. "Library. Quick. Not much time." The voice is paniced and the telepathy is cut off quickly.

"That doesn't sound like one of my ideas," muses Bright to herself. "Why would I want to go to a library instead of making things? I guess the library would have books about large lighting systems though. Maybe even a dummies guide on princess finding! That would totally help!" With that, she places her goggles onto her face and proceeds to trot happily towards the library...

Wormwood was momentarily stunned by the voice. He didn't doubt its reality - he never doubted his perceptions, after all - but he was a little... surprised, nontheless. After a glance at Zahra, confirming she'd heard it as well, he followed her off to the library.

The 6 ponies can make their way to the library, where they hear a sound of a struggle, and notice a large shattered window, no glass on the outside, and flashes of light. The door flies open to the overseer's unconcious body getting thrown out of the library, and the three shadowbolts flying out, glaring at the ponies.

Bright Idea had made a quick stop to her home to grab her bag of scraps so she could carry the books she was going to borrow home, but it turned out to be a good idea seeing that her general fight strategy could be summed up as "Throw Things At Other Things". Seeing the zebra doctor make a pre-combat rhyme, Bright tried the same. "Well, look at it this way Doctor, these three are about to get... erm..." She tried her best to think of an end, but instead just pulled out a number of worryingly already lit fireworks. "EAT FIREWORK!"

Sharptooth's ears perk up as he hears the sounds of struggle. He sits up on top of his branch and ponders the situation.
Well, that certainly isn't good, he notes. Sounds like things are getting nasty. And it wouldn't do for the little ponies to get hurt, now would they... He grins. Well, then I'd better make myself present. After all, I'm sure they'll be very interesting. He flips down and makes his way to the battle.

Bright Idea quickly threw the fireworks towards the three Shadowbolts, igniting their uniforms. The careless fuses lit the mare's bag on fire as well, but she quickly put it out...
