Just out of curiosity, would we be able to brute force the transformation, if say we all pitched in our magic points to the effort?

Or brute force the encounter as a whole. On top of time lost talking to it, there's also the backtracking time, Emerald is furious and frustrated. The beast has painted itself as conflict-averse, to the point of not flying outside its roost for fear of a single arrow tapping it... Who knows?

It's times like these you guys should be wishing you took stuff like Twitchy tail or Break the Fourth Wall or something. I'm still offering hints to anyone who wants them, you just have to roll Knowledge.

And the answer about brute forcing would count as a hint, so...

Just a straight-up Knowledge roll for hints?

I don't think this would be a good idea.  We'd probably win, but my all my gaming instincts are telling me that going to combat would be a bad idea.  As in 'we'd be shooting ourselves in the foot' later.  This is an Androcles Lion scenario.  We're the mice, and the owlicorn is the lion.  We've got to find some way to pull the thorn from the lion's paw.  If we pull this off, we get a powerful ally, but if we go combat, we've get nothing, possibly making ourselves an enemy if the owlicorn gets away.

Remember, the Owlicorn isn't evil, just hungry.

Hint: You guys have touched on plans that will net you all three of the possible outcomes with Koli, and you have all of the tools you need already at your disposal.

I think I've got idea, here.  From Koli's last response, it seems that the orb is nothing more than a big mana battery.  It could power a shapeshifting spell.  It could be used to teleport fish or other wild animals to her.  It gives us a whole lot more options.

Assuming, of course, that Emerald doesn't just attack her right now. Then you guys get to explore that option.

It sounds so cultured when you put it as "exploring that option".

It is only the highest of the high society monster fights.

Well we've already discussed my solution. IRL you was making it seem like it was a really viable option but now you've made it slightly oppose the idea which may have been your plan all along which if it was that is diabolical and if it wasnt then youre still diabolical just off of principle. Either way I'm still gonna try for summoning an animal in our stead.

Don't worry, there are still plenty of ways your plans might not work. If picking apart your ideas and exploiting every gap or loophole that you leave in them is diabolical, then well....

Persuasion "worked" to an extent. I wasn't sure what you were going for with the Arcana check, though- just to see if you can draw up a decent spell, or...?

Yeah, the latter.  To see if Storm could draw up a decent transformation spell that could be powered by the orb.

EDIT:Just want to point out I'm willing to spend a magic point on the roll.  I'm guessing I didn't use it in my previous roll.

I'm pretty sure at some point over the last two dozen checks you used it. Somewhere.

Are you sure?  I know I offered to use it if needed, but I never got a confirmation back whether I used it or not.  I'll check over my previous posts, because I could've sworn I still had it.
