The Sun Sets OOC and info
The exposition for this game is up in the Campaign section, and here I'm going to post a few things crucial to gameplay and setting.
About the setting:
This game takes place in what is primarily the same world we see in the show, up to a certain point. For the purpose of this game, all of Season 1 took place over the course of 1 year, beginning with the Summer sun celebration, and ending with the Gala. This means, in effect, that this takes place before anything else in season 2. No Discord, no wedding/invasion. The campaign starts specifically a few days after the Gala, a few weeks before the next Summer Sun Celebration was scheduled.
The specific locale for the setting will be up to you all. You can start in any major city or small town, EXCEPT Ponyville, Canterlot, and Cloudsdale. The game is entirely sandbox, though. Once the initial party forming stage is complete you are free to move about as you see fit. More on that in a second.
About Characters:
It seems most of you already have characters in mind, but I'll go into this anyway. I only have one restriction when it comes to characters- no Changelings. They do not fit into this campaign, in any way.
There are other things that may come up, regarding "Fitting the campaign", but not much. I will say, if any of you feel the need to be mechanically inclined, this is show-canon at face value, technology wise- the don't have jets, rocket boots, lasers, holograms, etc. They have Airships and Steam powered locomotives. If you want to be mechanical, theme yourself appropriately. I realize at some points the show can be a little ambiguous, technology wise, but a good rule of thumb is, realistically, nothing that surpasses the technology we had in 1950- of course this is a character concern. In world I can tell you now they won't have anything not seen in the show.
There will be other things like this that may come up in character creation. I don't want to obtrusively limit character creation, especially if its actually creative, so if you have any concerns about what might "fit" or not, we can discuss them to make it work. Conversely, if I point out something on your sheet that doesn't work, I will offer suggestions.
I'm sure there will be more questions about mechanics as the game progresses, things like allowing mechanics to create potions instead of Arcana, and limiting the use of the item system. That's what this thread is for.
Finally, going back to the sandbox aspect of the game- If I drop any kind of plot hooks, they will be subtle. I will not say there is anything you cannot try to do (Operative word: TRY). Some things in the game are better left as they are, but I will leave that to the party to decide.

I need full character sheets from everyone.
You all need to discuss where you would like to begin, I'm not going to force you together with some half-assed hook. Remember, the place you start can be any known city, or if you prefer, you can make one up.
Once I have everything sorted, I will give an introductory expansion to the exposition, and then hand the reigns over to you.

Dodger. I figured he might start in Canterlot or Ponyville, taking advantage of the chaos. Since those aren't options, he might start in Prance (pony version of France. I r creative).

I counted you among the four who were interested. Being an archer, note the limited item system. Combat application of your bow is restricted to your combat talents (for now). Outside of battle, feel free to get creative.
The same goes for everyone else- no items will grant you any bonuses as of yet. I was originally going to say no armor, but if you want to wear it, its for style only.

@Carbo: Responding to your question in the other thread. Probably not unless you're making a god who is just going to let horrible things happen to tons of people because you're too weak willed to clean up your own messes.

As a note, his cutie mark is under his clothes. If anyone has photoshop skillz or whatnot it'd be awesome if a clerical collar could be added and the lines on the outfit removed to look better. I figure there's also some kind of white sun emblem on the front where we can't see it from the angle of the picture. Example:

Deal 2d10 damage to target creature. If you are bloodied, you 3d12 damage instead.
3) [+1] Gather Energy
On your next turn, you may take 2 standard actions. You cannot use this talent two turns in a row.
4) [-3] Fireswath
Deal 1d10 damage to all enemies.
5) [-2] Ignite
Target takes ongoing 1d10 damage (save ends).
6) [+1] Kindle Pain
If target enemy is suffering ongoing damage, increase that damage by 5.
7) [-3] Conjure Wraith
Conjure an allied Shadow Wraith. It has the following stat block.
Shadow Wraith - 10 HP
Trait - Midnight Haunting
All enemies take a -1 penalty to saving throws.
[+1] Talent - Spook
Target creature suffers a -2 penalty on its damage rolls (save ends).
[-2] Talent - Deathwish
Target enemy attacks the Shadow Wraith on its next turn if able. If the attack reduces the Shadow Wraith to 0 HP or less, the attacking enemy suffers 2d10 damage.
8 ) [-9] Conjure Fire Giant
Conjure an allied Fire Giant. It has the following stat-block.
Fire Giant - 40 HP
Trait - Combustion
When Fire Giant is destroyed, it deals 3d12 damage to all enemies.
[+3] Talent - Blazing Blade
All enemies take 1d8 damage.
[-2] Talent - Chains of Fire
Target creature is subjected to your Chains of Fire until the end of your next turn. A creature subjected to your Chains of Fire takes 2d12 damage whenever it attacks a creature other than a fire giant.
[-6] Talent - Meteor Smash
Target creature takes 4d12 damage.

Well, I wasn't going to imitate the Vash's code of ethics. Just the fact that he's goofy, walking disaster area. If it bothers you that much, I could just make another character. I'm not that attached to the character concept.

I give a few helpful suggestions that I only say cause I'm only trying to help: One, explain what "granting wishes" means, two add a little more backstory, three I'd suggest adding some flavor to the Utility talents.

Edit: Cardbo, really? He says we can't have tech above 1950s and you want to play a robot? Also, I'd object just because the joke templates are completely unbalanced and game breaking. That's why they're joke templates.

*pats Cardo on the back* Hey, I feel ya. One of the concepts I wanted to play was an Earth Pony who was mechanically a Pegasus and used stuff like hoverboards and rocket boots to fly.

If I'm reading this right....no? IW is a Unicorn talent, so you don't can't use it, and the way I've worked it out means that making potions to give yourself IW for magical effects is actually a major disadvantage. You can make just make potions that allow you to perform various magical spells and effects, and they'll be at a much lower DC than giving yourself IW and forcing magic that way.
And also, Freaky Knowledge doesn't apply to specific skills. For example, A stunts check for just flying would not use the FK boost, and there might be a History check that applies to weather crafting, in which case you would get the bonus.
Also, if you want to switch it up, I determined that Mechanics can be used in place of Arcana to make potions. But that's up to you.
