Heart barely moves as Wormwood reads, laying in silence, staring at nothing. Despite the churning in her stomach, at some point her eyes close, and she dozes off.

At last Wormwood reaches the forbidden poem. He pauses for a moment, then looks up at her, finding her asleep. Thoughts of reading the last two poems flits through his mind, but he puts them aside. He knows that, if she asked, he wouldn't be able to look her in the eye and tell her he hadn't read them. So instead he lets her sleep, and re-reads some of the better-written poems.

But at last, curiosity overcomes him. He checks one last time to see if she's asleep, then flips the page to the second-to-last poem and reads as quickly as he can before flipping the page back.

Cold nods as his tummy grumbles too... Kinda funny that I both ended up in the wrong side of the tent, and the chaotic one is nearby, yet I didn't end up biologically female... He thinks to himself as the Ninjataur leads The Reini to the breakfast nook of this tent.

Life is over when it starts again. A heart? A heart beats against the cold, a beacon in the fog. A heart concealed within the wormy wood, a heart that must be found. Should it be found? Wormwood blushes a little at the implications of the poem. He tries his best to get that under control, partially regretting he'd read the poem. This was something special, meant to be shared when the time was right, so he doesn't read the last poem. In the meantime, he watches the sleeping Bleeding Heart, trying to scrutinize her, and scrutinize his own feelings for her...

"Nothing," he says. "I just finished reading, is all." He thought for a moment. No, can't tell her. Not yet. "Your poetry is very good. Well, there were a few poems I really liked."

"Yeah? All that darkness and blood and hate? That's secretly your thing?" She grabs the book, sliding it over to her. Warily, she flips to the last two poems. "You didn't, right?"

"Look at the last two? No," he says, with a straight face. It was half-true, after all. "I have to say though, I'm eager to see them. Your third-to-last poem I particularly liked."

"Well, we've had breakfast, we've discussed poetry... is there anything in particular you want to do? Otherwise I'll just bore you with stories about myself..." He shrugged.

"Well... I wouldn't mind. You could tell me about your past... school, growing up...uh, romance..." She slides the book back into her bag and lays back down again, looking at you.

Wormwood smiles and thinks for a moment. "Well... it's hard to sum up my past. My parents used to say I was a pretty bright kid, and I did pretty well in school... when I didn't have homework. I always liked being outside with nature more than doing schoolwork." His smile faded. "And then I got into college and I just... collapsed. I never was able to keep up. I never had many friends, either, because I was too shy... never had much success in romance, either." He trailed off. "I mean, there was this one filly I was with, but..." His face scrunched up as he recalled the details.

"But, what? She dumped you? Cheated on you?" She looks at him with a mocking grin. "Wasn't a filly?"

He returned her mocking grin with a sad look. He was a little irritated at that, but didn't let it show. "She... yeah, she dumped me... and slept with some other colt three weeks later."

"Well, I got the last laugh in the end, she ended up regretting sleeping with him. Anyway, we kept in touch for a while, but she eventually kinda... forgot about me or something. Last I heard, she was with someone she was happy with." He sighed. "As for me, I'm still looking." He looked across the bed at her. "What about you? Ever had a special somepony in your life?"

Wormwood was silent for a moment. "You've had experience in those matters?" He shook his head. "But not all colts are like that. There's bound to be somepony who'll look deeper, who'll love what's in your heart."
