Silent Fractures

Heart stays where she is for now. She shivers again, and speaks to Wormwood. "See anything?" She peers around in the darkness, looking for anything through the fog- and failing that listens for anything bad.

Wormwood frowns. "No, can't say that I do."

Heart sees a staircase leading down to a door

"Well, there's a door. I guess that's the way to go." Heart peers over the railing of the catwalk. "Or we could jump for it." She looks at the others quizzically. "What do you think's down there?"

"Hmm... I don't know about jumping." Wormwood looks around briefly for an object to drop into the void, but sees nothing. "If only we had a flyer... oh wait." He glances at 72, then back to the fog. "Never mind, if somepony goes into that fog, no guarantee of being able to find their way back."

"Then I guess we're trying the door. Convenient." Heart walks down the stairs and reaches for the door, but freezes when she's overcome with a sudden sense of apprehension. There could be anything waiting to jump out from behind that door... "Uh..." She looks back at everyone else. "Are you coming or what?" And then despite herself she grabs the handle, and tries to open it.

Heart successfully opens the door. She sees a staircase leading down to the bottom floor.

"There's nothing here. You got scared for nothing." She calls back at Wormwood. Then she begins descending the stairs at a quick pace, down to the bottom.

"Let's go down! Let's go up! Let's open the foreboding door! Seriously, why do you ponies have such a need to do things? Seriously! I feel like I've got sugar intravenous, but you don't see me rushing into the haunted ghost town!"

The blue pony rolled her eyes, muttering something beneath her breath. She followed after,her hooves ringing on the catwalk, but her eyes looking...every other way. At the fog. At the light. There had to be some sort of reasoning behind them, if only to explain why the mist didn't toll into Equestria, why the light didn't pierce the veil between worlds.

She grinned, following the others, looking to see if the fog curled indoors with them. How curious...

Spoiler:

"Scared? When was I scared?" Wormwood says quizzically. He shrugs and follows Bleeding Heart and The Reini. "Well, Reini, it's better than standing around. We have a mission, might as well get to it... though I confess I am curious about this place."

72 follows them down the stairs.

The Reini's rolz :

Heart sees a door at the bottom.

"Well if you're just gonna lollygag up there, then I'm going ahead without you!" This place wasn't so bad. Just creepy. Just like she always imagined, a place of cold darkness. It couldn't hurt her. She trots up to the next door, opening it.

"Hey, wait up." Wormwood trots after Bleeding Heart.

"Still chasing me?" She accuses, as she slams the door open.

When the door opens heart sees nothing but a brick wall. Suddenly a metal gate dropps down onto the stairs trapping Heart, Wormwood,and 72 at the bottom. The light stops rotating and swivles down now shining in a medium sized circle on the center of the bottom floor. The ground the light shines on steams.

"AAAHH!" Heart lets out a scream and retreats from the walled up door. "What's going on?!"

"Uh..." Wormwood looks around, trying to get a feel for the room - and keeping an eye on where the light is shining.

Heart baked away from the door her rear hoof bairly entering the circle of light. There is a hissing and the smell of burning hoof.  
(1 fatal damage to Bleeding Heart)

Heart cries out and retreats from the light. She calls across it to Wormwood, "Where do we go now?"

72 looks up at the cealing "It looks like the light is coming from that lamp we saw earlier. Hey Cold, The Reini, are you two all right?"

"Well, great," the blue pony muttered. "She ran into another thing to kill herself."

"We're fine," she adds, louder. "I'd say don't move, but I don't know where you could go anyway... Hold on a second."

She looked at Cold, banging against the door frame, curling a blonde lock around her hoof in thought. A moment later, she was approaching the gate, pacing around it carefully.

The Reini notices chans arached to the top of the gate they are tight like it's connected to something.
