Cirque du Celeste [play-by-post, slice of life campaign][FULL]
Have you ever dreamed of joining the circus? Of the glitz, the glamour, the wonder of life on the road, of travelling from town to town to ply your -yes, your- inimitable trade and special talents before stallions and mares of all ages? Haven't you ever dreamed of the fanfare, the cheer? Of standing on the ring when the lights go on, and your the most important thing, the only thing, in the world that matters?
Of course you have. Every pony has! And today, you can get that chance! Sign up to the Cirque du Celeste today, and take your special talents all across Equestria, and maybe even to the eyes of the Princess herself!
A campaign idea that has been bugging me for days. I don't know if I'm ready to attempt running one, but hey, epic fail is as funny as epic win, right?
So, the setting; as the intro above says, it's a circus-themed campaign. Players take the roles of various acts/professions. Personally, I'm more interested in the slice of life/character/plot development aspects, but that isn't to say there won't be any actual conflict; basically, I want to tell a story and a game that's fun for everyone,
Which is pretty much my attitude towards gaming; Rule of Fun trumps Rule of Drama trumps Rules. There will be plot hooks and so on for you to explore, and a general meta-plot, but I want it to be kind of open-ended, to develop plots with everyone who is interested.
Anyone interested?
Played using the current handbook and Skype combat rules. I'm open to characters making use of third-party supplements, such as Sunbeams Criticals.
Players
mjh- Flare the baby dragon
Bronymous- Flashpoint
Quietkal- Risky Chances
Paper Shadow- Viper and Tan Nat
Senshuken-Barkov the Magnificent
Brony 7 of 9 - The Amazing Cavendish
Fury of the Tempest-Karliah the Changeling
Demonu- Tale Spinner
Loud Taffy - Hela Prose
Dream Axis- Upbeat

This does sound like fun. Here's o making an epic win over an epic fail.
Quick question, will we need to have a combat build?

I could be. The last two games I joined stonewalled prior to even starting, so I have characters need using.

I made up my characters now! Meet The Acrobatic Zebra Twins. I'll give you the 15 questions once I've actually done them.

Ahh the circus. The description describes the true allure of the center ring, the intensity and joyment of performing for a crowd...
which is why I decided to play as a roustabout. Here's Flare the baby dragon

So how many times are you going to steal my Twin idea, anyway? I believe that's twice, unless it was someone else who took it last time.

? I've only done one set of twins thus far. And these ones aren't actually even siblings. They're just sort of a "blood brothers" type thing, and they call themselves twins cause they were born on the same day. Then again, that's 15 questions type stuff and I probably shouldn't answer that. Besides, pairacters are fun.

speaking of which, I think you calculated your companion's stats wrong. I've asked around, and when distributed evenly, they should all be 5s, instead of 7s

Wait, that's how it's supposed to work? Crap, that ruins four of my characters.

They should all START at 5, with 8 points to give out. Evenly distributed they will be at 7 each.

Companions only have the Specialist trait to give them stats, as they're not directly players. So they naturally can have 5's across the board, or some equal redistribution thereupon.

Re: Cirque du Celeste [play-by-post, slice of life campaign][FULL]
Well, my worrie about this going ignored seemed to be put to rest; glad to see there is some interest.
Elacular, I wasn't sure if you still want to use the zebracrobats after the companion thing, so I haven't edited them in yet; if you do, let me know and I'll put them in.
For combat builds...well, they've already been made with it in mind, so I suppose that settles that As I say, I'm more interested in character conflict, and plot and seeing what happens... but I know that's not for everyone, and sooner or later a combat round of some description is bound to happen, so...yeah, combat builds. I'm open to you making use of non-official things, like Sunbeams Criticals, but if you do, please provide a link in your post, if for no other reason than to stop me rereading the combat books frantically looking for the moves in question.
For setting, this will be taking place about the end of season 3, but before the beginning of season 4. As part of a travelling circus, you'll be visiting a lot of different locations. The Cirque du Celeste itself is a fairly modest enterprise. It has a grand history, most of which has been relegated to just that- history. It used to be an attraction in high social circles, but it's since been reduced to a common circus circuit.
Currently, the Cirque has two managers; it's ring leader Three Ring, who inherited the majority share from her father, and her 'uncle' Tale Spin, who operates as the circus promoter and agent. There will be other NPCs, covering other acts and general work hands, but I want to leave the jobs open for players to get first choice of before filling them with NPCs.

I would be interested in joining up with this. Just give me a little while to get a character sheet together.

I technically have a sheet already. Flashpoint's Special Talent was already working with Fire, so I can recast him here as a Fire Eater/Fire Juggler/General pyro-ish guy.
I'll review his sheet and post it when I have time later.
