After standing in his spot for quite a reasonably long amount of time, having zoned off at the prospect of either time travel or all this new stuff he saw in the teleporter query thing

A brief image of...some scene or another, like from a movie...maybe a bit more real...dances before everyone's minds for the briefest of moments before scattering like dust motes in the atmosphere, or maybe like the remains of a slurpee on the ground.

This distracting train of thought causes everyone to momentarily distract themselves from the talking machine, where they can see various interesting things. Among those interesting things, Plug, Iggy, Scorch, and Wandering Eye all notice in their own way that the beast at the bottom of the pit hasn't quite woken up, but is tossing and turning in its sleep. It's quite possible that being very quiet is the way to go for the immediate moment.

While this all gone, the machine notably does not answer Scorch's question, but does at least respond to it. "Unfortunately, the proper and truthful answer to your query is classified information to anypony not currently engaged in specified missions. Though it would seem that you have the necessary rank to receive this information, NIHL, proof of rank is required to be presented at this juncture in order to properly identify you." The "NIHL" portion seems to be said by a different voice, much more robotic in nature than the light southern charm of the teleporter's usual voice.

Wandering Eye glanced about him, then whispered, "I think we should wrap this up," and gestured with a hoof down at the dragon below. Turning to the machine, he asked, in a low but audible tone, "How might we reach the other side of this chamber? Also, explain purpose of dragon below."

The carrying capacity is up to three pony-sized beings at one time; any more than that and you'll risk molecular mixing! Please do note that the creature in the pit below is not a "dragon" but what is tentatively called a "Wrathworm". To be frank, it was here when we got here."

Wandering Eye, stopped to consider actually retreating. So far, they had easily triumphed over every obstacle they'd encountered, but they couldn't act as though they were invincible. Besides, the heat was starting to get to him.

"Whether it's forward or backward, I think we need to... get out of... here..."

That wasn't a bad idea, actually. They needed to report this to the Princesses - if they fell here, Equestria might soon follow. Besides... her thaumaturgical breakthrough was too important to die with her.

"While I hesitate to split the Guard up, I see the wisdom in it. I shall escort any who wish back to the surface and report to the Princesses. Hopefully, they will send me back with reinforcements".

"Well, you lot can go home," Scorch tells ~~the cowards~~ those who want to leave as he picks up Guardy McGuard Guard, "Wandering and I are going to do what we do best: Go into dark damp dusty caves, poke around, look at stuff, and do some other archaeology things. That's at least what I get out of the experience."

(Just to make sure, Scorch counts as two pony-sized creatures, right? Don't want to end up with a pony hoof or something...)
