Hayday (A Morally Questionable Campaign) - Backstage (OOC)

Hayday is a campaign based around criminals doing various nefarious activities for a mysterious benefactor who has helped you escape Alcoltraz. Or just doing your own thing. He doesn't seem to mind. Either way, whatever you do, the law isn't too far behind, so you gotta do your thing, and do it good. Think Shadowrun, but with ponies, and not really Shadowrun in the slightest. Here are some rules and general notes...

This is a Play-By-Post Game, with four slots, level one characters, and all legal races, talents, items, and traits allowed. In addition, a good chunk of your combat stuff has to be the stuff from my Combat Expansion, so if you want to join, have a good look at them to see if you can come up with an interesting build...

This is more of a general crime campaign, and not one just for Stealth characters. That means that, while sneaking around and doing everything unnoticed is a possible way to do things, so is kicking down the front door and demanding that all ponies stick their hooves up, or using a silver tounge to persuade your way in, or magic, whatever it is magic actually does. I don't want you to feel that you need to main Stealth if you don't want to, because you don't...

All starting characters should mention in their backstory how they ended up in Alcoltraz. According to Wikipedia, “Alcatraz was designed to hold prisoners who continuously caused trouble at other federal prisons, a 'last resort prison' to hold the worst of the worst criminals who had no hope of rehabilitation.” That means you have a lot of leeway on how much of a troublemaker your character is. You could be a cruel and devious mastermind, a huge brute, or just a constant problematic pony. If you really wanted it, you could have been framed all the way to Alcoltraz, although that would make the rest of the campaign awkward for you...

I can push it to five, and possibly six if demand is high enough, but I'm most comfortable with four, since generally having more players mean a higher chance of someone disappearing and halting the game...

Mmm.... I think I like this campaign idea. Already thinking up how to build a Mad Scientist/Wizard...

Reporting in! My current plan is to make a gold-obsessed crime lord minotaur named Bullion, replete with bright red suit and innumerable gold jewelry. He's enormously strong and appears brutish but it's an act to distract people from his eloquent, cunning nature. He was in Alcoltraz totally legitimately, probably for attempting to rob the Equestrian Gold Reserve or racketeering and attempting to escape countless times, and will attempt to build a gang of minions once he finally does escape.

Ramsus: Oh, you meant Spiderpony literally! Didn't see that coming . I would appreciate that build advice you offered, as I'm not quite sure what to do with his combat talents. Although I was thinking something like multiple weapon talents as "stances" and status-inducing attacks like Hastened Preparations.

Hahaha, yep. (Now all that's left on my current list of crazy races is "Giant Snake".)

I tend to think 5 players is best Paper, that way if someone drops it typically doesn't grind things to a halt as combat becomes iffier. (Also demand is usually pretty high.)

Do you have Skype Retro? Mine is Ramsusofthepants. If not we could chat in your character sheet or something if you link it.

Edit: I just realized one of the ideas I'd had doesn't work because Lightning Reflexes only reduces things down to 1, not 0. *sigh* (Not sure why conjurers are allowed to get their stuff down to 0 but not Reflex/Interrupt based people.)

I'm okay with it, although if in the future it becomes problematic (although I doubt it), I may ask for changes or whatnot...

Wait, Knowledge? Does that mean Arcana as well?

Hmm. On one hand, Yee-Haw. But on the other hand, The Stare. Let me think about this, but keep it anyway for now...

I should note that last I checked Nihil said everything in my Skill Support thread (which that comes from) was basically good for being made official once discussed with the other developers. That was like... a month ago and no word on if they've gotten around to that yet. I think I'd have been told if stuff had been vetoed though.

Here's Bullion in his uncompleted state. Half of his utility talents and everything below that is still from the character I copied his sheet from.

Paper, would it be acceptable for me to swap We're Just Good at This Stuff for Specialist as racial traits? I find myself needing the extra attributes and I can't imagine his Precision being good.

You forgot to set the sharing to allow people to see. And.... awkwardly again I was just going offline for a bit to do something. Should be done in half an hour or so though. *shrug*

Also, on second though, I'd rather keep the extra training and swap Roar of the Minotaur for Cultural Knowledge and Specialist. If that's OK.

You can't take Magecraft without Magical Tricks...

Like I said, I just copied another of my character's sheets and started modifying. I don't actually intend to take either of those talents.

Bullion is now done! He spins around and applies status effects to everyone and is just generally awesome. Also, he can yell at the clouds to make it rain.

I changed the minotaur racials around a lot because it seems like everyone else is too . Give a huge hand to Ramsus for basically designing his combat talents for me! Because I'm bad at it.

Xel, I don't think Paper said for sure he wouldn't do five players.

And yeah, Matthew deserves some credit since he helped me with things. Mostly by calling Blood Pact Dark Bargain and confusing the hell out of me for about a solid minute.

Maybe... But as long as everyone recalls that I got a the first spot for that first opening...

Also Paper might just want to stick with four. Nothing wrong with that.

You I'm not too sure about. I think I can do it though. I've got an idea of what I want to do with players over the initial four player mark, so feel free to make your character...

However, with that, I'll remove the "Open Spot" from the title and update the main post...
