Re: Signup and OOC for SilentBelle's Campaign - An Arctic Advent
You've used 3 teleports so far Ramsus.
Re: Signup and OOC for SilentBelle's Campaign - An Arctic Advent
- The ice race:
- Assuming you are NOT phasing through ice, but through everything else, you're either 1: Not going to speed up at all compared to an unassisted slide, if we assume EVERYTHING is covered in ice. Or 2: You're going at speed of gravity against stone friction for every boulder you phase through, which will be a lot of them.
Speed Skiiers can reach speeds of 200 kmph (~55.5m/s), on an ideal course. This speed will NOT be achieved by your character, who is behind a large number of the others, because 1: It's by people who actively participate in increasing their speed, which you are not. 2: It's on an ideal speed ski course. 3: It is using better-than-skin frictionless suits to reduce wind resistance, and fur is more of a hindrance than latex OR skin. and 4: That speed requires about 400 meters of build-up before it is hit, most of your flight is much slower than that.
Conversely, Glenrir is moving as physically fast as he possibly could. To put that in perspective, a cheetah can run at about 70mph on top sprints. This is, in proper notation, ~31 meters per second, without ANY lead-up time. Glenrir is a magically enhanced wolf, in his home element, enhanced by Nature itself and a magic point, I'd say a 50-roll is more than cheetah-speed worthy for something a story tall bounding downhill. Rocks or ice blocks large enough to stop you (or slow you while phasing through them) are not even foot-pebbles to the larger animal.
- Glenrirs Fragility contains SPOILERS:
Well, not spoilers, really, but spoiler alert regardless:
You were warned. Spoiler alert.
I actually think I'm pretty bang-on on Glenrir here: He grows and shrinks, has a bad-breath-attack, can rip up trees to build more things... The fragility is the only thing missed, but those are Everfree timbers. They trade durability for speed of regrowth. Frozen North Timbers have ice bonding their wood a bit, and use more interlocking joining planes and divots to allow them to fight for dominance in their group as well as to assault other large animals in the north. Unfortunately, it makes them take longer to recreate the interlocking pieces, so repair a bit slower. It was a split evolution for their climates and prey. Or something.

Wow, we have a pack of paranoid ponies from past the palisades perusing the performance, don't we.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure just the wolfy didn't... and we haven't had a reply from either the Dragonling or Adam Smash...

Ah. I am not very observant today. Might be me trying to fix my Non-pony tales/LL campaign.

I'll post some stuff tomorrow after work. I had a long game of Living Legends today, so I didn't have much time.

Sorry guys, I should update this more often. I'll go toss another post up, and maybe we'll some combat soon. (I have a bunch of different projects going on, so if I forget about something don't hesitate to poke me in the future)

Re: Signup and OOC for SilentBelle's Campaign - An Arctic Advent
I think I'll try to do at least one post a day on the IC thread (Unless it's smaller group interactions and dialogue.) That should give people enough time to react to the scenes as they unfold without letting the game come to a halt.
Re: Signup and OOC for SilentBelle's Campaign - An Arctic Advent
Sounds good.
Just noticed: Winnipeg? How's the weather over there this winter? We've been freezing over here, unusual for this spot in Ontario, but the wet winds are just sapping the heat from everything.

Yeah, I was talking to my buddy in Ottawa yesterday, supposedly they broke an 8-year record. Then he's like: 'Damn, it's still colder in Winnipeg.'
It was -46 with the wind chill
Re: Signup and OOC for SilentBelle's Campaign - An Arctic Advent
At least its a dry "if you breathe the air you die", right? I guess we're paying for the fact that it's been 5 or above pretty much since October. Ontario suddenly remembered "Wait, we're in Canada! In winter! This won't do!" and smashed us.
I like it, no allergies. Either way, just curious, what will be the big reveal for this story? I've false-started three times now, expecting everything to blow up.

Well the reveal is happening at the moment, and don't want to spoil it. And don't worry, I'm certain everything will blow up
Re: Signup and OOC for SilentBelle's Campaign - An Arctic Advent
At the very least, I'm sure I'm going to blow up for being warped right on top of the unicorn and trying to tackle the crap out of him. Or possibly get flash-frozen. One.

I was expecting something like this, but not the actual teleporting bit You guys are keeping me on my toes and already have changed the initial plan slightly.
