The show never really had a christmas episode, so until they do, I shall use Heartwarming Holiday as a placeholder for christmas. There's also the Winter Solstice, which takes place on the shortest day of the year, which has a pagan celebration that got turned into christmas as we know it by the church in the 18th century (not exactly, but there's an article on all this on Wikipedia, and I'm not about to copy-paste the entire thing into my post).

Well aware of that. My point is if you're going to reference Heartswarming Eve, your backstory should probably relate more to the Founders than shoehorning Christmas into this.

Eh. Not crazy about it, but its not pinging my "does not fit" alarm, so that backstory should be good. Something that we should clarify and keep in mind, is where she comes from. We're using the Official FiM map of Equestria (google it if you are unfamiliar), and according to that there are no arctic or frozen wastes within Equestria's borders- so places like Bells' home and the Crystal Empire in fact exist outside Equestria. So she'd be from another country.

And then of course THAT opens a whole new can of worms when it comes to things like Hearth's Warming. Hearth's Warming, the way it is presented in the show, would be akin to Thanksgiving or Independence day in that they celebrate the founding of Equestria as a nation. OTHER countries would probably not celebrate it. In fact, it would be reasonable to assume that the cold northern country Bells is from may be the original home of the ponies that migrated and founded Equestria, what with the Windigoes and the blizzards and whatnot. It would also be reasonable to assume that said country would have its own holiday around the same time as Hearth's warming, but unrelated, much more like Christmas.

Copper, your backstory is good for general stuff, but has nothing about the specific situation at hand. I'm going to have you already be in the house, so just be ready with a proper IC explanation of why you're in there. I figured for working temporarily as figure head's assistant, but if you think you can do better, go with that.

Additionally, we are also using the Talent Specialization supplement, which has some cool little additional options for your Utility Talents.

First, my character is currently a bat pony. I figure you don't have too much of a problem with that, since they have appeared in the show and we have a deer in the party, but here's the racials I'm using, just say if you want me to use different ones or even a totally different race...

BTW Copper, not that I'd suggest changing it now, but while Official races had to be the ones in the books, if you had wanted to make up your own race (like a yeti or something) that doesn't exist in the show, then that's what GE would have been for.

Second, how long is a session in the campaign?

Variable. There have been a few "sessions" in the game so far, and mostly it comes down to accomplishing something important. Wherever I think there would be a good stopping point in a real time game. IRL it could be several weeks per session, whereas in game time it'll be a span of a few hours. More importantly, I only make note of that so that players have chances to alter their builds and to level up. X/Session talents I've decided to rule as X/day (mostly, some restrictions apply).

Finally, I think we can take that Player Slot Open message off the thread, so we don't get anyone else and make this tough.

In fact, since we're getting new players in, and the first new entry will be joining in very soon, AND the others have kind of stagnated, again... Let's go ahead and call the session right now. Everyone (Fury) go ahead and make any build changes you need to, no level up quite yet. Play continues as normal.

I changed it already from Hearth's Warming to just general winter holidays on the sheet. I can enter into the game any time, and will work on the ~~other thing~~ talent specialization in the meantime.

Edit: already finished, just cue me when you want me to enter

to help the other joining player decide on what combat talents to take, I did this careful though, I made it so anyone can edit it!

Oh yeah, that. Well it's not that bad. He's not completely blind or anything, visions just a little fuzzy, hard to make out finer details.

When you exit the lab, which way are you going specifically to set about looking for Storm, and/or are you opening any doors you find?

Immediately after exiting the lab I intend to head to the left-hand side, opening doors as I come to them. And stopping, of course, if/when I come across Storm or Kanen.

Then again I could be completely wrong and they're nowhere near that direction.

Literally very about to be. So now, such cue, wow.

I can't tell you precisely when it'll be, because I don't know precisely when the players will do what is required to find you. I imagine, though, that it will be very, very soon, as in probably the next thing that happens. You'll know when you're up, too, because I'll start talking about a pony that sounds suspiciously like your character, and then expect that pony to do something without me directing her.

Two things:
First, I'm having trouble picking a combat build. Most of my initial ideas have been ones which aren't fun for the GM (either being broken or crazy strong) or doesn't fit the character (a detective), so I dunno what direction to take with combat...

Second, I'm planning on taking Flash Teleport, but since I'm not a unicorn, I need a non-magical flavour for it. Anyone got any ideas?

Combat isn't overly prevalent in this game, so don't worry too much about it. At the very least, you can't go wrong with extra damage output. The teleport is going to be a lot trickier, though.

You could always flavor it as moving at speeds faster than the eye can perceive, but then comes the problem of flavoring how you slow down.
