Re: Non Sequitur: The Campaign
"Personally I still say the best way to go is the super-fast and the super-deadly way... It'd be fun. And don't think a group like ours can't take it." Maddie comments.
Re: Non Sequitur: The Campaign
Ghoul follows the guide, but holds the leer on Celestia so intently that he walks into the doorframe while trying to exit. He starts grumbling under his breath and leers slightly harder at Celestia for the following brief moment, before fixing his approach and quickly exiting after the servant.

Re: Non Sequitur: The Campaign
"I wouldn't know... The Island's sense of time makes me awake when I'm awake, and sleep when I sleep... So don't really understand much of what a "morning" is anymore I think... Maybe. That could be a whole be nonsense lie, kinda feels like such..." Maddie said with a shrug. "Do know for the sure the time works weirdly on that island. But maybe just being off of it has made me forget."
Re: Non Sequitur: The Campaign
I must admit, I mostly focused on eating pie for most of the conversation. I scarcely even noticed the Princess walk in (And didn't especially care when I did notice her.) I did manage to comment on one point though.
"Agreed," I said, lifting my face from the pie and wiping it off on my forehoof. "I can't imagine we can't cope with the potential dangers. And the last time I tried a 'Haste' poem it didn't work out too well. We could also consider teleportation; that's even faster and more dangerous, if a little more boring for those not actually performing the ritual in question. It's not like we don't have access to the raw energy." I paused and gave the Princess a sort of evaluating look, as though I was trying to measure her immense power. (I wasn't; I knew full well there'd be enough. I was, in fact, what you might call "checking her out".)

Celestia gives a flat "No. Because I am controlling the moon as well as the sun, not only do I have not nearly enough power to spare for teleporting long distances, or even just 30 feet, I barely have enough brain power left to keep myself completely aware of situations. Why do you think Ghoulish had to practically tell me that he wanted to talk to Androgyny?"

Re: Non Sequitur: The Campaign
I raised an eyebrow at the Princess. "That was a disproportionately defensive response, don't you think? After all, I'm just a simple zebra poet that knows nothing of magic. Who said the requisite energy had to come from you personally? The castle staff alone must number in the thirties or forties, at least. And don't even get me started on the guards. Teleportation requires only a surprisingly minimal amount of shaping; why, if you could organise enough volunteers behind it you could theoretically teleport your whole army there. Or to the moon," I added in. I had wondered how inattentive she really was; if she noticed the subtle little jab she would react.
- ooc:
- Probably not going to try it, but out of sheer curiosity just how high of a check would you want to teleport to the moon?

Maddie facehooves. "You are dumb... So very dumb... Even I can see that statement was a bad move. I mean, I bet the moon is where the Night Princess got sent too."
Re: Non Sequitur: The Campaign
Aaaand the experiment was ruined. I merely shrugged and went back to eating pie.

Runeheart tumbles out of the AFK dimension into the room, A wall stopping his roll shortly afterwards by getting smacked into face first with a resounding "Thud".

Celestia looks at Runeheart with confusion, and perhaps a touch of distant recognition. "This is normal for you?"

"It's actually getting to be kind of fu-!" Runeheart says, suddenly becoming dead silent when he opens his eyes, now widening and becoming almost catlike slits.

"Now, now, Runeheart, I know you got some issues with the White Queen, but she needs us at the moment. So don't freak out." Maddie informs.
Re: Non Sequitur: The Campaign
"Truly, I must study this phenomenon of yours, Runeheart. In the meanwhile, we were just discussing transportation, which will certainly NOT be teleportation," I explained, glaring slightly at the "white queen". Didn't anypony know that Equestria is a principality? Apparently not...

Runeheart just stood up and balefully glared at Celestia, looking like he was just keeping himself from either breaking into tears or ripping Celestia to shreds. Staying eerily silent the entire time.

Re: Non Sequitur: The Campaign
It was getting a bit tense. I glanced back and forth between Runeheart and Celestia; there was clearly something unpleasant between them. I made a mental note to avoid finding out what; it struck me as a rather delicate subject. One I decided to change by breaking the awkward silence.
"...Okay then! I think we are in something vaguely resembling an agreement. Show us the Fast And Dangerous route and we'll be on our way! Hehe..."

((Sorry, I think most a bit of the delay was the full party not being here. My b))
Ghoul tromps back into the room, just as sour if not more so than when he left. He leers somewhat as he notices Runeheart but doesn't say anything specifically about him. "She's not coming. We going or what."

Re: Non Sequitur: The Campaign
Celestia calls for a guard. He enters awkwardly, not sure if he should bow to Celestia or treat her as an ordinary citizen, as she legally is right now. "Could you please show these ponies to the northern gates of the city? Also, could you please show them which supplies you would recommend for traveling through the Everfree Forest? I myself have never been there, and do not know the exact threats." The guard does a half-bow, in a sort of compromise, then goes into the room where Zacharias earlier found such items, and pulls out a crate of strange, colorless but entirely solid orbs, of varying sizes, from small marble to bowling ball. "Though these require a good deal of energy to use, these are the best things you could use on such an adventure, in my experience." The guard then goes back in, returning with a saddlebag for each member of the party. "Take as many as you can comfortably carry, and in as much variation of size as possible."
- Orbs:
- You'll get more info on these later, but for now, you get to know how many each player gets. Your Endurance score determines how many you can carry for an extended period of time, and Athletics determines how many you can carry while, say, jumping over a ravine. There are five size classifications, and the relative number and weight is pretty straightforward. Smallest is 1, and someone with an Endurance score of 10 can carry 10 of these. The largest is 5, and someone with the same score can carry 2 of them. Feel free to mix and match (1 + 2 + 3 + 4 = 10). For Athletics, you double your Athletics score then subtract half your Endurance score, then add half your roll to do whatever it is you're trying to do in the first place. If you want an equation,
r = Roll, a = Athletics, e = Endurance w = Total Weight
(2a) - (a/2) + (r/2) = w

Ghoul abjectly grabs a hoof full before continuing to loathfully stare at...everything really.

- Take a 1, 1, 1, and 2 for a total of 5.

Re: Non Sequitur: The Campaign
The orbs are clearly of a very complex magic, and though Ghoul Does not recognize or understand it (at least to the point that he could replicate it), it was obviously created by some very powerful unicorns. It seems anypony, even non-ponies can use them, though they may be left unable to do other things in return for the energy used. He can also tell that the more powerful the unicorn who made it was, the larger the orb was that resulted. He can also tell that, when used, these orbs can become... anything. Whatever he wishes, though the size of the item produced is determined by the size of the orb.
- EH:
- I was going to tell you later, but might as well tell you now, I guess. To use these orbs, you may use a magic point, expend one use of any X/Day talents, or willingly take a Nat 1 on your next skill check (this does not mean that you fail on using it, it just means you have to fail a check in the near future).
