Non Sequitur: The Campaign

"mmm... Odd Mystory Orbs? Remind me of the Chronospheres form my Island home... Thanks to the odd propties of the flow of time at Impob-Island, Chrono's could suck up full newdays to use when one get's tired to be able to do more things later. It felt weird to use them... Cause you smashed them. Yet you kept an empty non-broken glass orb afterwards of the same sphere you broke. Everypony seems to start off with only two of these such orbs. But somehow you could buy more... I forget how that worked. There was also Super-Chronospheres that gave you extra bonus energy when used." Maddie comments about the orbs as she pokes one with her hoof. "These things work something like that? Or do they do something altogether differently?"

As the guard brought in a large box of what looked like oversized marbles I couldn't help but wonder how I had missed it. Listening intently, I wondered what they could possibly be for...

"So, you're giving us these amazing, probably overengineered orb thingies... but I can't find a sharp, solid knife or a coil of rope that suits me. Figures," I complained as I carefully took two of them out and set them down.

Runeheart stops glaring at Celestia for a few moments to grab a somewhat large orb and try to scan anything about it he can.

It seems these orbs quite literally transform into what you need, though they cannot turn back into the orbs once they are used. Smaller orbs can become things such as small knives and other objects of similar size. Medium orbs can become a cooking pot, a sword, a short rope, etc.. Larger orbs can become things like tents and, if two are used in joint, even a bridge across a large ravine, though this would require at least a worth of 8.

Upon closer examination, and realising what precisely they were, I checked my annoyance a little. "Fascinating. But, as suspected, overengineered. No matter. Now which way is this quick dangerous path you would put us on?"

"It runs almost directly straight north from Canterlot, so you should be able to find your way with just a compass, should something happen to your map." Celestia says, looking at the map.

"Oh it's lovely that the way we're going is easy, and that Stripes here can figure out what these orb things do, but my questions weren't answered." Maddie notes in a slightly annoyed tone of voice, then she asks in her usual chippy mood. "And on another different note, how long should this trip in theory take us? So just in case something timey-wimey happens to deny us or worse..."

"With the route you have decided on, it could take anywhere from an hour to a day, depending on whether or not things have... settled in that area." Celestia gives them a look, as if to say "you are the only ones who I trust to get safely through this area without any side effects that are not already present."

Ghoul looks at the map, mutters a quiet "Yep," and starts to the door, intending on getting on and being done with this as soon as possible. Barring any particular interruption, he starts heading towards the castle exit, not checking to see if the others are going as well.

I looked up innocently. "Map? What map?"

"The one you-"

I brought my fez down before she could finish, smiling widely. "I'll just follow him," I said, trailing the grumpy Earth Pony.

Runeheart grabs a small orb and heads towards the door, holding it out and obviously trying to turn it into something.

What he's trying:

Sugar Rush sees an orb and realizing he hasnt had candy since he woke up decided to eat the orb thinking its a jawbreaker.
"Hey everypony look at what I can do." He said while trying to bite down on the whole jawbreaker.

Runeheart succeeds in making a vial of magic dust, sparkling in all colors of the rainbow. He's not sure what would happen if he dumped them on someone, but it would obviously be magical.

When Sugar Rush bites down on the unchanged orb, it makes a loud, ear-piercing screaming sound, before it explodes into shards. Sugar is dealt 10 damage by this, and everyone else would have been dealt 8 damage if not for Celestia knowing to put up a shield around Sugar the moment she heard the screeching.

Runeheart, hearing the scream and seeing Sugar get hurt, quickly grabs a bit and throws it at him.

((Assuming you mean a bit of the magic dust))

Though it takes the entire vial (it wasn't a very big one), as the magic dust settles over Sugar's body, it immediately is absorbed into him and his wounds are fully healed, leaving not even a drop of blood behind.

I didn't shriek when it blew up.

Okay, maybe it was just a tiny gasp. Totally understandable.

Okay, okay. I screamed like a filly. Is that a crime!?

Everyone was staring. At least I thought they were. "Hehehe... Let's get going."

"Well that was a thing....." Sugar said outloud with a dumbfounded face."Ummm I dont even know how to react to that"

After the explosion, Ghoul calls back to the group, "Let's go alreadyyyyyyyyy! Unless yer all staying behind too, ya wankers."

Meta:

Maddie swipes three larger sized orbs as she follows Ghoul outside. "TO ADVENTURE!"

(OOC: Maddie's orb sizes: 5 + 4 + 4 = 13)

Runeheart grabs a medium sized orb and heads back towards the door.

Orbs.:

Embarrassment out of the way, I double checked the orbs I had, and walked out behind Maddie.

orbs:

The guard looks a touch surprised that everypony is just grabbing their orbs and going, not procrastinating like some would. After a moment, he looks at the few who have yet to grab their orbs and leave, specifically Sugar Rush, as he's the only one left.

Sugar Rush takes an orb in his mouth without breaking it this time, balances on top of another, and holds a third in his hooves following Maddie.

ORBS:

Once everypony leaves the room, the guard follows them out and shows them the way out to the northern gates of Canterlot. "You may wish to wait here for a few minutes before you get on your way, as there may be some more coming to join you on your adventure." With that, the guard returns to the castle to get to some other duties he may or may not have.

"Mmm... Might be getting somepony else to join us on the trip..." Maddie mused. "Well hope they'll be something neat."
