Genetics Expansion is really easy. You've got 6 points with which to buy racial traits. You get a Cutie Mark for free. The traits you can buy are listed by how many points they cost. So just go down the list and start picking traits out until all 6 are spent.

EDIT: In this case not only am I using a nat 20 on initial persuasion check, but I'm substituting a 17 for my arcana check. Its not something that easily cheesable.

No, it'd be absolutely unfair. Arcana checks can be done at will. This would completely outclass all other abilities to gain a CMC, like your normal cutie mark which only applies to one skill, Attack the Day, and so on. It's Witchcraft is already strong enough without it being able to mimic things that aren't even spell-like at all.

I agree with Ramsus on this. A CMC is supposed to be a special thing tied directly to the talent that defines who a pony is. It's not even something the pony in question really has any control over. Having the ability to induce one on something that isn't even your own cutie-mark talent is way too much.

Finished up Gleeda's flavor, for those who are too lazy to look at her character sheet itself here's the flavor of her new racials:

Scent Tracker (2) - At Will
Gleeda has natural gift to use her griffon sense of smell to be able to pick up a person’s scent off of an object they have worn or held. She gains a +15 bonus to tracking that creature, until their trail crosses water, is washed away by rain or encounters any other circumstance that would mask or remove scents.

Sharp Eyes (1)
Gleeda was born with amazing eyesight. Thanks to this mixed with her own training she gains a +3 bonus to perceptions checks to notice physical details. For example, noticing a tiny crack in the wall would gain benefit from this, but things that require mental insight - figuring out if someone is lying, for instance - would not.

Cultural Knowledge (1)
You gain the Freaky Knowledge utility talent.

Thunderborn (1)
Gleeda, thanks to her royal bloodline is immune to any electricity below the voltage level of an adult storm dragon’s breath, including most natural lightning. She can also use her Magical Lightning Bow to fire off small bolts of electricity at will. These bolts are identical to regular lightning in many respects and, outside of combat, are capable of the sort of things that lightning can normally do.

As far as the Cutie-Mark Crit simulation goes, I thought about it for a bit, and here are my thoughts on the matter...

First off, I don't mind Cardbo making two or more checks and combining them to work as a sort of skill check challenge. At first, this might sound unfair, but the more dice you roll, the more likely it is that you'll fail miserably somewhere along the line, thus potentially botching the entire string of rolls.

Secondly, I was planning to allow Cardbo to get the effects of a Cutie-Mark Crit since I could see him potentially using his Arcana to enhance Coffee's kiss - possibly by increasing the... sensuousness? Of the kiss - or by making it more elemental (shockingly explosive perhaps?). Also, following up on that vein of thought, if Cardbo had chosen to use a 17 result on the Persuasion Check and a 20 on the Arcana Check, it would have resulted in a Cutie-Mark Crit anyway - or if he'd thought about it, he probably could have just used It's Witchcraft to make his check from the start (thus just using Arcana - instead of Persuasion followed by Arcana).

I don't know though. If you guys still feel it's unfair to get a CMC in this situation, let me know. We can still just go with a base crit effect.

I talked with Ramsus over Skype and he brought up some good points. The main issue is that you can't Aid yourself, and even an Aid check only gives a +2 bonus. It doesn't make a normal Crit into a Cutie-Mark Crit.

I wasn't thinking about Aid checks when I originally typed up this post. I was thinking more along the lines of skill challenges (and also the fact that I would have let Cardbo use Arcana instead of Persuasion on the base check to begin with if he'd asked).

-So here's what I think I'm gonna do.

Cardbo, you can't use a secondary check to make a crit into a CMC.

However, I will allow you to say you used Arcana on your base check instead of Persuasion - IF you can come up with a detailed description of how Coffee Mug is using his magic to enhance this kiss using It's Witchcraft. All you did in your original post is say you were going to enhance the kiss with magic - but how are you going to enhance it?

This is a Role-PLay Game. Let's see some imagination here.

Also, if you can describe - in detail - a way to use your magic for kissing, then I'll count your kissing check as a CMC, but that CMC is going to unlock a special skill challenge, not an instant success (as the success you're looking for is going to be pretty challenging to get - if you haven't realized yet, you're basically trying to get Force to go against her own nature). Your second roll of the skill challenge will be counted as a 3+Arcana unless you use your Racial ability to switch the 3 for a 17.

I want you to make three more rolls. Five rolls total.

Each roll can be an Arcana check.

Edit your latest post with the results and we'll see what happens from there.

I edited my post. Only the persuasion check with the natural 20 is there.

I don't even mind if Captain Force refuses my promise. My(and Coffee's) reasoning is that Captain Force seems like someone who despite being a bully, enjoys and respects ponies that challenge her. If the Pinkie Promise succeeds, I suspect she'd eventually be even more turned on, becuase of how completely outfoxed she was. (Of course, she might be pissed off in the short term). If the Pinkie Pie fails, I'll have at least matched her, if not exactly, fairly closely.

The point has always been to impress Captain Force. Not necessarily to get her into a Pinkie Promise, though that would be nice.

You must understand, the crit on the kiss was to get her to agree to the Pinkie Promise. Without it, well she doesn't seem like the type to take 'No' for an answer. I could have Coffee say 'No', but after that kiss it would seem like Coffee was just jerking her around.

I'm a fan of games like Rune Factory or Harvest Moon, and even the "bad" girls get some character developement and usually wind up more morally ambiguous. I was hoping for something like that here.
