The Overseer's Challenge IC
You all gain consciousness in a room. A smallish room with one particularly noticeable feature: a portcullis, which has you trapped quite nicely in this room. A voice pops up, coming from the general direction of up, and it's a purple voice.
"Ah, you are all awake I see. My new experiments! I do hope you will not be as embarrassing as the last bunch. I've learned my mistake, this time I searched beyond the realms of the current equestria and brought in some technologically superior party members so you won't all just collapse into a puddle of your own incompetence. Do be nice to each other.
"Oh, and before I forget... I've installed a certain fail-safe that will make you go 'boom!' should you leave the vicinity of my laboratory. Just think of it as 'extra incentive' to jump through these flaming hoops I've prepared."
A flashing red light starts blinking repeatedly and airhorns sound, along with some steam sounds. The portcullis begins to raise.
"On your hooves, that is if you want to stay alive! Try not to waste any more of my time, you've already done that by sleeping so long."
On the other side of the portcullis is a large laboratory and you see some glowing portals appear, 8 of them in fact. And in the next moment, you see some pony-esque creatures that have been misshapen. Two of them are tall and lean ponies and the other six look like pegasi foal, but none of these creature have fur, just tight reddish skin. There also appears to be some acidic fumes billowing from the taller ones.
"Ah, my demonic creations, what a perfect warm-up for you all! You know warm, 'cause of all the acid they are going to burn you up with. Have fun, and try not to die! Remember it takes minutes of my valuable time to find suitable replacements for you!"
With that, the voice disappears and the portcullis finishes opening with a distinctive clang, and the daemons begin charging toward you from across the room. (Initiative!)

Head still spinning, no help from the flashing lights and alien sounds around him, Hussar stood up, finding himself among a strange group of ponies (if they could all be called that...) and a ballista. He listened to the announcement, still trying to figure out what happened to him. Luckily, whatever he had been doing before, he happened to be wearing his armor and wielding his trusty lance.
He shouted to the group of other captives who were apparently to be his allies."Alright stallions? mares? inanimate objects? Form a line! Brace yourselves!"He turned, raising his lance to face the horrors that were rushing towards them.

Blitzkrieg got to his feet. He was a bit confused regarding his sudden change of surroundings and his new "compatriots". A failsafe to keep them from leaving? What madpony would kidnap others for tests?
He then saw the daemons charging toward them. This simplified things considerably. "A Battlemage is always ready for a fight! To arms, men!"

Proto overcharges it's bolt and fires at the "B1" target... getting a superlucky shot of damage that then explodes with a good deal of damage at impact.

"Hussah!" exclaimed Hussar as the ballista's bolt exploded spectacularly among the demons, as he was inspired to charge forward into the center of the blast where the enemy had been scattered, hoping his flashy uniform would distract whatever foes survived the explosion from his ally they had been ganging up against.

- Did I do the saving roll thing right? It seems wierd to make a save against a condition I imposed on myself the turn I get it, but you make a saving roll at the end of your turn, right?
Unrelated note, I was wondering who would be able and willing to spend 1 pip for (Wave of Zeal) next turn (of course depending on the situation)- didn't use it this time because we didn't all have pips to spend (a small cost for Proto's spectacular roll) and it might not be neccesary.

Proto Launches a rain of exploding balista bolts. Managing to skewer 3 of the flying daemon ponies. During the blast of attacks a few strands of acid from the skinny daemons launch out reflexively, lathering Proto in acid.
(OOC: Yep you did the saving-throws right.)

Blitzkrieg tried to contemplate the battle so far. These demons seemed to have focused most of their firepower on the robot, while leaving the flashy Earth Pony and himself alone. The ballista's massive assault managed to knock a few of them down outright. Blitz had noticed that the monsters tended to attack "reactively", targeting only the...entities that attacked them first.
"Let's see if they'll stay off me for a little while longer if I don't attack first." Blitz went into a defensive stance and tried to concentrate. Hopefully this plan would bear fruit, and then he could call down the thunder.

The first slender daemon, bleeds a little bit, and sprays acid on it's own spike-like hoof and strikes home at maretoko as it had planned. As it finishes the strike, you notice it's bleeding wound cauterized.

Hussar sees the demons move on to their next target, who was already looking in pretty bad shape from their onslaught. He let out a yell. "CHARGE!!!" and ran forward, barreling into the remaining demons in a desperate attempt to rescue his new companions.

Blitz looked around. "Damnable coward. He should have stayed with the fight, not force us to wait and watch our comrade suffer." He sighed, then sent forth a great burst of magic from his horn a few feet above him. The magic seemed to consolidate until it formed a large hammer with lightning shooting off from it. The hammer slowly lowered until Blitz grabbed it with one of his hooves. "Show your face, hellspawn! Your defeat is inevitable!" Blitz vainly tried to pound the ground where the remaining slender demon was last seen, but he feared that all he would accomplish was forming a lightning shield should the beast try to strike back.

Maretoko would have been knocked out, but a little bit of the acid ended up on her shield. Realizing how close to death she came, she continues her mad pushing of buttons, this time greeted by a voice saying "triage system activated.". Sending a multicolored beam at herself and PACU.
