More like "you're wearing a full-body demon suit, and it's pissed with everything". How did you picture him/it?Bronymous wrote:Zarhon wrote:He casts it immediately, causing a visible change in Horizon. A ghost-like entity, black as smoke, can be seen 'covering' his body, mimicking his bodily and facial features, as well as vilifying them with additions such as monstrous fangs, burning eyes, protruding 'spikes', and an extra pair of arms, coming out the sides of the chest. The entity's 'face' is showing a mixture of mad rage and agony.
Sort of like this?
Not quite what I pictured him to look like, but ok.
Typo, I assume?Horizon dies nothing but watch
Also, googling that spoilered part keeps giving me WoW Dinomancers instead.
And sorry, no Unikitty powers for Jeralia just yet.

Re: Zilean's Revenge - OOC
I didn't picture the demon having spikes and four arms, I mean. I got the demonsuit imagery.
Yes typo. For now anyway.
I've never played WoW, but I can guess what a Dinomancer is, and its not that. Googling Deimomancy would be the same as Googling Armada of the Red Crescent, The Four Talons, or anything else I made up.
I can give you a brief history lesson on deimomancy, if you'd like.

Kay. What is it, what does it do, and how'd Horizon get picked for it?
Edit: Is Jeraylia planning on doing anything other than the roll? You're not helpless (yet).

Re: Zilean's Revenge - OOC
Also you've completely derailed from how I imagined the situation would be solved, too. But again, my fault for making it up but not giving you details.
Anyway-
Anyway-
- Deimomancy:
Deimos= "terror"
Deimomancy, like necromancy or pyromancy, is a category or school of magic that focuses on a particular medium or source of power. In this case, that source and medium is terror, or simply fear. The deimomancer has the power to manipulate and extort the fear of his victim, turning it into a weapon. Any fear can be used- fear for one's life, phobias, even nightmares and traumatic memories. Once a fear is chosen, the ways it can be used are limited only by the Deimomancer's imagination. Anything from conjuring hallucinatory recreations, to translating terror into physical pain, to bounding that fear into a physical weapon that is extra deadly to the victim.
Deimomancers can also convert the power of fear into magical energy, fueling spells of all types- and can use any fear to do so, including their own. The larger a group of people- say, a terrified mob, or even village- the more powerful the caster's magic becomes.
The drawback to this type of magic, like necromancy, is the long term negative effects- varying degrees of psychosis, odd obsessions, and eccentric experiments to gain more power are common, though this can be said for most wizardly types.
Deimomancy was first founded as class of magic by a would-be Necromancer named Ayla the Rorsharc. She discovered how to use fear as a weapon and source of power, and began teaching it in a school in the wilderness. The school became known as Deimos, and amounted to a Witch's coven, as mostly female sorcerers ever came to learn there. One such witch, Roslyn of Deimos, is historically known as the first to attempt to introduce Deimomancy as a legitimate school of magic in civilized society. Like necromancy, it was ultimately seen as dark and evil, condemned by the various Holy Orders. Still, teachers find a way to teach, and while not as nefarious as necromancers, deimomancers have been able to practice and spread their craft in secret.
This is not to say that that is the only way to become one, however. Those attuned to the right Powers That Be may be taught, or stumble upon it. In this case, Horizon's repressed and latent magical abilities combined with the retained scars of being possessed by a Demon of Fear. While by no means an expert Deimomancer-or magic user of any kind- Horizon does now have the capability and knowledge required to become so, and he will find that the practical use of it in combat comes much easier to him than he would have guessed.

Re: Zilean's Revenge - OOC
Thought I should ask about my "Magic Sword", Zarhon. Wondering where it sits as an rp item these days. Originally, it started off as a fire sword, but once we swapped over to LL, I've kind of been using it as a semi-holy implement (cutting/dispersing/rebounding evil/necromantic energies and such). So, I was hoping to ask whether I could consider it a sanctified weapon or not. I did find it in a cave. But it could have been a religous cave, like a holy tomb or something . Alternatively, it could just be a normal sword that I swing around very flashily.
Also, sorry for cracking you right in the face, Bronymous XD. Thought I might be filled with holy aura. Or was I, but that didn't affect it? :\ Though the chanting did song and chanting did have an effect. Still, that could just be it recoiling from the lack of fear it was expecting me to show. So mystery, such question.
Edit: Weird deja vu, but I'm questioning whether I might have asked this question before, and just totally forgot? I don't think I did, but maybe?

Well I AM sort of choking you out right now But it's fair- I get another bruise, and the Bard's voice is permanently damaged. You should feel bad, you jerk.

Re: Zilean's Revenge - OOC
Any chance I could try and counter being moved? Seems like it could be an opposed strength check, since I wouldn't just let it happen. Unless your saying it's just overwhelmingly powerful.

Normally, you could, but you did roll a nat1 on endurance... You'd probably be occupied with preventing your windpipe being crushed. Plus, you probably can't see Zthulan if you're facing Horizon/demon.

Yes, I'm sure he'll appreciate that you went for the collapsed lung and sucking chest wound instead of the kill shot.Azarune wrote:Welp at the best I'll just miss, at the worse I'll stab the left pectoral and puncture his heart

Healing those would be probably leagues easier than a punctured heart.

Re: Zilean's Revenge - OOC
Zarhon, would I be able to try "pulling" the demon's essence a bit towards Zthulan's strike so it would hit the demon first (assuming the kukris is a weapon that can actively harm it)?

And if Lynt can do that, can I use persuasion to help Horizon force the demon from him body (as in pull and pushing in tandem)?

Hmmm. I'm gonna say you can roll an arcana to 'grab' the demon for such a purpose. Alternately, you can do it 'in reverse' (pulling Horizon 'through' the demon), though it's harder from your previous spell.
Persuasion for Jeraylia can work too, just remember the penalty.

As you were, everything is clarified. Horizon has nothing to add at this point, but everyone else can be all hero-y.

Re: Zilean's Revenge - OOC
Go for another attack with the Kukri, maybe, Az? Since the ghoul is vulnerable, more importantly, not inside Horizon's body. Unless Bronymous is going to do something more. Like take the kukri into his own hands.

Well if Horizon is still awake Zthulan will allow him to deliver the killing blow to the demon.

Re: Zilean's Revenge - OOC
Afraid I can't just let Zthulan take an extended rest (time-skip of 6-8 hours time) without the others doing so first, as well (in case someone chooses to go someplace else, etc). Anyone planning doing things, or are you all gonna rest?
For reference, the time is roughly 2-3 am in the night for you peeps. You spent about 1-2 hours doing stuff on your 'mission'.

We could probably afford a rest here. Horizon was just gonna chill by the fire and/or nap anyway.

That would depend on how long the operation would also take. Cause heading back to base to rest would probably be a more enjoyable nap time.
