Bells barely manages not to look at her side, keeping her eyes locked on the doctor. Calming herself down forcibly, she decides to ask about a word she doesn't recognize. "Complication?"

"Yes, but don't worry, it's under control..." Behind him you see the nurse from before enter the room in a rush, carrying what looks like a bucket and some towels. She moves down toward your hooves, out of sight, but there is another sudden twinge of pain and rush of nausea when you feel something being pressed against the sight. Then it is removed, and the Heat in the area intensifies greatly. "Do you got it?" The doctor asks, agitated and clearly worried. Whoever he's talking to doesn't give a verbal reply.

"It's... is it ok?" He asks again, and again no verbal answer. "It's going to be fine. I'll explain it to you later once it's over." Again, pressure on the spot, and then the heat is back. The doctor watches for a moment, recognizes something, and then looks back at you. "OK, I need you look right at me. This might hurt a little bit, but just focus on me and-" Whatever he says next is drowned out by a feeling of blinding pain. It feels like someone just impaled you with a hot brand, all the way to your core.

Endurance: 22

The pain is powerful, and the nausea hits you like a truck again, but you manage not to pass out. Your wail is cut off by your sudden vomiting. After you throw up, the pain continues, slightly weaker, but you are still awake and coherent.

"It's all right," the surgeon responds to you, clearly not at all bothered by the vomit now staining part of his coat. "It's fine now... right?" He asks one more time, and this time the nonverbal response must be more to his liking, as he visibly relaxes. "Yeah, it's fine now... I'm going to let you rest a bit now," he says, and even as he speaks you feel the pain start to dwindle, the heat fading. "When you wake up I'll answer all your questions." He looks up at the nurse. "What about the other anesthetic?" "I got it," she answers, and a sharp prick and a soothing numbness in your side is the last thing you feel. "You just rest now, you'll need it." He says, and then moves around, cleaning up. The nurse walks by, along with another pony, a unicorn, you hadn't seen before. The Unicorn leaves the room, shaking his head, while the nurse holds the bucket with a grim expression. You feel tired, and after a bit you fall asleep again.

She nods, and stands by the door to allow you to inspect it. She doesn't leave though, clearly expecting to lead you somewhere else.

Bells:
You awake another indeterminate amount of time later. You are much more lucid than before, vision clear, nausea and pain all but gone. It appears that you have been made private quarters- you're pretty sure you're in the same room, but curtains have been hung up around you, obscuring you from passersby. You can tell there isn't anyone else in the room right now.

Bells moves around a little, trying to decide if she can get up without tearing any stitches or anything like that, or generally without too much pain.

Pushing aside the curtains, you find that you're still in the same room. The other stallion seems to have left, or was moved for privacy's sake. You're heading toward the door when you hear hushed voices outside. "...because someone has to tell her!" "Yeah, and that someone is you. You're the doctor, the operating surgeon." "I'm a Guard physician, I don't do this kind of stuff." "You're a medical professional one way or the other, suck it up and go tell her what happened. She can't just not be told."

Both ponies, the doctor and the unicorn from before, nearly jump at the surprise. The Unicorn says nothing, while the doctor hesitates and then ushers you back in the room. "Miss, you really shouldn't be walking around just yet, you need to lie back down." He walks you over to the bed, and then pulls a stool over. "Please take a seat, I need to tell you something..." He rubs the back of his neck nervously, looking anywhere but right at you.

The doctor lets out a deep sigh, and then finally looks at you. "Miss, you didn't mention it before..." He hesitates for a long time, before finally asking. "Miss Bells, did you know you were pregnant?"

You lean in and listen to what the voices are discussing. You are able to hear them remarkably well, no doubt due to your particular ears. "The fact is, your protocol is making it impossible for us to do your job!" "And like I said, Inspector, your job right now is to support us. We are dealing with a crisis and your small town crimes can go unsolved for a day more while we clean up this mess." "There was a MURDER two days ago, we haven't found the killer yet!" "I heard, and I heard it was a bar brawl. Just punks getting too rowdy." "EXACTLY! This town isn't free from dangerous criminals, there are thugs walking the streets. Right now as long as you're tying us up helping deal with the outbreak, they're free to do what they please and get away with it!" "And if we let you scurry about trying to round them up this disease could get loose, and the whole town could go down. In two days time this problem will be solved and the criminals can be rounded up."

The conversation continues like this for a fair amount of time, so you can interrupt or leave, or keep listening.

The first thing you notice is that the room is rather cold. There's a window facing a small fenced in yard, which may be the cause. There is also a fair amount of dust. Obviously this room isn't used often, IF Quick Fix ever has guests at all. The bedspread is nice, though, with three soft looking pillows, and a painting, or something like that, hanging above it, a modern art "masterpiece" probably. There is an unfurnished desk and empty bookshelf, and a door that opens into a small walk-in closet. Once you've finished looking around, looking back your see Juniper is still standing by, seemingly vacant as she stares at a spot on the wall across from her.

All you see is a blank wall. She doesn't seem very focused, just very still and spaced out. Maybe she's high. When you speak to her, she lazily looks at you, then nods and begins walking down the hall, opposite the way you came from.

That guy was a prick. Still, as far as Dodger could tell, he was a momentary distraction at best. Heading for his tools of the trade (and his "work uniform"), he set about packing them up in a saddlebag (folding the work uniform up neatly) and heading out of the outskirts. Clearly this place wasn't going to be of much help to Dr. Storm.
