Re: The League [OOC]
Yeah, but you can a post heading that direction. Ash is already there and Yuri bolted. Without a post, I didn't know how close behind Iron Maiden would have been following. With your initiative being 8, I'm contemplating letting you in this turn but I need to think about it and I need to see the other rolls.

Re: The League [OOC]
And I... will just hang out, I guess. I could see that being a primary role for Phoenix, what with him being regarded (though I still don't quite understand for what reason) as a Psycho, or otherwise unstable- Second line kind of deal, he locks down a perimeter and if anyone manages to slip the rest of the team, he'll be waiting for them.
Not my original idea for him, nor should it be that way every time, but I think it works for right now.

Hey, not everyone thinks he's a psycho. Just Ash. And I think it has to do with the big argument you guys just had. Yes. That's it.

Ash is quick to judge and excessively cynical about other people's motivations.

Re: The League [OOC]
So, just to be clear, it's Ash's turn, right?
(One of the Advantages of Wanderlust initiative, no fussing about whose turn it is. Just your turn or theirs)

Yep, Ash's turn.
I need to re-read but to my understanding the WL initiative is one of a few listed suggestions for turn order. Still, I want to see how it goes since both have advantages.

Re: The League [OOC]
I should note that a creature can only be challenged by one person at a time, so I'm no longer challenging Wall.
We'll see how things work through this battle, but I might change my feature afterwards if we keep stepping on each other's toes.
Also, Wall is the sleazy one of moderate intelligence. Hammer is the one Yuri is wrestling with. So I think you may have targeted the wrong one.
On the plus side, Grapple stacks with challenges. So as long as Hammer has to attack me, keep challenging him. We'll pull some combos, maybe a fastball special.

Glad I'm not in that mess of a combat. Let's work out the kinks by the time I have to fight, k?

Re: The League [OOC]
Phoenix doesn't have to worry about any of that. He just blows stuff up and kicks people in the face.

Re: The League [OOC]
Actually he rarely kicks. His fighting style focuses primarily on contemporary or improvised weapons, or hand-focused unarmed fighting.
He also only blows things up when he has access to his exploding knives (which I'm certain he doesn't right now), or if there's gas nearby. He just makes fire happen.

Nope, just the Weakness from Ash. So I believe this may wind up doing no damage then.mjh6 wrote:HP: 95( I assume you were factoring in IM's armor there

Re: The League [OOC]
It's pretty good, but only applies to Single target attacks. AoE can still get through.
Hey, while you're here, do you think you could describe how your build works?

Re: The League [OOC]
It's a bit strange to describe because there are no really exclusive combo strings to the build: It's an Onion Knight build, if you play Dissidia: Each of the moves chains into each of the other moves just fine.
It's a balanced build that can do 2 and two half things: Control, tank, damage, heal.
It focuses on forcing people to attack me, and with the bulk from Armor 10 and the JJ special, I have more than enough time to build up to the Rage Spirit or just whack people (If I wanted to, I could just spam Wither Blade+Arrow over and over, and try to outlast someone). I can also heal people, as needed, but not in excessive amounts. It's a little awkward in that respect because our actual healer disappeared on us, so I might want to tinker with the build a little to make up for that.
The biggest benefit of the build is the flexibility: I have 1 energy right now, and I could do absolutely any of the things listed above next turn. It's a very consistent build that just piles up damage over time. The primary flaw is that I can only really do one thing per turn, and I don't have big reactions. Put another way, I can react to any situation, but if the situation needs a big response (or if, say, I have to choose between KO'ing a weakened enemy and healing an ally), I'm probably going to come up short.
So in a slugfest like this, I'm golden. =) But when Staticaster gets the bank vault open and starts creating localized nuclear explosions...I may have more trouble. =( We'll see how it works.

Re: The League [OOC]
Wow. That's interesting. i never really thought of building like that. I tend to stick to the genera "Couple of +PiP moves, one big -, and a few in between for when going for the big one isn't practical."
My build was a bit tricky to do, but I thought a knight/bezerker cross worked for IM. Still trying to decide which I'm gonna focus on once we level up...

Re: The League [OOC]
It was not a particularly enjoyable setup in Pony Tales, but for some reason it works better in Wanderlust. I think it's because there are more entertaining tank moves, and because Challenge is such a low-cost tactic, so most of the aggro-attractive moves have very low energy costs.
Note that Living Lightning in The Final Prize also has no talent that costs more than [-2]. I'm rather enjoying my sustain builds.
I'm very interested to see what you do with Bloody Rage. It's one of the coolest moves in the game, for me, but it's also obnoxiously hard to use.

Re: The League [OOC]
I think it's a side effect of +energy moves doing more in WL than in LL so consistent damage doesn't require passive energy gain. And as already said, it does have the tradeoff of not being able to do big moves in emergencies.

You're one of very few people praising the Tanking options in Wanderlust, since there are actually very few options compared to Pony Tales, and what is there is focused entirely on active aggro instead of reactive/interruptive damage reduction.
I didn't know our healer was gone. Phoenix being what he is, I think I can shuffle a healing talent his way and help him bear the burden- unless he ends up playing backup to every fight, like this one.

I really like some of the new stuff we gained but I do have issue with some of the stuff lost. There's an overall system simplification and I'm looking to see how it pans out.

I'm intrigued that Phoenix didn't do a Perception roll...

Re: The League [OOC]
I didn't realize there was anything there to perceive. You should point out when passive skill checks need to be made, because he's not actively looking for anything at the moment.
7+7=14, I doubt I saw anything anyway.
EDIT: Dammit I just realized this fight was basically tailor made for Phoenix's combat build. Oh well.
EDIT2: According to my combat build flavoring, Phoenix does in fact have access to his exploding throwing knives.
EDIT3: Apparently I've never even seen my sheet before. Phoenix also already has a minor healing move.
