Sometimes you can go in blind with these but I'm setting this to Dexterity DC 15 as a one off. Succeed and it opens. Fail and it's jammed in a way that will either cause a -5 penalty on the next lockpick attempt and/or require it to be forced open.

What's a hero point?

The equivalent of a magic point in Wanderlust.

I'm reasonably confident I haven't used any hero points, mostly because I'm not entirely sure what they are.

Some Abilities will say “Heroic” in the Uses line. Heroic Abilities are extraordinary effects that go above and beyond the power of abilities with similar costs. Each character can only use one Heroic Ability between each Extended Rest. This means that once you use a Heroic Ability, you cannot use any further Heroic Abilities - whether they are the same ability or not - until you have taken a full Extended Rest.

Each character automatically gains the Heroic Action ability upon character creation.

Heroic Action - Heroic
Time: Instantaneous
Trigger - You or a creature you can see makes a skill check and you dislike the result.
Effect - That creature gains a +10 bonus to the triggering check.

A good example of using Heroic action is Yuri dodging Staticaster's lightning.

Hm. Yeah, I could do that. I mean, on the one hand, if I get the -5 penalty there's a 50/50 chance I'll get it open on the next roll, and I'll still be able to spend the point to guarantee it if my luck stays bad; on the other hand, if the lock breaks entirely I only have 6 points in Might so that'll probably be a much harder roll. Plus there's stuff going down and it might help if I resolve this sooner rather than later.

Eh, I'll spend the point. It's probably not the most optimal use but if I sit on it waiting for a time when I really need it I'm just gonna end up finishing out the scenario without spending it at all.

I figured "I don't have any rope" works better as a joke than an actual obstacle to gameplay so I took the liberty of just kind of dropping some in for myself. Of course, if the GM would rather make me work for it I can walk that back.

Where is Staticaster's ship relative to the bank, and what direction is it headed? Is it over the next roof, or considerably farther? Is it threatening to flatten us, or moving away to crash into some landmark, or what?
