As Whisper draws even closer to the stars, she flies straight into the spectral red beam of one of them. It's soooooooooo bright and soooooooooo hot - Whisper has to pull up out of the beam before she goes blind and burns up. She then continues to fly past said star, and as she does so, the sock white pony notices the entire star goes black - or so she initially thinks.

For Ramsus:

As for Coffee Mug, as he inspects all the Concert Bubbles (from a distance I assume), he can tell that they're all bubbles the size of stadiums - except for bubbles 1 and 4.Coffee can't tell what number four is, and as for number one? It isn't a bubble at all. Coffee's certain that it's a giant disco ball with real-working lights and sounds - batteries not included...

-Then again, that doesn't sound right.

But as for the other bubbles, there look to be tons of revelers in each. Coffee can't tell from here who the main attraction of each concert is, but it looks like each bubble is host to a different concert. They're not all duplicates of the same scene.

Chitin makes out the same things Coffee does, only she can tell that bubbles 1 and 4 are actually just more stadium-sized concert bubbles like the rest.

'Is that first up there a disco ball?' Coffee points at it and blinks a couple of times to make sure he's not imagining it, Privately, Coffee mentions his observations to Libram and Codex.

As Whisper fiddles with the dial on the back of the star, she notices that as she turns it to the left, the star - as well as all the other shades of red stars throughout the dreamspace - start to dim and die out. As she turns the dial to the right however - the red stars all glow brighter and brighter. While the stars glow brighter, their beams shine farther and farther out into space...

While Whisper plays with the stars, Coffee leads the way, flying through space to the first concert bubble on his little wings - Gleeda, Chitin, and Buck follow along behind him, also spreading their wings and soaring through the cosmic void. Coffee's animate book buddies keep pace alongside all of you as well, Codex still glowing green as more and more script continues to materialize across his pages.

As you all near the concert bubble however, Coffee quickly realizes he must have been mistaken. There are lots of lights flashing around inside the concert bubble - but it's not actually a disco ball...

-Be that as it may, as you stop at the edge of the concert bubble, you can now clearly see faint trails of red energy radiating outward from it in all directions. Peering into the bubble, you can also make out the details of the concert itself. The event appears to be taking place at night in a large, open-air ampitheater.

A band of horses stand on stage - and though none of you can hear them with your protective ear-ware on - they appear to be rocking out hardcore, singing into their mics, strumming guitars, beating drums - completely drenched in sweat before the crowd and stage lights. Posters plastered up all along the side of the stage read:

PERFORMING AT THE PONY BOWL

TONIGHT!

Before you can decide what to do next, your attention is drawn to the stars out in the sky. Clusters of them suddenly burn a bright red - beams streaking out from the stars as they all converge on your position. You have little time to react before the red beams are upon you - but instead of turning your party into blackened pony meat, southern-fried griffon, and charbroiled changeling - the beams zip straight past (and possibly straight through) you, hitting the 1st of the concert bubbles from every angle. There's a blinding flash of crimson light, and when the light fades, an aura of red energy encircles the bubble - the beams connecting it to the stars.

Despite the blinding spots, Coffee dives into the bubble, or where he thinks is the bubble, because if its big enough to hold a stage and audience, there probably isn't much chance he'll miss it.

At the flash of red light Buck had turned his one good eye away in time, gritting his lion's teeth in frustration but remaining unfazed, and as Gleeda and Coffee Mug dove into the concert bubble - now glowing bright with an aura of red energy - Chitin followed their lead and Buck followed Chitin's - with Libram and Codex following after everypony else.

You all feel a cool sensation for a moment as you pass through the bubble's outer layer - and then, even through your ear-muffins, you hear the distinct ringing of a bell from somewhere off in the distance...

Meanwhile, as Whisper flies over to the next star - a violet one this time - sure enough, you find another dial just like on the last star. As you begin to adjust the new dial like the last, you pause a moment - hearing a bell ring somewhere off in the distance. Looking around, nothing seems to have changed - so you go back to adjusting the dial. The new star reacts just like the first, and as Whisper turns the dial to the right more and more - your violet star and all the others in the sky begin to glow brighter and brighter. While the stars glow brighter, their beams shine farther and farther out into space, all converging onto another of the concert bubbles.

There's another bright flash of light in the distance, and when flash dissipates, a new concert bubble glows with a visible aura of colored energy - only this time it's violet...

The next thing that Coffee Mug, Gleeda, Chitin, and Buck know, they're standing in the audience of what appears to be the CRAZYHORSE concert that you saw from outside the bubble - though red spots continue to dance in Coffee's and Chitin's eyes, even they can make out that much. It's standing room only as far as you can tell, and Libram and Codex flap about overhead as ponies look to be clopping wildly all around - yelling, cheering, and screaming at the band performing on stage, the herd pumping hooves in the air and banging their heads - looking to be having a generally great time all around.

-That's why one little colt attracts your attention - or at least Gleeda's attention (the rest of you can notice on a DC 15 Perception Check - 10 for being blinded). He attracts Gleeda's attention simply because he seems to be the only one not having fun. Unlike the other ponies that all look happy and excited - this particular colt looks upset and nervous, glancing all around uncertainly, frowning and looking close to tears as he stares up into the faces of all the other ponies around him - none of which seem to have noticed him yet.

Coffee blinks his eyes rapidly, trying to clear them. When that fails, he pulls out a couple of bottles of eyedrops and attempts to enchant them.

Whisper goes around doing the same thing with the dials for every other color star she can find. Including octarine and stars the emit colors beyond her normal visual range.

Chitin hated crowds, they were only good for hiding or making yourself feel like a sardine. Putting on her sunglasses to ward off any more rogue flashes of light she opens her wings and flies back out of the annoying crowd to find Whisper back in the relative and unusual comfort of the cold, mostly empty vacuum of space. Had she mentioned she hated crowds? "Hey Whisper? Where are you?" she sends out telepathically.

Coffee Mug's horn flashes bright and the bottle of eye drops takes on a green glow - but Coffee's unable to tell this as all he can see at the moment are lots and lots of red clouds... Spots? Splotches? Or are those his eyelids?

Yep.

-There his eyelids.

As for Whisper - when she hears Chitin's voice in her head, she'd just finished flipping the dials of the orange and yellow stars - each group reacting just as the stars of the other colors, shooting out colored beams that struck two more concert bubbles and caused them to glow with more rainbow colors.

Coffee applies the drops to his eyes, and blinks rapidly. He still sees some spots, but notices an improvement in vision. Looking around, he notices Chitin gone. 'Hey Dawn, did you want to use the eyedrops? They're not perfect, but they should help.'

While Whisper continues turning on the stars and Chitin flies out looking for her, inside the concert bubble with Coffee Mug, Gleeda, Libram, Codex, and Buck - as Gleeda watches, the little colt that caught her eye before continues looking all around him anxiously, yelling something out, though you can't make out what he's saying with your ear-muffins on...

-And then you all sense a sudden change in the concert's atmosphere...

A chill passes through the amphitheater...

The wind picks up...

All the color begins to bleed out of the scene...

Everything grows dark...

Your eyes are drawn to a hint of movement at the edge of the concert - and as you turn and look off into the distance, you see a black torrent of shadows flooding through the crowds.

None of the concert goers seem to notice, continuing to cheer on as the band continues to play, as all the color fades from their coats, even as the black tide surges past them, rushes through them, coming up now from every direction.

-As you look around, you realize you're surrounded.

And just as you think that the black tide will never stop, just as you fear that it will rush on, consuming everything in it's wake - the concert, the colt, the land, the air, you - it halts it's advance, mere meters from you and the little colt's position in the crowd.

Then something begins to stir within the goo...

The inky-black substance begins to churn up like a tempest-tossed sea, and as you look on - shapes begin forming in the mixture. Red eyes open from within the goo; limbs reach up from the depths; hooves, claws, wings kick, grasp, and beat at the open air. The faces of nightmare-fueled monsters rise to the surface of the blackness, taking their first breaths as the tarry forms rip their way out of the viscous, liquid shadows.

What comes from the goo is a herd of small, misshapen mutants - mixtures of pony, griffon, changeling, minotaur, and a horde of other races - limbs, heads, torsos taken at random, thrown together and mashed up like castoff clay gargoyles, their forms still dripping strings of viscous black tar, even as they take their first steps into the world of dreams.

The ranks of these nightmares stare at you with glowering red eyes, eyes filled only with jealousy, spite, and malice...

While Whisper flaps her wings desperately to move faster, she also just tries to imagine that she's over where the others are, attempting to get there faster and not get caught out alone with only the stars spinning around her deep in the dark as scary monster things come to gobble her up even though she's not been a bad filly today.
