Re: The Overseer's Challenge (OOC/Sign Up)
Well, you've defeated the first batch with great success, to which I blame Xel's ridiculous critical hit. I'll be making up a score card that grades your performance and add these monsters to the compendium.
Re: The Overseer's Challenge (OOC/Sign Up)
It's called the SUPERCRIT that you get from the Oversized Sword... And yeah... We only won thanks to that thing.
Also... What are we to do? Get a Mini-RP brake between combat? Cause I kinda hope we do... Also we get post-fight full heals, right?

Re: The Overseer's Challenge (OOC/Sign Up)
I've already started a little mini-RP. Feel free to join in.

Yep, post-fight heals are good

Didn't remember this until PACU switched out an item. Am I interpreting this right that you can only switch out one single item, or can you switch out any number of items, only at the cost of not switching something else like a combat talent?
I ask this because in Winged Hussar's case, he only has one item- what if I wanted to redistribute my funds among several smaller items?
No big deal if I can't do that, I'm fine with what he has. Just wondering in case I wanted to try something else.

Yeah that works fine. And sorry that I wasn't on yesterday. Things got busy. I'll be back in about two hours to update this. Gotta go to the dentist (Ugh I hate the dentist... I should make a dental-based monster...)

CURSE YOU, CUBE OF JELLY!!!
I don't know why, but those things terrify me so much (shudder). Encountered a few in D+D games I play, never lost to one, but I find them inherently frightening. It doesn't help that in the campaign I'm currently in, they typically also reanimate things they eat as skeletons (not to give our benevolent DM any ideas...)

Re: The Overseer's Challenge (OOC/Sign Up)
Let me know if you want a certain place in that adjacency order. Call a spot from 1 to 5 if you wish
It'll be kind of important for this battle *Hint hint*

Re: The Overseer's Challenge (OOC/Sign Up)
I'm not sure I trust myself to be able to figure out the tactical considerations of the ordering. Obviously if the attacks target creature and adjacent creatures, middle is going to get hit the most (every time) : the rest depends on where the creature attacks (next to middle next most likely to be hit the most, if attacks are evenly spread out).
I'm going to call spot 2 of 5 for now, I'll change if anyone has any good reasoning to throw my way. Or I'd be willing to go by initiative order. (Speaking of which, we seem to roll real low for initiative in general)

It doesn't wrap around. So 1 and 5 usually get hit less often.

Re: The Overseer's Challenge (OOC/Sign Up)
I'll be using this adjacency for the fight: I used your requested spots then used order of initiative to decide the rest.
Adjacency:
1: Blitz
2: Hussar
3: Proto
4: Maretoko
5: PACU

Re: The Overseer's Challenge (OOC/Sign Up)
SilentBelle, I've just found an item that REALLY works with my character.
Talisman of Weapons - 1000 Gold
Trinket
Once per battle, if you possess the a Conjure Weapon combat talent, you may reduce the cost of the Conjure Weapon talent to 4 pips.
Now, since I haven't "started" yet, could you let me switch it out for my Amulet of Extraordinary Protection, or should I just play "as is" and save it for the next battle?

Sure switch it out Just no switching after the first round.
Re: The Overseer's Challenge (OOC/Sign Up)
Duly noted.

Re: The Overseer's Challenge (OOC/Sign Up)
I'm pretty sure you don't get your extra action after saving. Since you had to change your Standard into a minor to use the move. And assuming that saving from it gives your minor back (which I don't think it does...) that would mean all you'd have is minor at most. I'm gonna go reread the specific rules on dazed.
Re: The Overseer's Challenge (OOC/Sign Up)
I think this is a real mystery area... Cause don't think there are any minor actions that deal with saving throws.
Re: The Overseer's Challenge (OOC/Sign Up)
Dazed - The creature doesn’t get its normal complement of actions on its turn; it is restricted to taking either a single standard or a single minor action. It cannot use free actions, reactions or interrupts. While it is dazed, a creature suffers vulnerability 2
If you remove the status effect during your turn, you are should no longer be restricted to taking a single action. As such, you have taken your minor action for the turn (it states you get one action, which must be either minor or standard, not one standard after all).
To be fair, I accidentally started this, because I didn't even see the word 'dazed' in the list of effects. My bad.

Re: The Overseer's Challenge (OOC/Sign Up)
Well, the intent was for that to be the only action you can do on your turn...
Let's see:
Dazed - The creature doesn’t get its normal complement of actions on its turn; it is restricted to taking either a single standard or a single minor action.
I'll ask on the simple question post about it, and for now I'll make this edit to avoid further confusion:
[0] Gerroff! - Standard Utility
Make a saving throw, if you fail the save you pay 1d6 HP.

Re: The Overseer's Challenge (OOC/Sign Up)
Alright. Do I still get my minor action then?

Re: The Overseer's Challenge (OOC/Sign Up)
If I did that wrong, disregard that action... I just saw thematthew do that to, and that's how I could see it possibly being interpreted (dazed->take minor action-> no longer dazed in middle of turn-> able to take standard action?)
Also, was I right that using "Gerroff" was the only option availible to us while engulfed? (not sure if I was reading it right... otherwise I had a better power for getting a saving throw mid-turn, although it'd have taken a standard)
Oh, fast posting while replying- so it's a standard action now. In that case, same question as thematthew.
