Yep. In fact, the upcoming Phoenix Wright game will have a mechanic where you can read the emotions of people during their testimonies in court, so if you spot something odd (such as being happy when they recall a bomb going off or something), you can press them on that...Fury of the Tempest wrote:Tell people's emotions goes a very long way.Zarhon wrote:Well, it only counts for telling their emotions.

As the talent is capable of targeting more than one creature, it's not a single-target ability.

Yeah, the +40 boost is...bad.
I mean, that's basically "learn exactly what they're feeling", which makes sense and all, but should really by more like a 5 or 6 point trait. It's an instant liar-spotter, amongst other potential uses.

Bare minimum roll (Perception of 3, Roll of at least 2 so as not to critfail), is a 45. I'm pretty sure that means its an instant success, unless you're talking to a rock. Or a robot maybe.

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
Double post: I know there was a big discussion about this a few weeks back, but what was the final answer:
Can Companions take Focused Evolution if they have Derp?
2nd question: How do passive UTs work when applied with Personal Project? For example, using Personal Project to take Highborn and Pick of the Litter- you don't ever "activate" them, so what happens to the roll to see if it explodes?

Becasuse of that you canuse free actions as much as you can as long as you can pay for them... I wonder why this trinket is just a -1, when it kinda counts as a -X sorta...Treasure Trove Doc wrote:Tincture of Healing - 3000 Gold

You may use the following combat talent.
[-1] Healing Tincture - Free Utility
You gain 5 hp.
Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
That's why it costs so much gold. You're still constrained by your pip gain, so if you go +3 every turn (which is similar to skipping your turn without trait support) you end up being able to support 15 hp gained for yourself every turn. That can make you very hard to kill, but without some other trait or item (which has its own balance) you won't be doing much to help the rest of your team. It's an item I think is breakable though, in the right build, and I'm waiting for someone to do it.

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
It wouldn't take much, combine it with someone else's mind channel and one or both reloaders, as well as the trait/item that give you a pip each turn.

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
This is exactly the issue. It's even bigger when you realize this is a system with a mind reading talent. This gives you the ammo to know when to read their mind. I think the ability should either be made more abstract instead of having a bonus or it should have a much lower bonus. I lean more towards the latter since it allows those who are deceptive the ability to hide their emotions. It's a racial I'd love to see stay, just not at such an insane bonus.Paper Shadow wrote:Yep. Soldier's Armor?
I was reading through the treasure trove doc again and saw something new.
Soldier’s Armor - 1500 Gold [Created by Xel Unknown and Ramsus]
Armor
You gain resist 2 while you have temporary hp.
Now, the wording on this isn't consistent with the wording for other items that grant resistance. For example:
Full Plate - 2000 gold
Armor
You have resist 2 and suffer a -3 penalty to initiative.
The thing I'm curious about is the difference between gaining resist and having resist.
Now by all means, correct me if I'm wrong, but to me it seems like the Soldier's Armor would stack with resist you might have from another source. Between that resist being conditional and the change in wording, I can see an argument to that end. But I want to check instead of arm-twisting my DM into letting me use it this way.

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
The terminology should be united, but no matter what resist doesn't stack.

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
Okay, thanks. I knew Resist didn't stack, but it does occasionally get added to. The trait "Who's The Tank" and the "Granite Axe" combat talent come to mind. I was thinking that because the wording says "gain" that this piece of armor might work the same way as those. Perhaps a foot-note on the item explaining that it doesn't work that way would be appropriate.Stairc -Dan Felder wrote:The terminology should be united, but no matter what resist doesn't stack.
Well, thanks for clearing that up.
Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
It'll be edited for clarification, thanks for pointing that out. Just to be clear, only things that specifically say they "increase" resistance can up your resistance amount. "Gain" isn't supposed to mean that. But it's definitely confusing. I'll let Kindulas know (he's in charge of updates).

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
I'll post them for him:
Companion [Concept by Kajisora]
You have a companion that can aid and assist you in your travels. It may be a woodland creature you feel a kinship with, a very supportive zombie minion that followed you home, or something else entirely. Your companion has the racial trait Specialist and 1 extra racial trait point (see Genetic Engineering). These abilities represent all the skills and powers at your companion's disposal - they can use these abilities in basically the same ways a player can. If your desired companion would be a more powerful entity than is represented by these skills and abilities, it’s either too awesome to qualify as a companion or won't use any abilities it has that can't be represented by the above features. You can speak to your companion even if it can’t normally talk to others. If your companion dies, you can resurrect them during an extended rest. Companions can’t have companions (though they can have friends).
Derp
If you roll a 2 or a 3 on skill check, the roll is instead considered to be a natural 1. You begin the day with an additional Magic Point.
Focused Evolution (1)
Creatures of your race gain 6 extra racial trait points. Creatures of your race cannot have magic points or Magic Drain talents. Only a creature that would otherwise have one or more magic points may take this talent.
Also necessary:
Evolved Companion
Prerequisite: Companion
Your companion gains 2 racial trait points. You can take this trait multiple times
Layout:
Take companion and evolved companion, spend two racial points to gain a utility talent. Give Companion Derp. Companion now has a magic point. Can it use its last racial point to take Focused Evolution, resulting in a companion with 6 functioning racial points?

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
Posting because unrelated but similar interest in Bronymous' second question.
- Personal Project:
- Personal Project (2)
Your race’s culture is obsessed with crafting bizarre new inventions. You’ve crafted a ‘personal project’ for your own uses. If your personal project is destroyed, you may spend your time during an extended rest rebuilding it. Your personal project is an item with the following criteria.
Personal Project - Item
At creation, choose two utility talents. This item allows its wielder to use those utility talents as long as they meet the prerequisites. However, each time the item is used - the wielder must roll a d100. On an 80 or higher, the Personal Project explodes in an almost ludicrously destructive fashion - dealing 2d20+10 damage to the wielder and 2d20 damage to any other creature within 50 feet.
- Pick of the Litter:
- Pick of the Litter [Created by Kajisora]
You gain 1 racial trait points. You may take this talent multiple times.
- Highborn:
- Highborn
Prerequisite: Pick of the Litter
You gain 2 racial trait points. You may take this talent multiple times, but you may only take it once for each time you have taken Pick of the Litter.

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
This should be worded better, but basically something that's passive is constantly in use... Meaning you'd need to roll constantly for personal project. Not a good idea.

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
Form of the Ooze - 1/Day
Preparation Time: 5 seconds
You enter the Form of the Ooze. In the Form of the Ooze, your size becomes small, you are considered a viscous liquid ½ a gallon in volume (though your body cannot freely separate into pieces), and you gain the Acidborn and Spider Climb racial traits. You can, however, only move at about walking speed with your awkward body. Furthermore, while in Form of the Ooze you body becomes able to stretch and distort, allowing you to squeeze through spaces as narrow as 1/8th of an inch thick or reshape to fit any space or container, so long as you maintain the same volume. While in the Form of the Ooze, you cannot use any of your other xutility or combat talents. You may end this effect at any time.
Can you still use base racials while in this form? And other forms akin to it?
Also
What about Utility talents such as highborn and Pick of the litter? Are they still counted as effective?
Also
If you don't get to keep your racials
Does that mean if you take Focused Evolution, you can essentially get your magic point back when in Form of X talents?
