Let's say that you take this set... And spend those Racials on something that isn't passive.... Like, All-Awesome, Would it be game legal then?Quietkal wrote:Posting because unrelated but similar interest in Bronymous' second question.
- Personal Project:
Personal Project (2)
Your race’s culture is obsessed with crafting bizarre new inventions. You’ve crafted a ‘personal project’ for your own uses. If your personal project is destroyed, you may spend your time during an extended rest rebuilding it. Your personal project is an item with the following criteria.
Personal Project - Item
At creation, choose two utility talents. This item allows its wielder to use those utility talents as long as they meet the prerequisites. However, each time the item is used - the wielder must roll a d100. On an 80 or higher, the Personal Project explodes in an almost ludicrously destructive fashion - dealing 2d20+10 damage to the wielder and 2d20 damage to any other creature within 50 feet.
- Pick of the Litter:
Pick of the Litter [Created by Kajisora]
You gain 1 racial trait points. You may take this talent multiple times.
- Highborn:
Highborn
Prerequisite: Pick of the Litter
You gain 2 racial trait points. You may take this talent multiple times, but you may only take it once for each time you have taken Pick of the Litter.
Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
Questions about flying (tabletop!):
1) How high can one assume to be an "enclosed" combat area (say, a typical room)? How high can one fly "upwards" where a ceiling might be present? Is it pretty much up to flavor, or is blocking terrain automatically "can't be flown/jumped over/through/onto"?
2) When you create a "dangerous zone" with a burst ability or something similar, does it also extend upwards (explosion in 3D space, going upwards)? Or does it only affect the 2D space it was on (effectively causing gravity to "pull" the zone to the floor)? Is it enough to just diagonally fly a single space upwards to avoid a dangerous zone, or does it extend higher than that (to its full burst range, if its in 3D)?
3) Does flying (or jumping, for that matter) through a zone that activates if something moves through/enters it, causes it to trigger its effects?
4) Can one move diagonally next to blocking terrain, if they can fly? Or over it, if it's "low enough" (e.g. a table, rather than a wall)
5) Does "falling" from flying (due to being knocked prone) have damaging consequences that depends on height?

I know that "jumping" from one square to another is basically teleporting, so you don't pass through the squares in between your location and destination. Flying does, though, assuming the range of effects expands upward like you asked.Zarhon wrote:3) Does flying (or jumping, for that matter) through a zone that activates if something moves through/enters it, causes it to trigger its effects?

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
Did we ever get an official wording on if you can swap out Trinkets mid-battle and if so if it costs two minor actions like Weapons do?
Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
Right now, I believe it's only weapons. Flavorwise though, I don't see a reason it couldn't make sense for trinkets too.

To clarify, a character does need to have bought the extra weapon/trinket ahead of time as opposed to just pulling from anything in the list, right?

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
I would suggest adding a new area in bold about the Item Swaping thing... Even though it "kinda" is already there in the doc. Just putting it in it's own area will make it clearer it's an option to use. And help in explaining how to do things like that.
Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
Of course. It only lets you change items that you already have, in case you buy two swords and want to trade out between them.ZamuelNow wrote:To clarify, a character does need to have bought the extra weapon/trinket ahead of time as opposed to just pulling from anything in the list, right?

Can characters with the magic drain virtues be assisted by ally Magic Points? Don't know if that would be considered them using the MP or not.

Absolutely, as long as they aren't using the magic point themselves.

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
I highly doubt that "Magic Drain" will be a term though. Because it was only needed for utility/racial/destiny things so you couldn't take more than one. If they're virtues, you won't have that problem - as you can only take one at a time anyway.

Working on it!
Now, we've recently received a question regarding the best place to work on material for adapting pony tales to specific settings. In particular, applying things from earlier generations of MLP to Pony Tales.
This hasn't really got a clearly defined forum to be posted in at present, hence the new forum. This provides a place for the development of specific settings, and the adaptations to the system used to unify them into a contiguous whole - for example, bringing together all the disparate races and talents written to particular settings like The Elder Scrolls into a single Elder Scrolls Setting source.

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
Same as GW 2 was. Released when it's ready.
A lot depends on all the *other* things people desire - such as revamps and rebalancing as well as the time constraints caused by our other projects.

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
Plus, how do you even determine what goes in the manual? Just "show" monsters, like the official races, in which case there aren't a lot of options? Or just any old monster that is mechanically sound? Or just the mechanics templates themselves, with instructions to add flavor as needed, but in that case there's not a huge point, since a lot of DMs seem to prefer to stat their own monsters.

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
The monster manual is going to provide an assortment of basic "class" templates that determine the kind of things they can do (similar to controller, soldier, brute, lurker, leader and so on from 4e's own monsters) as well as a great many tools to tweak and customize these basic templates for various types of monsters and for various playgroups. That way you won't need to learn new templates for new monsters every time. If you want to make a goblin warrior, you'll take one of the 'warrior' templates and then add on one of the 'goblin' traits/talents or so on.
A goblin warrior and a skeletal warrior and a goblin skeletal warrior don't need three different templates. That just takes up space. DMs need ways to quickly and easily create encounters for their players to face for a wide variety of situations and settings (far more than we could ever provide for). The manual will exist to be a tool that supports this encounter-building, plus includes ways to easily tweak difficulty to your players on the fly (without mucking about in lots of confusing numbers).

You enter the Form of the Ooze. In the Form of the Ooze, your size becomes small, you are considered a viscous liquid ½ a gallon in volume (though your body cannot freely separate into pieces), and you gain the Acidborn and Spider Climb racial traits. You can, however, only move at about walking speed with your awkward body. Furthermore, while in Form of the Ooze you body becomes able to stretch and distort, allowing you to squeeze through spaces as narrow as 1/8th of an inch thick or reshape to fit any space or container, so long as you maintain the same volume. While in the Form of the Ooze, you cannot use any of your other xutility or combat talents. You may end this effect at any time.
Can you still use base racials while in this form? And other forms akin to it?
Also
What about Utility talents such as highborn and Pick of the litter? Are they still counted as effective?
Also
If you don't get to keep your racials
Does that mean if you take Focused Evolution, you can essentially get your magic point back when in Form of X talents?

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
What happened to the racial trait Focused Evolution? I recall seeing it in the Generic Engineering doc last week but now I can't find it. Did it get removed from the game?

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
It was shifted over to being a virtue, which are like elements, but not. Here's the whole section:
Virtues
Not all characters have a personal affinity for one of the Elements of Harmony. However, there are other, personal virtues that characters hold dear. Instead of taking an element, your character can select one of the following virtues instead.
Tenacity - Magic
Fully recharge all uses of up to two of your X/Day utility talents.
Honor - Magic
When an ally is in combat and you are not, you may use this talent to teleport instantly to that ally’s side.
Reliability
Whenever you would roll a natural 1 on a d20 outside of combat, you may reroll the die with a +5 bonus. You cannot have magic points.
Genetics
You gain 5 extra racial trait points. You cannot have Magic Points.

Ah yes, that's right - technically, as worded, you can, which makes the highborn thing really weirdHayatecooper wrote:bumpHayatecooper wrote:Form of the Ooze - 1/Day

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
I think that one's racials always should be able to be used in such shape-shifting events.... If anything being unable too makes them weaker... If there is worry with Highborn, then I suggest trying to make sure they can't mix? Cause that's what I'd do with it....
