Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
No, I don't believe so. I don't see a problem with having multiple companions though. Easy houserule.

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
Yeah the companions can't have companions thing was only an add on to avoid ENDLESS MINIONS fluke that was spotted. Therefore there isn't anything wrong with having mutable minions. But I'd figure such things to be a hard way to work it. *shrug*

Lightning Lance - 1500 Gold [Created by Philadelphus]
Weapon
You may use the following combat talent
[0] Lightning Charge - Interrupt Utility
Trigger - You would roll initiative
Effect - Roll 3d10 instead of 1d20 and treat the result as your initiative roll.
Do theses d10s trigger crits?

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
For abilities that allow me to roll dice twice, do I roll each individual die twice or each group of dice twice?
For example, if I am told to roll 3d10, do I roll each d10 twice and take the highest one of each, or do I roll 3d10 twice and take the higher result?
Would this be different I were using Daggerstorm, where the results of each dice roll affect my ability to continue rolling altogether?

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
It depends on the reroll in question. Most would require you to roll two collections of 3d10 and choose between the two results. I'd just treat them all this way too, even if technically some are different - because it makes for much less sticky gameplay.

If I use Redirect Focus at the beginning of my trn (rather than the end like one logically would) does it count towards my one-talent-per-turn-because-I'm-Dazed-thing?

Why are the Skype versions of the Orb weapons more expensive? They're far less interesting and can be killed off.
- Tabletop Orbs:
- Orb of Holy Light - 4000 Gold
Weapon
One per battle, you may use the following combat talent.
[0] Conjure Sphere of Light - Standard Action [1/Battle]
Range - Ranged 7
You conjure a medium-sized Sphere of Light in an unoccupied space within range. You can move the Sphere of Light up to your speed as a move action and the Sphere of Light counts as blocking terrain. Allies that enter a space adjacent to the Sphere of Light gain 5 temporary hp. Creatures that start their turns in a space adjacent to the Sphere of Light gain 2d8 hp. The Sphere of Light vanishes at the end of the encounter.
Orb of Infinite Fire - 9000 Gold
Weapon
Once per battle, you may use the following combat talent.
[0] Conjure Fiery Sphere - Standard Utility [1/Battle]
Range - Ranged 7
You conjure a medium-sized Sphere of Fire in an unoccupied space within range. You can move the Sphere of Fire up to your speed as a move action and the Sphere of Fire counts as blocking terrain. Creatures that enter a space adjacent to the Sphere of Fire to the Sphere of Fire suffer 2d10 ongoing damage (save ends). Creatures that start their turns in a space adjacent to the Sphere of Fire suffer 2d12 damage. The Sphere of Fire vanishes at the end of the encounter.

They're very different designs and come with very different math, which leads to different pricing. It's possible that a pricing mistake was made though.

Yeah... They've been kinda odd hangers in the system as is. Being a pair of ONE TIME summons that can be easily killed for not much payoff for what they do. They both look like something you can find out ways to easier do them yourself with the system if you wanted.
Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
Do KOs/Deaths in combat change adjacency? Ie if I have enemies 1, 2, 3, and 4, and 3 goes down, are 2 and 4 now considered adjacent?

Really disappointing that they require full standard actions and not minors or even being summoned on initiative like Conjurer's Pet.

Regarding Meditate. Do multiple instances of it from one player stack?
- Talent for reference:
Meditate - Standard Utility
Your next two attacks that have two or fewer targets deal +1d12 damage.

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
While it seems to be implied that stuff like that can't stack with itself, and it would likely be clunky to keep track of, don't see anything outright preventing it, and it seems balanced enough as a standard action. You'd be spending 2 standard actions to get +2d12 on your next one attack, which isn't much different (arguably worse even) than waiting one standard action for +1d12 and then attacking.Doc pseudopolis wrote:Regarding Meditate. - Untraceable:
- Untraceable (5) – At Will
You are a slippery character. Your features and identity blur in the minds of others, making you very hard to pin down. Whenever you like, you can choose a creature that you can see. For the next month, that creature finds it nearly impossible to describe your appearance to others or remember what your name is. They still remember all your actions and will recognize you if they see you again, but can’t seem to give a description of you to anyone that might ask.
Are you only able to use Untraceable on one target at a time? If you can't, that need to be clearer. If you can, a full month duration on an at-will with no prep time may need some adjusting.

If it was available for only one creature, it would be nigh-worthless for its purpose of having near-immunity to 'bad reputation' (which is sort of essential for characters who also use abilities like Alter Ego, or are Changelings, etc...), and there would always be a drawback to using it more than once (since the old creature would suddenly remember everything about you, which makes the 1-month duration pointless). It already has a drawback that limits its effectiveness anyway.
Basically, a similar problem that Kindness Element has when faced with multiple creatures.

I've found an error on the Treasure Trove Doc... Vicious Hawkeye and Hellscream Hawkeye both are giving a 3d6 damage...
Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
Something that's confused me about the companion ability for awhile- It says that companions have the specialist ability for free, and they get eight extra points to spend between the attributes. What I don't get is whether or not the companion gets the standard eight point to spread on top of that. Basically, is a companions pool of points supposed to be lower than a standard character, or should it be the same?

Right, so if they spread them out evenly, they'd have base scores of 5?

Re: Ask a Simple Question - Get a Simple Answer
Yes. I think originally they had base scores of 5 and didn't get Specialist, so everyone picked up Specialist to make their companion be good at things so the devs gave all companions the racial trait. If I recall correctly, that is...mjh6 wrote:Right, so if they spread them out evenly, they'd have base scores of 5?

Yeah, that sounds about right. Basically Companions shouldn't have as many skill points as player characters do, considering they only cost 3 Ability points.
