The machine, meanwhile, looks perfect for the ribbon, or the spools thereof - if somepony were to set a spool or ribbon onto the pole and turn it on, the ribbons could be wound or unwound perfectly in a matter of seconds. Back when the factory was running, this machine may have been used for quick assembly of various mechanical parts.

Edited in a rather crucial detail to the pit Hallows and Gallows are in (namely, there's a door). As for how Maverick can modify the machine, the check's not high enough for specifics, but a rod designed to spin really fast couldn't help but be useful in some invention or another.

And then Sweet Puff didn't think it was necessary to tell anypony about the ghosts she saw, and Maverick had second thoughts about putting the ribbon on the ribbon spinny device, making the DM very disappointed in them both.

It's something I'm rather opinionated about. So feel free to skip this post if you don't want to hear about it.

But consider how long Equestria has been around: at least 1000 years (Nightmare Moon was banished for 1000 years, decidedly AFTER the founding of Equestria.) Considering Heart's Warming Eve, my estimate bumps it up to 2000 years. You could argue that maybe a "Pony year" is shorter than a "real world" year... But the point still stands that it's been around a pretty long time. England hasn't been around that long, compared to, say, China; and yet they have English, which evolved from Old English, whoch evolved from Latin, and has since evolved further into the modern hybrid language we speak due to cramming dozens of cultures onto the same landmass and watching them conglomerate... Similar deal with most if not all of Europe and many other parts of the world. So it's safe to say that Equestria has been around plenty long enough to have evolved it's own language (Unlike America, which is still recent enough to be sharing with England in that regard; and thanks to the dawn of the Information Age will probably remain that way for some time) which would naturally be named after the country in which it is primarily spoken.

So yeah, I felt justified mentally calling it Equestrian all this time...

Well that's fine, but unlike Americans speaking English as a sociological fact, we don't know what Ponies call their language- it may not even be the same language, and we are just hearing our localized translation (if you want to look at it that way). I always just called it Equestrian as well, but the DM already set the precedent in this particular version of the setting by calling it "Ponglish", so I went with that.
